A Heart's Promise

Sometimes the hardest choice is the one our heart wants to make but our mind convinces us that it simply isn't for us. Emmie Croftner, knows all about bad choices. It wasn't enough to be born into a family where her older brothers pretty much dictated the way life would be lived and that she would spend her time serving their needs. To call them ruthless would be an understatement, and that is why she probably fell so hard for Monroe. Not only did she need the kind of attention and perceived love he was offering, but in a way it was an escape from her brothers. Perhaps if she had listened to her head more than her heart, her life would be different.

Instead, she learns that her marriage to Monroe was real. He was previously married to another woman and he had a child with her. So when Monroe died, Emmie was left with nothing, except being a child thanks to Monroe. Her only hope would be heading to Fort Laramie and staying with her sister in law Sarah to escape the looks and rumors she was now at the center of.

She just never expected to meet a man just as sweet as Monroe had appeared, but this time instead of listening to her heart, she is listening to her common sense. One that reminds her that all men are alike, that no matter how smooth talking they might be, how kind, they only have one thing in mind, and as much as she would love to give in, she isn't about to take that chance with Isaac. She'd rather be alone for the right reasons, than with someone for all the wrong reasons.

I received A Heart's Promise by Colleen Coble compliments of Thomas Nelson Publishers and Litfuse Publicity for my honest review. Aside from a free copy of this book, I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions contained here are strictly my own. This is the 5th book in the Journey of the Heart Series, and I can't wait to see how it will all end up. Emmie is struggling to find her way among the women at the Fort and believes that she will find herself facing similar circumstances once the women find out about her past. One woman in particular will go to great lengths to ensure Emmie stays away from Isaac, a man she intends on marrying. Such a beautiful story of hope, renewal and forgiveness that has been the theme of this series from beginning to end. I'd rate this one a 4 out of 5 stars.

A Heart's Disguise

In the re-release of Colleen Coble's Journey of the Heart Series, she opens the first book, A Heart's Disguise with a letter to the reader. It conveys that this was the first series of novels she ever wrote and they remain special to her because writing was how she dealt with her brother Randy's death. She tells readers that they will see a piece of her dear brother in Rand's character throughout the series. The books have not been available for print in nearly ten years, so it is a true pleasure that these are making their way into the hands of readers to fall in love with all over again.

Colleen Coble is definitely no stranger now to book readers who have fallen in love with her uncanny ability to draw the reader into her novels as though they are part of the story. For fans of western romance genre's, you will definitely want to pick this entire series up. Just under a hundred pages, A Heart's Disguise sets the precedent for the remaining novels that follow.

In Wabash, Indiana at the conclusion of the Civil War, we find Sara Montgomery dealing with the recent news that the man she was waiting to return home from the war, has been killed. Knowing her heart can never be whole again, she faces the challenges of dealing with her dying father whose only wish is to see her married and well cared for before he dies, instead of living with her older brother Wade. Despite how she feels, she wonders if settling for Ben Croftner as her future husband will offer her at least the security of not wanting for anything and he at least says he loves her. Knowing there isn't much change of Rand rising from the grave, she consents to his proposal of marriage.

On the eve of the day before she is supposed to get married, she is about to learn that sometimes love offers second chances she didn't see coming and sometimes some people don't truly have your best intentions in mind and you are just a pawn in helping them accomplish what they want in life.

I received A Heart's Disguise by Colleen Coble compliments of Thomas Nelson Publishers and Litfuse Publicity for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions contained in this review are strictly my own. This novel has definitely given me a craving for more from Colleen and I can't wait to pick up the remaining books in this series. I am a huge lover of western romances, reading Louis L'Amour books back in high school. This one is fit right into that wheelhouse for me and I love how much Sara is willing to sacrifice her own personal happiness for her father and family even though she knows she will never be truly happy without Rand. It is believable because with choices being so limited for women back then, they really didn't have much of a say so in what their futures would be aside from a wife and mother. This one for me rates a 5 out of 5 stars and offers a sneak peek into A Heart's Obsession at the conclusion of this book.

Tried and True

I can't imagine how difficult it would have been being a woman living in the mid 1800's trying to homestead and find a way to make a living far away from anything resembling a city life. The life of wearing a dress, attending a party or just being cared for is not something that the Wilde sisters have time for living in Aspen Ridge, Idaho. The one thing they all agree on is that they need to keep up their disguises as men in order to make the years that they served in the Civil War count towards the five years needed to claim land out west. Against their better judgement when their older brother, Jimmy was killed, their father pressured the girls to join up as a way of paying respect for his service and to get revenge of the men who killed their brother, even if they didn't want to.

