Kissed by A Cowboy

"Cassidy Starr was looking for a home and a place to belong...not for a cowboy to steal her heart."

Deep down inside my heart, I have always had a soft spot for great looking cowboys who have a heart of gold for both animals and romance. Guess that is why I married my own. However I have been in love with Debra Clopton's romance series, A Four of Hearts Romance Series, and her third book, Kissed by a Cowboy gives readers a look into the heart of another of the Monahan brothers, this time with Jarrod, the oldest. While the younger brothers have found their fame and fortune outside of ranching, Jarrod has attempted to do what he can to save the family's cattle ranch business after a foolish debt by a younger brother almost cost them everything including their legacy. But life on the ranch isn't easy as it seems some one is stealing cattle off the property and that is bad for business all the way around. But Jarrod has his hands full with more than trying to figure out who is stealing their livestock.

Cassidy Starr has moved back home to take over her family home as well since her aunt Roxie passed away leaving her everything including the kitchen sink. Cassidy hopes that she will be able to sort through all the stuff her aunt had been storing in both her home and the adjacent barn and open up a bed and breakfast complete with a fully operational organic strawberry farm. She wants to forget all about her past and that includes a marriage with a man who spent more time with other women than his wife and now is trying to mend that portion of her life with no interest in ever getting married again.

She just didn't expect to come into contact with her own first love, Jarrod Monahan who is everything she ever wanted but doesn't want to admit. Even his friendly offers to help her around the property is rejected because she is still nursing old wounds of relying on a man to help with a future, and she saw what they had cost her in her past. She has learned one thing and that is to not make the same mistake twice, but is Jarrod the same as her ex or will he offer her the one thing she has always wanted an that is an honest and true love? The sparks are sure to fly!

I received Kissed by A Cowboy by Debra Clopton compliments of Thomas Nelson Publishers and Litfuse Publicity for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation, aside from a free copy of this novel in exchange for my honest and personal evaluation. The best part of coming to the conclusion of this novel is that there is one more left in the series so readers get a sneak peek of that in this one along with some discussion guide questions that is perfect for book clubs. Like I stated above, I have a heart for those handsome rugged, but soft-hearted cowboys and loved the first two books in the series, Betting on Hope and Counting on a Cowboy in which we still get to see those families that we have come to love again through this one as the family continues to grow. Well worth 4.5 out of 5 stars in my opinion and a must have for fans of Christian contemporary romance fiction!

Counting on a Cowboy

Thankfully, I have never to this date, experienced the loss of a spouse, but I know many who have, and it is not an easy place to be. Often times, well meaning people, will believe that enough time has passed in their books, for that person to be willing to move forward, but what we fail to realize is that it is different for everyone. What we need to do, is to be there for them, as often as they need us and never underplay what they are feeling or dealing with from one day to another. That is the premise behind Debra Clopton's novel, Counting on a Cowboy, the second novel in the Four of Hearts Ranch Romance Series.

I quite literally read this in a couple of hours, it was simply that good. I mean who wouldn't want a handsome cowboy like Bo Monahan to be interested in helping you out. For Abby Knightly, she isn't. The only reason she sold her home and moved to Wishing Springs, Texas was to start over and based on the advice columns she read from Maggie, this was a ladies paradise for all the right reasons beginning with the eligible men that lived there. This wasn't the reason she moved here, she simply had to get away from all those well meaning friends and family that felt after two years, the loss of her husband Landon, should be old news by now. She should be willing to look for love again. For Abby, she was just ready to leave that all behind, but the problem was that no matter how far away she moved, unless she was ready to deal with things, it would follow her for the rest of her life.

Bo Monahan wasn't looking for love until it hit him, well almost anyway. Trying to corral a wayward steer, put himself in the middle of the road at night and cause Abby to swerve her car and put her into a ditch. Knowing he was partially to blame, he offers to be her escort around town until her car can be fixed. He just doesn't know that the more time he spends with Abby, and the more she tries to push him away, the more deeper he gets in his feelings for her. Thankfully, he has to put his mind on other things like a baby that is dumped on his porch that claims he is the father and that if this has happened, then the mother has passed away from cancer. Life certainly just got interesting in Wishing Springs and for some it will be quite life changing in more ways than one.

