Glory Days

I don't believe there is one Max Lucado book that I've read that hasn't changed my life in some way or another. They all just seem to speak to me in the moment that I am experiencing and offer hope to what I am dealing with, almost as if God is speaking to me, through the words Max shares between the cover. Glory Days is certainly no different. It is a book that deals with getting us out of the hum drums of our lives and into seeing all the blessings and goodness that come from realizing who we are in Jesus. Taking along the for the journey, the Book of Joshua, each chapter walks us through two very different scenarios from the Bible. The first chronicles what went wrong with the Israelites as they followed Moses through the Exodus from Egypt. How they whined and complained along the way, at times following God and other times, defying Him. They would not see the promised land that they spent 40 years wandering around looking for.

On the other hand, Joshua who took up after Moses died, did in fact not only cross over into the promised land God had spoken of, but Joshua followed God without any doubt. It is this same scenario that showcases how we are either held back by our own insecurities, doubts and fears, like the Israelites or through our rock solid faith, we push forward, believing in the unfailing promises of God and move on to our Glory Days in this life. As always Max illustrates each chapter in our spiritual walk of faith or doubt with classic stories that bring the reader right into the chapter with things we can relate to, pet ownership, raising children, dealing with loss, illness and even watching the events of 9/11.

This book is amazing because not only does it walk us alongside a practical example from modern day life, but Max also shares a section from the book of Joshua in how the people were successful based on what they were doing, how they were living their life at the time, and even how God can use someone with a less than perfect past like Rahab, to bring about the salvation of her family when the entire city was leveled, simply for having the faith to believe in a God she hadn't seen before, but knew existed by the reputation of what He had done up to this point. Stories go a long way, and remember that all Joshua had to go by were the first 5 books of the Bible, with the last in the process of being completed, but he relied on it, body, mind, heart and soul and received the greatest reward in his life for it.

I received Glory Days by Max Lucado compliments of Thomas Nelson Publishers and Litfuse Publicity for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review aside from a free copy of this book and the opinions contained here are strictly my own. This book will show you how to have the life you always wanted as a Christian, to learn to live your life fighting from victory and not for victory for the battle has already been won by Jesus. How to live a life knowing that better days are ahead and how to overcome rejection by understanding what it means to be a child of God. This book also teaches you how to change those negative mindsets we often make permanent in our life and how to understand the right voice to listen to instead of the wrong one. It leads us to make better choices in our spiritual life and leads us to a great fulfillment of the future God has laid out just for us, if we are only willing to take that first step of faith. Well worth all 5 out of 5 stars and the perfect gift for anyone struggling with self worth or self esteem issues.

A Treasury of Miracles for Women

"Women are a busy lot, rushing through the days trying to manage a dozen different roles. We are mothers, daughters, friends, neighbors, counselors, house cleaners, chauffeurs, cooks, caretakers, and dream-makers. Often we are responsible for the well-being of everyone in our own little worlds. But in the rush of life we rarely take time to revel in the miracles around us - the living examples and awe-inspiring proof of God's love.

  • The baby that should have died but lived.
  • The child saved from a pond without a trace of the golden-haired rescuer.
  • The paralyzed young woman who walked down the aisle a year later and married her high school sweetheart.
  • The angelic reminder that even in death, God is there.

Miracles abound if we only take the time to look.

It's been said that we women were created with a relationship manual built into our hearts. But we are nothing more than harried, hassled, dried-out machines if we don't take the time to allow our souls to sing again. Time to sit quietly in the presence of God's miracles and be reminded that he is still working among us. " (pg 7-8)

In Karen Kingsbury's latest book, A Treasury of Miracles for Women: True Stories of God's Presence, it is a heart-warming inspirational look at just how powerful prayer can be and how active God and His angels are in our everyday lives. 15 soul stirring stories from real families who have experienced God's intervention in their seemingly simple and small lives in a powerful way. This will encourage and lift your spirits as you begin to feel God's presence in every single one of this amazing stories.

I received A Treasury of Miracles for Women by Karen Kingsbury compliments of Faith Words, a division of Hachette Book Groups for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions contained here are strictly my own unless otherwise notated. This is such an encourage book to give as a gift to anyone struggling with their faith or going through a difficult time, to see how God can answer a simple prayer in life changing ways. I easily give this one a 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion.