Now to keep up the charade and to honor their father's wishes, each of the girls, Bailey, Shannon and Kylie each utilized their service papers and applied for homesteads to increase the inheritance their father believed Jimmy would have wanted, not caring that the girls were still living a lie. It would have all worked out had Aaron Masterson, not come calling and find Kylie stuck on the roof of her cabin. He believed her lies that she was working alongside her brother on the land, but when he came back to meet, Kyle, he discovered not only her charade but Bailey's and Shannon's as well. He could not in good faith, honor the homestead papers applying their service time, to the length of time required to own the property, when they had lied about getting into the army in the first place. He would need to set things right or he could lose his job. The last thing he wanted to do was lock the Wilde girls up in jail for falsifying the paperwork, even if he didn't agree with the rules.

All Aaron knows is that he has grown quite fond of Kylie Wilde and it is apparent she lacks the skills she needs to continue to eek out a living here for the next five years. She is more than relieved she doesn't have to continue lying to anyone about being a woman, but no matter how much she tries to convince her Pa, he reminds her that she is a disgrace to Jimmy's memory, and she needs to fulfill her time in order to gain the land for the Wilde family. The only problem is that Gage Coulter, a wealthy cattle rancher and land owner has been trying to acquire all the land around his ranch to further expand his withholdings and the land the Kylie has is just what he needs right now. Now he just needs to convince her to sell or he just might need to marry her to get control of it. Life is about to get real interesting in Aspen Springs!

I received Tried and True by Mary Connealy compliments of Bethany House Publishers and Litfuse Publicity for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed here are strictly my own. I absolutely LOVE anything that Mary Connealy writes and my personal library of her books is steadily growing. I am thrilled that she has launched a new series, Wild at Heart with Tried and True being the first book to debut. I LOVE that Kylie and her sisters attempted to do things that most women wouldn't have, serving in the army during the Civil War, trying to make a go of it living in the west, building their own cabins and living off the land while trying to earn time for the homesteading requirement. It took guts and gumption and all the Wilde sisters employ their talents to make it work, despite their Pa who seems stuck in his own personal grief.

Mary Connealy takes the readers right into the grit of living in the West. You can smell the pine from the woods, feeling the suddenly unexpected thunderstorm all the perfect backdrop to a wonderful heartwarming romance. By far one of my favorite genres to read but not everyone can pull it off so beautifully as Mary does. Her writing style is so rich, you don't want to put this book down for one minute, which I inhaled in a matter of hours. I can't wait to see how it plays out in the next book, even though I have feeling which sisters will wind up with who by the end of this amazing series. We'll have to wait and see. You even get a sneak peek at the next novel Now and Forever coming in June of 2015. To me, that's too long to wait, but what can I do. This one easily ropes a 5 out of 5 stars in my book.

The Healer's Touch

Combining the legend of the Ozark Spook lights along with a bit of western romance, best-selling author Lori Copeland takes us back in time in The Healer's Touch, her latest novel from Harvest House Publishers. The novel opens with the mystery of the lights seen on a deserted stretch of gravel road, known to the locals as the Spook lights. Some argue that the lights can be explained by headlights from the cars traveling along old Route 66, which would be fine, except that the lights began before the road was constructed and cars were invented. Whatever they are, they are a supporting character found in this novel set in the late 1800's in Missouri, where the majority of the people living just outside of Joplin, fear the Bolton family. They believe that the old woman who lives in the house that is just plain mad is responsible for those mysterious lights that no one can explain and the reason why no one ventures up to the Bolton home.

Good thing for Lyric and Lake, who care for their aging and ill mother, that the town has for the most part left them alone in Bolton Holler. Believing that she is moments from dying, Lyric is buying her time to save as much money as she can so they can leave this place and move to where people stop judging others based on what they think they know. .What she doesn't expect is to find her barn door destroyed late one night, and an injured man laying beneath the shattered remnants of her door. Believing he is one of the Younger brothers, a notorious gang of outlaws living in Missouri, she believes she is in for a reward if she can convince the sheriff to come and get him. She didn't count on the sheriff being so afraid that he refuses to venture up to her property to identify him. Now she will have to find a way to get the man to town in order to collect her reward and hopefully get out of town a whole lot sooner than she expected.

Now if she can figure out who this man is, but unfortunately not even he can help. Seems that running into her barn door that night has caused him to lose whatever memory he had and he isn't able to provide any identification, since he isn't carrying any. How can Lyric be sure that by turning over this man to the sheriff that she won't be sentencing an innocent man to hanging if he isn't guilty? How will they ever figure out just who this man really is? If he isn't wanted, then she will be living here a whole lot longer than she wanted since she doesn't have enough money for them to leave right now.