I received Counting On A Cowboy by Debra Clopton compliments of Thomas Nelson Publishers and Litfuse Publicity. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review aside from a free copy of the book. and the opinions contained here are my own personal and honest opinions. This is such a wonderful heartwarming story because it deals with loss on a different level. It shows us that no matter what we are all facing in our life we can make it through it when we rely on God's promises found in the Bible. We just need to learn to lean on Him and one day before we know it, will we arrive on the other side in our own timing and with His! This one is worth 4.5 out of 5 stars and I can't wait for the final novel in this series Kissed By A Cowboy which is slated for release in February of 2016. I will be sad to see it end for the Monahan family!

Betting on Hope

The man smelled like leather and sunshine and something spicy that drew her like a hummingbird to sugar water. She had to fight the urge to lean in and inhale. - Love it when you find great lines like these in a novel. (Betting on Hope, Debra Clopton). This had to be my favorite line in the latest novel from Debra Clopton. Here she introduces her readers to a new series, Four of Hearts Ranch Romance and Betting on Hope is the first novel to lead off this amazing series. If you love a great romance with a gentlemen-like cowboy, you will definitely want to make plans to rope this one up at your local retailer.

The series takes place in Wishing Springs, a small "Mayberry-like" community. The residents mean well but often find themselves in the middle of something that should have been better left alone. Tru Monahan is their local boy who has made a name for himself with his "Hollywood" good looks and manners that can smooth talk just about anyone he applies his warm words to. For Maggie Hope, she is the latest victim who falls hook, line and sinker, for Tru's cowboy like good looks and gentlemanly manners that quite literally keep sweeping her off her feet and into his arms. Maggie is known for being a bit clumsy and she wasn't at all prepared for this last minute interview with Tru Monahan for the local morning news show. Prepared with only a handful of questions, from her boss Amanda, Maggie steps in to interview Tru when Amanda falls ill. Just as the interview is about to spiral out of control, Tru does what he does best, sweet talking Maggie into staying calm and relaxing. That just puts more pressure on her to stick to being professional and stop falling for his dreamy eyes.

Soon the comments between the two being flying as Maggie tries to convey to Tru she wouldn't be caught dead on a horse. Tru responds that he can teach anyone to ride and soon an on the air bet challenges them both to a contest. Tru will have two month so teach Maggie not only to get over her fear of horses and riding but to also compete in a cutting contest. Maggie doesn't feel like this is something she can manage, but when Amanda threatens to pull her advice column, Gotta Have Hope, Maggie knows she will have to put all that advice she's been handing out to everyone on her column and learn to find her own sense of hope in this situation. But will she be able to maintain a professional distance or will she fall in love with the man who seems to be all wrong for her?

I received Betting on Hope by Debra Clopton compliments of Thomas Nelson Publishers and Litfuse Publicity for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed here are strictly my own unless otherwise notated. This novel central theme is all about sacrifice and how each person will be required to give up something for the sake of someone else. For some it will be a life changing one, while others will simply have to learn to let go of their pasts and see that they're not accountable for those mistakes that were made by others in their lives. This is a great series that I can't wait to get my hands on the next novel "Counting on A Cowboy." I easily give this one a 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion and it even includes a Reader's Discussion Guide at the conclusion of this novel that is perfect for book clubs.

Four Weddings and a Kiss

For as long as I can remember, I've been a huge fan of western romance fiction. Something about the simplicity of living a life in the wilderness where danger lurks on the horizon and romance can be found sweeping us away into another time. For those that love Western Romance as much as I do, you might want to pick up the latest novel in the Western Bride Collection, Four Weddings and a Kiss. This one combines four amazing romance stories from authors Margaret Brownley, Debra Clopton, Mary Connealy and Robin Lee Hatcher, who are experts at making us fall for those tall drinks of water and falling in love over and over again on the western range, in one amazing book.

In Spitfire Sweetheart from Mary Connealy, Maizy MacGregor takes on Rylan Carstens when her independent spirit causes Rylan to quite literally fall for her. Now injured and unable to work his ranch, it's going to take all of her efforts to help him realize that there is more to her than simply a pretty face beneath those man's britches!

In A Love Letter to The Editor from Robin Lee Hatcher, Molly Hatcher dreamed that when her father was ready to retire from running the newspaper, he would name her as his replacement. Yet when he informs her that he has solicited the efforts of Jack Lovegrove instead, Molly will make sure he doesn't find anything in Killdeer worth staying for.

A Cowboy for Katie from Debra Clopton takes readers into the broken and wounded spirit of Katie Pearl, the survivor of a tornado that kept her buried beneath her home while her father died. Now nicknamed "Crazy Katie," she enlists the help of Treb Rayburn a cowboy who plans on staying in Midway, Texas long enough to make enough money to buy a horse and set off to see the world. He has no plans on marriage and that is just what Katie is looking for when she hires him to help rebuild her ranch.