God Is Not Mad At You

Is God angry with you?

So many people steer clear of a relationship with God simply because of past experiences in dealing with someone who has hurt you with their anger or their response to something you have done in the past. Most often times, the older we get the more likely we are to avoid those situations in dealing with people who are angry with us, thinking that is a better way to deal with life, rather than moving forward in that relationship. However avoidance does nothing to improve your relationships with people. If we don't work through our conflicts, we will find very little people in our lives we can relate to, and God is the biggest one most people run from.

I believe most people like to think of God as someone that truly would rather not deal with because of the consequences of our actions might lead us to believe that some form of discipline is required for not doing the right thing. Yet God is all powerful, He is also all loving and has demonstrated the need for restoration with the human race. When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, God was already at work building a plan to restore the relationship He had with the humans He created through the birth and death of His son, Jesus Christ. God developed the plan that when you do something wrong, you need to find a way to seek forgiveness and make it right. When we sin, we need to repent, or turn away from that, seek forgiveness from God, and try and go about not doing that again. God doesn't ask for us to earn our way into His heart through some deed or hard work. He simply seeks our heart and words of repentance to restore the right order in our lives.

He is the perfect example of what unconditional love truly means. He gave His ONLY Son, that we might once and for all have a sacrifice of love and blood that would resolve that relationship between us and our Creator through belief in what Jesus Christ accomplished. The day that Jesus Christ died on the cross was for all the sins of the world and its inhabitants, past, present and future, that simply through believing in what He did, that we could restore that relationship with God once again and be assured that when our lives are done here on Earth, we will live forever in eternity with God.

Joyce Meyer once more takes readers through the different situations in our lives that show us that God is Not Mad At You so you don't have to avoid Him in your life. He isn't trying to control you, He's simply trying to love you, the way any father would their own child. But perhaps you don't have a great example of a loving father in your life to see that kind of relationship. Joyce addresses those as well using her own example of her father's abusive relationship to show readers how you can use these skills in every relationship you have and most importantly, how to restore the relationship with God in your life. Some may think that God will never accept them as they are; that they are not good enough for God, that God couldn't possibly forgive them or that even God is punishing them. All these issues and more are dealt with in Joyce Meyer style and one you can easily relate to in her book, God Is Not Mad At You.

I received God Is Not Mad At You by Joyce Meyer compliments of Faith Words, a division of Hachette Book Groups for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review. If you find yourself struggling with issues from your past that are hindering your relationships with God and others, I would encourage you to pick up a copy of this book today. It will completely restore the issues that are holding you back and keeping you from building right relationships with people in your life. You too, can experience real love, acceptance and guilt-free living! I rate this book a perfect 5 out of 5 stars and LOVE every book I've read of Joyce Meyers mostly because she relates to us right where we are at in our lives!

Fruit of My Spirit

" But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. Against such things there is no law." Galatians 5:22-23

Do you ever wonder if there is a God out there that really and truly cares about what you're going through? If you're simply going through all the motions, there where are all the blessings? Feel like you're crossing through yet another parched desert alone?

Fear not, for God is with you, all the way to the end of whatever valley you are enduring in your life right now. There are certainly times where we begin to wonder where it's all going and is the journey even worth it and a great resource to pick up is Deanna Nowadnick's book, Fruit of the Spirit. Written as a short story to encourage her sons, it quickly became a longer book but now one that can inspire you as you endure your own walk of faith. In the end, God will bring about a great harvest as long as we don't lose heart along the way. This one came to me, at just the perfect time where I was wondering where God was in all of my own long walk of faith in one of the darkest trials in my life.

I was encouraged and refreshed as I read through this book. I found myself feeling called back into an oasis of sorts with God for some quiet time and reflection, as well as inspiration, endurance and faith. In the end, I hope we can all show through our own personal trials, the perfect fruit of walking with God along the way. A great reminder that He never leaves us or forsakes us, it's often us that walk away from Him. The great news is He is always watching and nearby!

I received this book compliments of Deanna Nowadnick for my honest review and think this is the perfect thirst quencher to go hand-in-hand with your Bible to help bring you through those dark valleys to rest upon the mountain tops when the time is right. I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it for those of you looking for some encouragement along your desert walk of faith!