I received A Healer's Touch by Lori Copeland compliments of Harvest House Publishers for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed here are strictly my own. I love the combination of the mysterious lights along with the western romantic flair. It's like Ghost Hunters meets Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. The beginning of this one was a bit slow and took me a bit to get into the story, but about 1/3 of the way through, I was engaged in the dilemma that Lyric faces in how to determine the outcome of a man's fate when she didn't know if he was a wanted man or not. In a time when information was slow coming and justice was doled out swiftly, it would be easy to wonder how many innocent men might have been hanged based on hearsay instead of known facts. For those that love a bit of western romance along with the mysterious spook lights, you will definitely want to pick this one up. I even found myself researching them on YouTube. You just might be surprised at what you will find! I'd rate this one a 4 out of 5 stars and it includes a discussion guide at the conclusion of this novel.

Four Weddings and a Kiss

For as long as I can remember, I've been a huge fan of western romance fiction. Something about the simplicity of living a life in the wilderness where danger lurks on the horizon and romance can be found sweeping us away into another time. For those that love Western Romance as much as I do, you might want to pick up the latest novel in the Western Bride Collection, Four Weddings and a Kiss. This one combines four amazing romance stories from authors Margaret Brownley, Debra Clopton, Mary Connealy and Robin Lee Hatcher, who are experts at making us fall for those tall drinks of water and falling in love over and over again on the western range, in one amazing book.

In Spitfire Sweetheart from Mary Connealy, Maizy MacGregor takes on Rylan Carstens when her independent spirit causes Rylan to quite literally fall for her. Now injured and unable to work his ranch, it's going to take all of her efforts to help him realize that there is more to her than simply a pretty face beneath those man's britches!

In A Love Letter to The Editor from Robin Lee Hatcher, Molly Hatcher dreamed that when her father was ready to retire from running the newspaper, he would name her as his replacement. Yet when he informs her that he has solicited the efforts of Jack Lovegrove instead, Molly will make sure he doesn't find anything in Killdeer worth staying for.

A Cowboy for Katie from Debra Clopton takes readers into the broken and wounded spirit of Katie Pearl, the survivor of a tornado that kept her buried beneath her home while her father died. Now nicknamed "Crazy Katie," she enlists the help of Treb Rayburn a cowboy who plans on staying in Midway, Texas long enough to make enough money to buy a horse and set off to see the world. He has no plans on marriage and that is just what Katie is looking for when she hires him to help rebuild her ranch.

Finally in Courting Trouble, Margaret Brownley takes us into the upcoming trial of Black Widow, Grace Davenport who has been arrested for the death of three husbands. But did she really do it? Her son believes she has been a victim of bad circumstances and hires local attorney Brock Daniels to defend his mother. But Brock isn't interested in defending anyone, so what will it take to defend Grace and give him a new lease on life?

I received Four Weddings and a Kiss by Margaret Brownley, Robin Lee Hatcher, Debra Clopton and Mary Connealy compliments of Thomas Nelson Publishers and Litfuse Publicity for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions contained here are strictly my own. I have so many Western Romance novels from each of these remarkable women in my personal library and loved gaining this unique collection of stories to add to my growing collection. Each of these stories shows that even the unlikeliest of couples can find true happiness in whatever their situation despite the odds set against them. They are people that God brings together to find more than just love, but healing and forgiveness as well. I easily give this collection a 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion!

The Lawman's Oklahoma Sweetheart

During the Oklahoma Land Rush in the late 1800's, people can from all over the country hoping to grab a slice of land and begin to live the American dream. Folks would do just about anything and head in any direction to gain the slice of prosperity just ripe for the picking to begin a family and a future. But there were also those who ventured to make a bit of profit from those innocent enough and weak enough not to put up a fight, when so called "accidents" began to happen.

Four men simply known as the Black Four were helping things along by ensuring certain weaker settlers met with more bad luck than others. Worst of all some of these men were of the local "Security Patrol" which led to people not suspecting them of any wrong doing. As the Black Four, these calvarymen had done exactly where they were out here charged to prevent: cut fences, set fires, let livestock loose and a whole host of other crimes. Acts designed to intimate folks out of their land. As a result, the scared settlers had sold their stakes at cheap prices and to the right convenient buyers.

Now all Sheriff Clint Thornton had to do was prove that the Black Four were behind all these events and the only was he will be able to do that is to convince them, he is truly on their side. I mean it doesn't hurt the group of men to have the law in your back pocket. How convenient when people begin to grow suspicious. But when the band of men targets Lars Brinkerhoff and his sister Katrine, they are about to go too far in order to get him to sell his land. This time the group has murder on their minds and they won't stop until they get what they want.