Finally in Courting Trouble, Margaret Brownley takes us into the upcoming trial of Black Widow, Grace Davenport who has been arrested for the death of three husbands. But did she really do it? Her son believes she has been a victim of bad circumstances and hires local attorney Brock Daniels to defend his mother. But Brock isn't interested in defending anyone, so what will it take to defend Grace and give him a new lease on life?

I received Four Weddings and a Kiss by Margaret Brownley, Robin Lee Hatcher, Debra Clopton and Mary Connealy compliments of Thomas Nelson Publishers and Litfuse Publicity for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions contained here are strictly my own. I have so many Western Romance novels from each of these remarkable women in my personal library and loved gaining this unique collection of stories to add to my growing collection. Each of these stories shows that even the unlikeliest of couples can find true happiness in whatever their situation despite the odds set against them. They are people that God brings together to find more than just love, but healing and forgiveness as well. I easily give this collection a 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion!

A Bride for All Seasons

Looking for a great collection of historical romance stories compiled by some best selling authors surrounding mail-order brides? Then look no further than A Bride For All Seasons, the mail-order bride collection by Margaret Brownley, Debra Clopton, Mary Connealy, and Robin Lee Hatcher. Each of these talented authors showcases their own unique spin on the mail-order brides set in the late 1800's with a seasonal flair. All of these stories takes place at different times of the year and responds to correspondence related to ads placed in the Hitching Post Mail Order Bride Catalogue.

And Then Came Spring starts out this charming collection by Margaret Brownley, a first time experience with this author for me, but definitely not the last for sure. Mary Jo Parker arrives in Colton, Kansas hoping to meet her soon-to-be husband Daniel Garrett at the train station. However when she arrives, he is no where to be seen. After waiting for well over two hours, Mary Jo goes searching for the husband that has apparently forgotten about her, but when she rushes into the local church, she soon realizes that the reason Daniel is late is he is now dead and she has just found herself at his funeral. With no funds available, Mary Jo hopes she can find a way to put her talents as a seamstress to work to earn enough money to return home. Will love find her in Kansas instead?

An Ever After Summer is showcased by author Debra Clopton, another first time author experience for me. I actually loved this one the best because of the tall, dark, stranger that Ellie Smith meets as she exits the train hoping to find a man in need of a wife and someone to care for his now orphaned daughter. She is more than horrified to learn that the ad she answered was leaving a few key points out, the biggest being no "Bible-thumpers" need apply. Well Mathew McConnell has another thing coming if he thinks he can simply put her back on the train when she is determined to make this marriage work in Honey Springs, Texas.

Autumn's Angel by Robin Lee Hatcher introduces us to Luvena Abbott who comes to Nebraska in search of a husband and father for her nieces and nephews. Only thing is that Clay Birch was adamant to make sure that his mail order bride was a single woman with no children. Just how is he supposed to bring a ready made family to Grand Coeur, a place that is certainly no place for children with all the saloons in town. Only how can Clay send Luvena packing when she has no way to pay for train fare not only for herself but for the children as well. Can she find a way to reach Clay's heart to open wide enough to accept them all?

And lastly Winter Wedding Bells by Mary Connealy, one of my favorite historical authors rounds out the collection taking us to Wyoming to aid a dying man with the hopes of finding a mother for his young boys before he time is up? How will he be able to get anyone to answer his ad when the prospects she must has will be for a lifetime of love and his time is just about up? Can Megan McBride show David Laramie that the only one who can tell him when his time is up in God?

Each of these wonderful historical romances are short enough to get through when you have a little time but want the effect of a full length novel. These introduce the reader wonderfully to the historical romance authors that are showcased in this collection. There is something off on the ads that each recipient answers and the truth is bound to be discovered sooner or later. In each of these, ultimately it takes time and patience to show that God has plans in everything in our lives whether we know it or not.

I received A Bride for All Seasons compliments of Thomas Nelson Publishers and Litfuse Publicity for my honest review and received no monetary compensation for a favorable review. I rate this one hands down a full 5 out of 5 stars just based on the different perspectives you gain from each author taking their turn at a common topic, in this case, mail order brides and can't wait for the next collection coming soon, Four Weddings and A Kiss. This is such a wonderful idea and I love reading collections like this one. It really feels like you are getting four novels in one.
