Love Finds You In Sugarcreek, Ohio

What happens when Criminal Minds falls into the land of the Amish living in Sugarcreek, Ohio? We have the makings of an exceptional novel in the Love Finds You Series, this time from best-selling author Serena B. Miller. Joe Matthews is tired of running and hiding with his young son, Bobby. Now that his truck has broken down in the small Amish community of Sugarcreek, Ohio, Joe just needs to find a way to make enough money to pay for the repairs to his truck and get back on the road. It would have not been an issue, had someone not stolen his wallet, along with all his credit cards and cash. There is no way he can call anyone right now to have those items replaced because then people would know where he is, and for now, that is not an option.

Police officer Rachel Troyer has always tried to maintain peace and order in their small Amish town, and now in the midst of the Swiss Festival, she knows tourists from all over will be descending on them for the next week and she can only hope nothing will go wrong this year. It's not the Amish she has to contend with or even the tourists but the Amish teens who are in their Rumspringa period of running around that has caused her concern. Not to mention her three aging aunts whom she has tried in vain to talk out of running their Inn and take some time to retire. She can't imagine if something were to happen to one of them in the midst of this time, where she will be putting all her efforts. She just never imagined a strange man and his young boy would be the next guests needing a place to stay.

Rachel can trust her instincts enough to know that Joe is hiding something, but she can't figure out what. Her aunts are only too willing to lend them a place to stay and food to eat in exchange for some work that needs to be done on the Inn and surrounding land. But Joe hopes this will only be long enough to pay for the repairs on his truck before he will be on his way. Something that pleases Rachel more than she is willing to admit, however Bobby has had enough of being on the road and just wants a place to call home now. Will Rachel be able to help or hurt them in the end?

I received Love Finds You in Sugarcreek Ohio by Serena B. Miller compliments of Summerside Press and Litfuse Publicity for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed in this review are strictly my own. By far, some of my favorite Amish novels are the ones where they blend worlds of the English and Amish seamlessly into one compelling novel you don't want to put down until the end. Couple that with a great mystery as to what Joe and Bobby are running from and you truly have the best of three amazing genres woven together in a masterpiece. I especially love the ending I didn't see coming but LOVE the way Serena closed this one with an exclamation mark on my heart! The best part is this novel is being made into a movie slated to be out in June, so you can find out all the behind the scenes tidbits on Serena's Facebook page as well as a look at the trailer below!!! Hands down a truly deserving 5 out of 5 stars and one that holds a permanent place in my personal Love Find You collection.

Fearless Hope

Life sometimes offers us a different path than the one we wanted for our lives. Sometimes we are forced to face some of those challenges head on and wait to see what the outcome will be believing of course, that God knows best. In the latest novel from Serena B. Miller, Fearless Hope, offers the readers a different way of looking at hope in the most challenging of situations.

For Logan Parker who lives in New York as a best selling author, he has come against the proverbial and dreaded writer's block. Known for his suspense novels, he has been struggling since the loss of his wife and can't see to find the light beyond the end of the bottle. His publisher has given him the last ultimatum since turning in less than stellar best sellers in his last two novels, either find where you got off track or you won't have a contract with his publishing firm in the future. He has a deadline to complete a novel and if it isn't along the lines of what they have been expecting, he will be fired.

When he takes a trip to the Amish country of Holmes County, Ohio with his financèe, an interior designer looking for quality furniture, he happens upon a home for sale that provides him with an unknown serenity. As if he has been there before. Thinking it would offer him a respite from the rigors of New York and hopefully provide a break to his writer's block, he purchases the house. He can't understand why he feels as if he has been there before, but his fiancèe Marla, a strikingly beautiful women whose only focus is on what she can get out of life thinks it's a complete waste of time.

Logan buys the home against Marla's wishes and while he opts to stay in the house in Ohio, she heads back to New York. Left with an empty house in need of filling, Logan begins to shop around town for things to fill the home. While browsing a local store, he finds Hope Yoder, who is looking for work as a housekeeper. She is struggling to find her own sense of purpose sense losing her husband Titus in a farming accident that has left her with two young children and pregnant with her third child. She is hoping to find something that will allow her to bring her children to work and one that will allow her to work until she has the baby. Logan is willing to give her a job seeing as he is in need of someone who can cook for him while he tries to find himself. They both understand that nothing can come between the two of them since Logan is English and Hope is Amish. Hope is more than surprised to learn that Logan has bought her father's house and farm and it more than excited to help bring it back to it's former glory. But either of them be able to keep their hearts from finding a path different than the one they have in mind?

I received Fearless Hope by Serena B. Miller compliments of Howard Books, a division of Simon and Schuster Publishers for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed are strictly my own. I love novels that combine different genre's and in this case, it's contemporary romance alongside Amish romance. I love seeing how Logan and Hope try to work around the differences in their faith while trying to get past their own stages of grief having both lost their spouses. What inspires me most about Hope's character is that her actions speak louder than anything she says and it's true what the Bible states that we can be won over by our actions rather than our words with others. What an inspirational story of hope among loss that is geared to encourage us all that life doesn't end when we think it should and God has a plan in mind for all of us. .This one easily rates a 5 out of 5 stars.

Hidden Mercies

Is is possible that your child could do something so horrible that you couldn't find it in your heart to forgive them? Is it possible to honestly hate your own child?

After twenty seven years, Tom Miller is returning home. He is finally willing to face those he has hurt beyond belief and he only hopes that they can find it in their hearts to forgive him as well. Twenty seven years ago, things between his family and the girl he grew up loving from afar were forever changed. His brother Matthew was supposed to wake up that morning and marry Claire, but instead he was offering the opportunity to ride a new thoroughbred horse that their friend Henry owned. Knowing there wasn't a horse that Matthew couldn't ride, this was a dream come true. Only when combined with the effects of drinking and following a bit too closely in the predawn hours, the accident that killed Matthew would be something he would carry with him the rest of his life.

Claire had finally moved on after learning that she was pregnant with Matthew's child just days after she was supposed to marry Matthew. How was she supposed to know that God had different plans for her than marrying the man, she though she would. Now that she is now 44, she has lived a fulfilled life as a wife and mother to Abraham, a man she married strictly out of convenience to give her son Levi, father to teach him what he needed to know to become a man. Now that she is a widow and raising her own children as well as her brother's orphan daughters, she finds that being a midwife and running a small store is enough to keep their heads above water.

When Tom returns home, he finds that after serving in Afghanistan, that due to his injuries sustained when a suicide bomber blew up in front of him, no one recognizes him. The scars to his face and the change in his voice from the attack give him a chance to talk with Claire and his own father to see if he can find a way to truly seek forgiveness in their hearts. Yet Tom soon learns that it might be best if he remained unknown to them when he finds that they both bear hard feelings towards the man they wished might never have come back.

I received Hidden Mercies by Serena B. Miller compliments of Howard Books, a division of Simon & Schuster Publishers for my honest review and received no monetary compensation for a favorable one. Being a huge lover of Amish Fiction and having read An Uncommon Grace, I was looking forward to reading Hidden Mercies to pick up Claire's story. While it's not necessary to read An Uncommon Grace to gain a full understanding of this novel, once you read the story of Claire and Levi, you will want to go back to revisit Claire's story from the beginning. This is truly a story about the freedom that forgiveness really brings, not so much for the person we are forgiving but for us. There is such a power in letting go of bitterness, hard feelings and accepting that no matter how often we fail in life, God is always willing to extend us the mercy of His love and true forgiveness. This is a beautiful example of that in Hidden Mercies, and one I highly recommend with a 5 out of 5 stars.