I received The Lawman's Oklahoma Sweetheart by Allie Pleiter compliments of Harlequin Love Inspired Publishers and Christian Fiction Blog Alliance for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation and the opinions expressed here are strictly my own. For anyone who loves a great Christian Western Romance, you will want to snatch this one up. It's a small enough paperback to tuck it in anywhere for a great adventure, and perfect for a summer read. I give this one a 4 out of 5 stars and this is book 3 in the Bridegroom Brother Series. It teaches us all that in the midst of difficult family feuds, resolution and forgiveness are all that is needed for a restoration to occur. No damage is ever too deep that God can't heal the rift that keeps you apart. There is even a sneak peek at Her Montana Cowboy, a new six part series in the Big Sky Centennial guaranteed to wet your appetite.

A Bride for Keeps

The last thing that Everett Cline wants right now is for another woman to step foot off the train looking for marriage from him. After three unsuccessful attempts to finding a wife to help him on his farm, and all of them not working out in his favor he has lost interest in finding anyone who will marry him. After his failed attempts at finding love through mail order brides, first one married someone else before getting off the train, the second one died before arriving and the third took one look at what he was asking her to help with on the farm, and opted for someone else. Now his sister Rachel is involved with a friend who believes she is just the right woman for Everett. But when Julia Lockwood arrives in town, she turns just about every head there is, women and men.

Julia Lockwood answered Rachel's request to marry her brother Everett in hopes of alleviating the constant demands of men wanting her for her beauty and what they hoped she could provide as the wealthy daughter of a prominent businessman from Boston. Not afraid of hard work, Julia hopes she can provide just what Everett is looking for, someone to help him out on the farm. She has already seen what her looks can do to a man that wanted to be a part of her father's business and insisted on getting it from Julia despite her attempts at refusing his advances. Now assured that besides having more than her beauty robbed of her, she's hoping she can convince Everett to marry her to ensure men won't be looking at her for anything more than being someone's else's wife. She isn't looking for love and hopes she can convince Everett she isn't one to run away from anything.

But since both Everett and Julia have been burned by their pasts, they will do whatever they can to put up false fronts that will do more than build walls around their hearts. It will also keep them from learning to love and forgiving those that have hurt them instead of making one another pay for someone else's mistakes. Yet what will it take for either of them to become truly honest and work to heal those painful pasts and teach each other what God truly wants from unconditional love? Will it take the risk of losing one another to make them appreciate what they really have or will they simply fade away into the sunset and suffer in silence with their dark mistakes?

I received A Bride for Keeps by debut author Melissa Jagears compliments of Christian Fiction Blog Alliance and Bethany House Publishers for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed in this review are my own. This is such a believable novel for me when you consider the challenges of being a mail order bride. There is no courtship and at times even those marriages are often worse than remaining single and alone. I found Julia's story to be just what I would expect and loved Everett's challenge at trying to keep his promise to refrain from taking advantage of Julia just because he is married to her, despite her beauty. She works hard to prove herself something we all try to do to earn our way into God's good graces, such is the story of Julia trying to earn Everett's favor. It simply doesn't work. This is the first novel by Melissa Jagears and it certainly won't be her last. For those of you that love a great Western Romance, this one is guaranteed to capture your heart. I rate this a 5 out of 5 stars and it has found a permanent home in my library. Melissa Jagears is now on my MUST READ list!

Fired Up

Glynna Greer is fired up! She is bound and determined after two failed marriages to men whom she thought would care for her and her two children, Paul and Janny, she has sworn off men once and for all. Thankfully her would-be rescuers this time were Regulators. Men who had sworn never to turn their back on a woman in need for that matter and after being married to Flint Greer who found enjoyment in using his hand to abuse her, she is glad that he is now dead. Now if she can only find a way to make a living for her children running the town's only diner, she might have a shot at a future.

But for Glynna the damage to her children from her previous marriage to Flint is already apparent in both of them. For Janny, she remains withdrawn and silent. She used to be the most talkative young girl but has since pulled her grief inside and that is where she remains. For Paul, trying now to be the only man in the family is a burden bigger than he is ready for. If he doesn't stand up for his mother and sister, men like Flint will always think that women are property and not the kind to be cared for and loved. So for Paul, he carries that anger around, ready to strike at the man who dares come near his ma.

For Dr. Dare Riker, it seems like all he does is attract trouble. If only he can find a way to pull himself away from the compelling gaze of Glynna's eyes and enable her to find a new life away from the man who threatened more than just her. Will Glynna be able to find a way to keep all men out of her life living in a town that is predominantly men? One thing is for sure, his business as the town's doctor is experiencing a boost to his practice now that Glynna has opened the diner. A talent for cooking isn't the one thing she can do well and one that is practically a necessity if you are running a diner. Yet Glynna seems oblivious to the poor food she is turning out when her diner remains full every day, thanks to the men who come not for the food, but for a glimpse at the beautiful owner instead.

I received Fired Up by Mary Connealy compliments of Bethany House Publishers and Litfuse Publicity for my honest review. I received no monetary compensation for a favorable review but have to say that Mary Connealy is one of my all time favorite Christian Western Romance authors. I believe I've read almost every single novel she has written and it's like Christmas when I find out she has a new novel out. It's a time for me to escape back to the old west for a story of danger among the cowboys coupled with a strong and determined female who will undoubtedly fall in love before she knows what is coming. This is the second novel in the Trouble in Texas Series and I can't wait for the next one. Who knows which character Mary will pick up to continue the journey with. I highly recommend this series if you love a great western adventure with a heroic romantic twist and for that reason this one rates a 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion.

Safe in His Arms

I've been a huge western romance fan for almost as long as I've been able to truly love reading and whenever I find a great novel that has a strong woman character it makes it all the more enjoyable. In Colleen Coble's latest novel, Safe in His Arms, we are immediately immersed into the typical ranching lifestyle of Margaret O'Brien, the daughter of a Texas cattle rancher, that feels that it's high time for her to find a respectable husband and settle down to raise a family. Only Margaret is not the typical woman most men would find attractive. She wears britches instead of dresses, does the work of most of the men that work her father's ranch, and finds married life boring.

When her father gives her an ultimatum to find a husband or he will leave the ranch to her cousin Lewis, Margaret feels cornered. No matter how hard she tries, it seems that no man will give her more than a passing glance other than her father's new foreman Daniel Cutler. However, it seems that Daniel Cutler is not all he appears to be despite his gentlemen like manners, smooth talking compliments and whenever Margaret looks into his eyes she goes weak in the knees. When Margaret overhears Daniel having a conversation with a man in a darkened alley, she feels Daniel is after the ranch and her father's money. Seems like marriage isn't all it is promised to be, especially with the likes of Daniel Cutler.

When violence finds its way on to the Triple T ranch, Margaret believes that Daniel knows more than he is letting on and sets out to prove her suspicions correct and turn Daniel into the town sheriff. Yet how can a man who quotes scripture and looks at her the way he does really not have a redemptive quality to him after all. Perhaps its up to Margaret to bring Daniel Cutler into the light and reform his dark past.

I received Safe in His Arms by Colleen Coble compliments of Thomas Nelson Publishers and Litfuse Publicity for my honest review. Another captivating novel from Colleen once again. This is the second novel in the Under The Texas Stars series with Blue Moon Promise being the first. You can feel the intensity of Margaret's character in ways she tries to measure up to her father's standards and acceptance and her own self struggle with who she really is inside. One I found myself relating to in my own life and perhaps why I identified with Margaret's character so much. It often times gives the character a low self esteem whenever she measures her self worth but what others think she should be instead of accepting herself and her own strengths that God provided when He created her. It takes her some time to see herself as others do through a series of circumstances she finds herself in the middle of and in time her own self healing begins. Truly an unforgettable story for those that love western romances! I rate this one a 4 out of 5 stars.

Unending Devotion

For Lily Young, her search will never tire. She will continue to search every single town and saloon with no danger too great for her to bare along with Oren, an elderly photographer she travels with as his assistant take pictures of shanty workers for money. Even though she's been searching for her runaway younger sister Daisy whom she believes now works in a saloon for money, she vows she will continue to search for her, no matter how long it takes. Even if she can't save her sister, Lily finds God's calling in her life to help any of the young girls that are looking to escape the life of prostitution and working for saloon owners who will do anything it takes to ensure that their girls stay put. Most of the time it involves taking their shoes and outer clothing now that winter has set in, but Lily is on a mission and no matter how long it takes she will never give up her unending devotion to find her sister.

As Oren and Lily arrive in the town of Harrison, Michigan just as winter is setting in, she finds herself the center of attention when she enters the Northern Hotel being one of just four hotels in Harrison with temperance leanings. Only when she enters, she finds the dining room filled to capacity with more shanty men staring at her as if they had never seen a woman before. But Lily knew she was a rarity in any lumber town, only in that she wasn't up on the table dancing in her skimpies. When she asks Mrs. Heller if there are any rooms available, more than one of the men are too willing to offer her a free place to stay with them.

It isn't until a struggle ensures between Jimmy, a drunken shanty man and another one wanting to lay claim to Lily that Connell McCormick rises to put an end to this public tug of war using Lily as a rope between the two. But Lily can stand on her own two feet and since the men apparently have taken their shoes off to allow their boots to dry, she takes the liberty in measuring out her own form of discipline on their stocking feet with her own boots. She is immediately thrown into the arms of Connell and they land in a heap on the floor tangled in a line of drying socks by the fire. It seems that this is just the beginning of the many such entanglements between Lily and Connell while she remains in town. Will Lily find more than just a search for her sister in the town whose nickname is Hell's Waiting Room? Or will Lily find herself trapped in more ways than one in the town of Harrison?

I received Unending Devotion by Jody Hedlund compliments of Bethany House Publishers and Litfuse Publicity for my honest review. Since this is one of my preferred genre's, I couldn't wait to read this book and was immediately captivated by the characters that Jody created. I could completely understand the impatience of Lily Young who senses the more time that has gone by the greater the urgency becomes to find and save her sister before it's too late. She always wants to do the right thing, even if it means going it alone despite all the dangers. Eventually however, all those impulse responses gets Lily in more trouble than she bargained for and almost cost her, her life! I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars because it kept me interested without the lulls you find in some novels. Jody did an exceptional job at keeping the reader engaged with non stop action as the search for her sister continues through the novel and the romantic tension develops between her and Connell. For those that love a bit of spicy western romance, then this is the one for you!

Over The Edge - Facebook Party and Giveaway

How can you completely forget that you're married? Or that you have a son? Well that's exactly what is happening to Seth Kincaid, the youngest of the Kincaid brothers who suddenly finds himself at the scene of a stagecoach robbery. Only Seth is the one being shot at. When more men arrive from Colorado City with the sheriff, the learn that the only occupant remaining in the stagecoach is a woman, named Callie who was defending the coach against the robbers who already shot both the driver and his partner.

When Seth finds out the woman in the coach is his long-forgotten wife Callie, he immediately picks up right where he left off, carrying for her injuries and learning he has a son, Connor that was rescued by the parson when he left to go find help during the robbery. Now Callie is hailed as a hero by the town for saving the lives of the men from the stage coach but she only wants answers to why Seth left her and never came back. But Seth has been having many lapses in memory and that is why he is living on the land provided to him by the remaining Kincaid brothers, Rafe and Ethan in his own cabin. This way they can watch over him but still allow him to live an independent life.
Only what will they say when they learn that Seth has a family that has come calling for him?

In the Kincaid Bride Series by Mary Connealy, Over The Edge is the third novel that digs deeper into the lives of each of the Kincaid brothers with this one detailing Seth's life a little more. The brothers lives and those of their families still remain at stake when a man is still looking for them, Henry Jasper Duff who he believes has his money that was stolen by Wendell Gilliland. Now Jasper has had to live on the run hiding with his wife Bea, from those that he owes a great deal of money to from his opium trades. No matter how much Bea tries to convince him to forget the money, Jasper is just bidding his time until he can corner the brothers and get back what he believes belongs to him.

I received Over The Edge compliments of Bethany House Publishers and Litfuse Publicity for my honest review. Having read the previous two in this series, Out of Control and In Too Deep, I couldn't wait to read this one to get to know Seth Kincaid more. Having experiences PTSD from the Civil War, Seth at times has the mind of a much younger man who sees things in a much simpler format, being more spontaneous in his actions and a bit impulsive at times without thinking things through. He also suffers from horrible nightmares which Callie still remembers that border more on night terrors. I couldn't wait to see where the money has been hidden or if there is a stash of money since it has been the conflict that runs through the other two novels in the series and keeps the family's constantly looking over their shoulders for the next threat on their lives. I can easily rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars and if you truly love a great Christian Western Romance with a touch of suspense added, then you will LOVE this series.

Spring Hope

Being a huge fan of western romances, I am always thrilled when I receive a request to review a book in that genre. Today was no exception. I received Spring Hope by Martha Rogers compliments of Christian Fiction Blog Alliance for my honest review and think this one was exceptional. This is book 4, in the Seasons of The Heart series and what's perfect is being able to read this one as a stand alone. I hadn't had the delight to read the previous three but now, I know I will be going back to pick those up as well based on Martha's ability to create a character readers can relate to.

In Spring Hope, we meet Libby Cantrell who is running away from a painful past. After her mother died, her father found that he could profit off of Libby's beauty and sold her into prostitution at the local saloon. When she tried to resist, he beat her into submission. Finally she find that by running away from her father she might be able to start a life over again someplace far away. Unfortunately, God had different plans for her.

Cold, weary and sick, Libby falls quite literally into the town of Portersfield, Texas late one night and Deputy Sheriff Cory Muldoon finds her behind the general store. Taking her to the doctor, she soon finds that every person she encounters in this small town offers her a second chance of acceptance. If she is only willing to share the truth and with that facing the judgement of the town, she falls back into hiding provides them with a false name of sort, Elizabeth Bradley, her real birth name but her mother's maiden name.

Cory Muldoon fears she is running from more than she is willing to let on, and struggles to find out just what that is. Searching wanted posters, he can't seem to locate the reason for the fear in her eyes and why she pulls away from those wanting to help her. He also can't seem to keep his feelings for her in the right place, when he fears that she may very well break his heart if he is honest with himself. Cory prays that God will lead him in the right direction and that He will guide him on his path to finding out the truth.

But when fate comes calling and a man shows up in town that knows Libby's past, will all hell break loose and cause Libby once more to run from a life that she believes God has placed in her path, or will she finally come to believe that God does care enough about her despite her own unwillingness to forgive her past and come to accept the life He has laid out in front of her? Guess, you'll have to pick this one up to find out the answers! I easily rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars and was able to finish this one in a matter of hours. I really is a wonderful story set in the late 1800's and has a powerful message about forgiveness and judging people.

Song of My Heart

It's always a privilege when one of your favorite authors comes out with a new book and you get so excited because you just know it's going to be great! Song of My Heart by Kim Vogel Sawyer is no exception. Taking the reader right back into the heart of Dalton, Indiana in 1895, we find ourselves in the home of the Wagner family, where their father has suffered a terrible accident and is now trying to recover. Feeling the financial burden of having their father out of work, Sadie is relieved when a letter arrives as an answer to their prayers.

Her cousin Sid has found work and a new life in Goldtree, Kansas and has sent word to Sadie that he has secured employment for her as well as a clerk in the General Store as well as an audition for a singer in the Opera House. A dream come true for Sadie and even more so, when her parents agree to let her go to help them out until her father can get well enough to return to work.

So Sadie sets out for what she hopes will be a life-changing experience in the heart of a small town of Goldtree! Arriving on the dirt filled streets, worn and weary she meets up with her cousin Sid, who introduces her to Melva and Shelva Baxter, the elderly twin ladies who run the General Store. It is their brother Asa who wants her to audition for a singer in the Opera House which is located just beneath the mercantile due to construction costs. But that's not all that's buried beneath the town of Goldtree as the new sheriff is about to discover.

Thad McKane has been hired to find out about an illegal bootlegging operation that threatens to undermine the growth of Goldtree and that's something the mayor does not want to see happen. Thad feels he has to make amends for his father's reputation and offers to take the job in hopes of saving the town, but will God have other plans in store for Sheriff McKane?

I received Song of My Heart by Kim Vogel Sawyer compliments of Christian Fiction Blog Alliance for my honest review and LOVED it, right down to the dust covered streets and the wild bunch of characters found between the pages. This is a western romance with a twist that shows that nothing we can do short of asking God for forgiveness will make things right. It's a story about God's grace and mercy set in the heart of a western Kansas town. This one will make your heart sing with a 5 out of 5 star rating.

Lonestar Angel

Clay Larson had a job that kept him away from his new wife Eden and at times put his own life at risk as a photo journalist in the drug lord filled jungles in Columbia. When their only infant daughter Brianna is suddenly kidnapped and a ransom offered, the Larson's marriage will be put to the ultimate test. Feeling this has something to do with his job, Clay is more than willing to put up the ten-thousand dollar ransom demand. However in the process of delivering the money to the drop site on a rain slick road, Eden rear ends the car with her daughter and the kidnappers inside causing the car to plunge into the icy river and no one survived.

Now torn between their grief, the Larson's can't seem to put their marriage back together. Eden feels responsible for the loss of their daughter, and Clay feels that his job put them at risk in the first place. Now five years later, the Larson's have moved on, without each other. Eden believes she has been divorced from Clay but when he suddenly shows up claiming their daughter may still be alive, will God have other plans for Clay and Eden?

In the novel, Lonestar Angel by Colleen Coble, we see how grief can tear a marriage apart but ultimately God will have other plans as both of them are now united in a search for their missing daughter, Brianna who could be 5 now if she is in fact alive. Will the Larson's discover the glue that binds marriages together or will they be torn more by reliving their grief once again?

I received this novel compliments of Thomas Nelson Publishers and Net Galley for my honest review and absolutely loved the story of love torn apart and God revealing Himself in the midst of a parents worst nightmare. This is a story about faith, hope and love, the three greatest gifts God has to offer anyone who believes in Him. I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars for those that love western modern day romance stories with suspense thrown in to add some spice.

When All My Dreams Come True

Bobbie McIntyre is one of the best ranch hands around. Bobbie can wrestle a calf, rope it and brand it faster than most. Bobbie also is one of the best sharp shooters around. Bobbie's reputation is well known in these parts. So when Jace Kincaid is in need of another ranch hand, and receives a letter telling him that Bobbie is on the way to his ranch, he is looking for more than what he finds.

Jace Kincaid has been dealing with cattle rustling and someone changing the brands on his cattle. Unless he can find out just who is doing it, Jace will have to shut down his ranch and let those who depend on him find another way to support themselves.

So when Jace runs into Bobbie on the outskirts of his ranch, he believes he may have found just whose been stealing his cattle. It also doesn't help much when Bobbie runs when confronted by Jace. It's only when Bobbie is knocked off the horse that things on the ranch are about to get interesting. Bobbie McIntyre is a 19 year old girl!

I received the novel by Janelle Mowery, When All My Dreams Come True, compliments of Christian Fiction Blog Alliance for my honest review. Being a huge fan of Christian Western Romance stories, I knew I couldn't wait to begin my first page. I was not disappointed.

I love the rugged outer exterior that Bobbie has to convey to show she can pull her weight on the ranch, especially when the men all give her grief. I love the vulnerability she displays when confronting her faith in God with Jace's sister Annie, and most of all the love that grows between Jace and Bobbie, along with struggles of trust that come right off the pages of this novel and dwell inside your heart. This one is a great addition to your must read list and rates a perfect 5 out of 5 stars.

Here's even more great information about the book, the author and a first chapter glimpse that is guaranteed to have you wanting to read this amazing story. This book is available in paperback, eBook and hardcover formats.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Bobbie McIntyre dreams of running a ranch of her own. Raised without a mother and having spent most of her time around men, she knows more about wrangling than acting like a lady. The friendship of her new employer awakens a desire to learn more about presenting her feminine side, but ranch life keeps getting in the way.

Ranch owner Jace Kincaid figures the Lord is testing his faith when a female wrangler shows up looking for work. Bobbie has an uncanny way of getting under his skin, though, and he’s surprised when she finds a home next to his heart. But when his cattle begin to go missing and his wranglers are in danger from some low-down cattle thief, can Jace trust God, even if it may mean giving up on his dreams?

An adventurous novel of faith, hope, and love in the Wild West.

Journey To Riverbend

April 10, 1878, was a day that an innocent man was hung. Ben Carstairs was charged with a crime that neither the sheriff or Michael Archer could prove innocent, so they sat by while Ben hung. His last wish was for Michael to return his dead mother's cross to his estranged father, Sam and hopefully explain to his father how truly sorry he was for being a disappointment to him.

Michael Archer is a man with a dark past but since finding salvation in Jesus, he is looking to find a new start in life. So when his path leads him to Riverbend in search of Sam Carstairs, he finds more than a new life there, but hope in Rachel Stone.

Rachel Stone is a woman with a past life she wished never existed. Traded among the men in her life beginning with her uncle and then sold in prostitution with Red Mary, she longs for the day when she can walk the streets of Riverbend and have men not leer at her with lust and women turn away with disgust. She too is hoping to start a new life in Riverbend thanks to the generous funding of Sam Carstairs to open a dress shop called Rachel's Hope. Little does she know the plans God has in mind for her the moment she gave her life to Him to redeem.

Since the world of Riverbend revolves around Sam Carstairs, one of the biggest and wealthiest land owners in town, he has little to fear. Yet one day as Sam is returning from San Francisco on a stage, he receives a letter from someone in his past that is about to come collecting on a debt that Sam had hoped would never surface.

When Sam goes missing from the stage along with a newlywed couple, the town will all unite to bring Sam home no matter the cost. God however has a master plan in mind when it comes to the people of Riverbend.

I received the novel Journey To Riverbend by Henry McLaughlin compliments of Tyndale House Publishers for my honest review. I loved it! Being a huge fan of western romance, I craved the open trail and the search for love and redemption in the town of Riverbend. The characters are well written so that you can come to get to know them like friends. I was hooked from the very first page and commend Henry McLaughlin for a brilliant first novel. This one rates 5 out of 5 stars. Here's hoping for even more from this amazing and talented author.

This book is available in paperback and eBook formats. For more information about the author, the book and where to pick up this book for your cold nights, click on the link below:
