All Saints - Movie Ticket Giveaway

From the makers of films like Miracles From Heaven and the War Room,  Provident Films and Sony Affirm Pictures once again has created what I believe will be another life changing movie. All Saints is coming soon to a theater near you on August 25th and with it the chance to win a pair of movie tickets to go see the film in theaters. All Saints is a movie based on true life events and takes a pastor, Michael Spurlock played by John Corbett who is sent to a small town to close the All Saints church due to low or what some might say is poor attendance. There are only 12 current members attending. Using his prior sales experience Michael is given inspiration to try one more time to see what he can do to generate interest in the church.

With the arrival of a group of Burmese refugees who understand the power of faith, they help inspire Michael to give God a chance to revive the church again. He is reminded that when Jesus started the church on earth, he began with just 12 people too and yet He did alright. Coupled with the faith and hope of those who can see God's hand in making use of their talents, from beginning a farm based on the great soil surrounding the church, and being reminded that we all have a purpose to serve by being created. Kind of like Matthew West's song, Do Something. Sometimes we all wait around in this world hoping for a better world and hoping that it will come about without us having to lift a finger. What if God's purpose is for us all to contribute while we still have breath in our lungs. That is what Pastor Spurlock will face when he struggles to understand his purpose by being assigned to save this church.

After all, what will happen if the church closes? Then what will those who attended do? Makes you consider what might happen if that very thing happened even within the doors of our own church, because we have come to expect that others will step up so we can have a place to worship. What happens when those around you go hungry and there isn't resources to feed them. Pastor Spurlock believes God has called him to do just that. To not only save the church, but to feed the people both the come to All Saints but even those in the community in hopes that a small spark will ignite into a flaming fire of redemption and restoration. From a seed of faith, grows hope!

To Joey, With Love - DVD Review and Giveway

Just how does anyone come to terms with saying goodbye knowing you are going to die? Is there any way to prepare for the loss not only are you going to feel but also for your family and friends who have to stand by and watch as cancer robs the life of another precious saint?

Most people can say that they recall the story of Joey and Rory Feek, a country music duo, who faced such a hardship. In March of 2016, Joey Feek quietly walked into the arms of Jesus and entered into eternity despite all the best known attempts at beating cancer. Some people might say that she lost her battle. That despite the many months of prayers for a miracle, she simply didn't get one. Yet she was healed of her cancer. It may have robbed this precious wife and mom of her earthly life, but where she dwells now in heaven, cancer can no longer touch her and one day she will be eternally reunited with her family and friends, never having to say Goodbye again.

In the DVD, To Joey, With Love, this documentary chronicles this story of both the love and faith of Joey and Rory Feek, the birth of their daughter Indiana, who was born with Down's Syndrome, and the loss of the life of a mother for her two-year-old daughter. Thankfully the couple had the insight to film this journey and viewer of this DVD get a look at the personal journey that most never saw. The courageous battle to beat cancer this side of heaven, and the decision to quietly give up treatments when the cancer refused to shrink.

I believe that everyone will take away something different from watching this love story. For me, it is the love is eternal and everlasting. Perhaps that is why the Bible says that the greatest gift from God is love. It transcends time and space and it is the one thing we will take with us when we breathe our final breath on earth and take our first one in heaven. It shows that her faith in God never wavered in spite of all the doctor's diagnosis. Perhaps this one hits home for me, was my dear friend is also facing her third diagnosis of cancer. One thing is certain, the battle isn't ours to wage but God's and faith can be found woven into the entire documentary.

I received To Joey, With Love compliments of Icon Media Group. It is the hardest DVD I had to watch and review because it hits home for me as a wife and mother. It is a beautiful love story that had the pause button pressed for now, but one day will continue and will be the true story of happily ever after. I am so humbled by this mother's faith and the love she shows for her daughter, even as she knows her time is growing short. For me this will be one that stay with me, long after the movie ends and thus the reason for a 5 out of 5 stars!

Now for the amazing part, thanks to the blessed generosity of Icon Media Goup, they are offering a DVD of To Joey, With Love to one lucky follower of my blog Reviews From The Heart. Here are the details to enter.

Saving Christmas - Review and Giveaway

It seems like every Christmas there is a debate over the validity over what people choose to incorporate as part of their Christmas celebrations. Some people don't like anything but nativity and others pull out all the stops with Christmas trees, Santa Claus and everything under the sun. But how has Christmas gotten so twisted with so many divisions over what should and shouldn't be allowed, are the Christmas Trees and Santa Claus really pagan symbols? What about Jesus, isn't He being lost in all the commercialism, in all the buying of presents? You might just be surprised if you're one of the many who believed that there are some things that should be omitted from your Christmas celebration besides the words Merry Christmas.

Kirk Cameron decided to dig deep into the origins of Santa Claus, the Christmas Tree and many of the other decorations we put up as part of our Christmas celebrations. It seems lately the joy is been completely taken out of Christmas and instead leaving us even more divided on the issue than ever before. In his movie Saving Christmas that is in select theaters on November 14th, Kirk finds himself at his sister Bridgett's Christmas party. Everyone is in the full spirit of celebrating except for her husband Christian. Christian has excluded himself from the celebration because he firmly believes that all this Christmas stuff has put Jesus on the back seat while all these pagan symbols are being worshiped instead. He struggles to find out where any of these are in the Bible. Kirk firmly takes the time to explain how the Nativity is more than what any of us considered. From the manger itself to the symbolism of Jesus' birth and what was happening in the world at that time. What the significance of the swaddling clothes Jesus was wrapped in and how will they make a return appearance later in his life?

This is such an impactful movie not only in the way it tackles all the hard issues like pagan symbols or religious symbols? Where can we find why we celebrate on December 25th, and just how God has impacted this time of the year to celebrate? How we can realize that all the stuff we celebrate is really pointing to Jesus, even Santa Claus? My family and I had the honor to watch this exclusively before it aired in theaters thanks to Provident Films and Propeller LLC for my honest review, and we all honestly loved it. Now we have a more firm foundation of explaining things to those who would try and take the fun and joy out of the Christmas celebrations. It has given us new life to our Christmas celebrations again and now I am so super excited to feel free to celebrate the way we have as we grew up without having to justify anything. This is such a sweet, funny and definitely learning experience for the entire family. It is wonderful to see Kirk Cameron provide just what so many believers and non believers have been waiting for.

I received my invitation to review Saving Christmas compliments of Provident Films, CamFam, and Propeller LLC for my honest review and did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review. This is such an educational and fun family film for the entire family. The origins of so many of our Christmas favorites are explained in this incredible film. The movie will be in select theaters beginning November 14th for a limited engagement of only two weeks, so you don't want to miss this one. I easily rate this movie a 5 out of 5 stars and can't wait for it to come out on DVD so I can add this one to my must watch Christmas movie collection. I think watching it before Christmas is perfect to get you into the right Spirit for the reason for the season! And it's all about Jesus!

Unstoppable - DVD Giveaway and Review

Have you ever stopped and wondered just why does God allow bad things to happen to good people? Is He capable of preventing it? Does He care? Does He even hear your prayers? Why is  this one question the reason so many Christians give up their faith when adversity falls into their own lives and death claims yet another great person, a believer in Christ? When cancer claims another victim and despite all the prayers, healing doesn't come?

Actor Kirk Cameron takes a hard look at just why this happens and finds the answers by going back through the Bible in hopes of providing some clarification as he examines the death of 15-year-old Matthew Sandgren, a close friend of his that losses his 10-year battle with cancer. Kirk takes viewers into the beginning with the creation of Adam and Eve, the fall in the garden of Eden, the flood of Noah, and the coming of Jesus Christ.

In the end, I think Kirk stimulates us to consider all the facts of why bad things continue to happen to good people and offers us hope that when this life is over, we will have everlasting life. It helped me accept things on a much broader scale and realized just how much God cares for all of us despite the circumstances in our lives that hit home when we least expect them. As believers in Jesus Christ, we all know that our life is limited and we will face death, but it doesn't end for us there. It still affects us when we lose someone we love, because of that loss of their presence in this life, here on Earth. We miss them and want to be with them again. That loss is what grieves us the most, not that death claimed them, and now they are restored in heaven. We know we will see them again and then nothing will separate us thanks to what Jesus did through the sacrifice of His death on the cross. Does it answer the why? Not entirely but then again only God knows the reasons why He does what He does and for us, in time, it will be enough for now.

In theaters for only two weeknights (Sept 24th and Oct 3th, 2013), UNSTOPPABLE: A Live Event with Kirk Cameron sold a staggering 260,000 tickets and reached a theatrical gross of over $3.2 million dollars. In just two nights this independent project sent a loud message – audiences want thought-provoking and meaningful entertainment.

I received Unstoppable by Provident Films compliments of FlyBy Promotions for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed are strictly my own. This was an interesting DVD to watch and it's hard to define what it is, It's not really a documentary or a movie but more of a heart to heart look at sitting down with Kirk Cameron taking a hard look at why bad things happen to good people. I wanted to see this movie when it came out in theaters but missed the chance since it only had a single air date. Now I was thrilled to review this DVD and be able to share it with you. It really makes you consider things from the creation of the world to where we are at today and hopefully it offers a glimmer of hope in the midst of tragedy. I easily rate this one a 4.5 out of 5 stars.

About Kirk Cameron:
Kirk Cameron is best known for his memorable role as “Mike Seaver,” a cultural icon of the 80's, with his mullet hairstyle, cool glasses, and wisecracking comebacks. King's Faith ~ DVD Review and Giveaway

18 is the magic number for Brendan King. It's not his age but the number of foster home's he's been in and he's hoping that he will finally find a place to call home, not just a temporary stop in life. Yet for Brendan, he's had to grow up fast and see things that many hope never to encounter in life. After losing his mother to drugs and alcohol and watching her die and never knowing who his father is, he goes with whatever family he can find. For Brendan, that would mean gangs. Gang members looked out for one another and were there for you when family wasn't. At least that is what he always believed.

Now after being released from prison after a drug raid that left his best friend dead, Brendan believes he discovered his new lease on life. It began when the only book he could have in prison was a Bible given to him from a pastor. Having nothing else to do and no hope for a future, Brendan discovered that there is someone who will never leave you and one that offers the life he always dreamed even if he never discovered it from his own family. Armed with trying a new path to life, he becomes a foster child to Mike and Vee who have suffered their own loss, their son who died as a police officer when a traffic stop resulted in being shot by gang members.

Now if Brendan can only convince his foster parent's that he has changed along with the kids in his new high school who wonder just how true the rumors are about him. However just as he's hoping for a positive change, the local sheriff keeps a close eye out believing no one can reform and eventually will fall back into their old ways. When Brendan's gang members are released from prison they come back around searching for a drug stash they believe that Brendan has hidden. Will he be able to hold fast to the faith he has found or will old habits call him back?

I received King's Faith by Provident Films and FlyBy Promotions for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed are strictly my own. While this is a Christian based film, the subject matter deals with gangs and drugs and may not be suitable for all members of your family. Parental discretion is strongly advised but it does open up conversations for parents of teens to have with their children regarding the circumstances surrounding the issues Brendan faces not only from peer pressure from his old life but also in dealing with defending his faith to people who don't believe he's changed for the better. In this DVD extra's are some clips that can be used for Bible Study purposes as well as a discussion guide link for more resources. My 14-year-old daughter watched this with us and found it worth watching because is deals with the very things happening within our high school and she got to see an positive alternative by the end of the film both in the way of second chances and in how God can come through when you least expect it. Well worth every 108 minutes and for that I give this one a 5 out of 5 stars.

Now for the best part, thanks to Provident Films and Fly By Promotions, they are offering a giveaway copy to one lucky follower of my blog. Here's all you need to do to enter:

The Confession

I'm a huge fan of family friend movies and LOVE the Hallmark Channel. Now I've got the perfect review and giveaway just for you. Beverly Lewis is one of the best selling authors on Amish fiction and has been blessed enough to not only have one of her famous series made into a movie with The Shunning but now the second in the The Heritage of Lancaster County Series, The Confession is now ready to be released on DVD on June 11th.

In this latest movie, we once again follow Katie Lapp (Katie Leclerc, TV's "Switched at Birth), who we left off in The Shunning learning that she was adopted by an Amish couple and was born English. Her birth mother was searching for Katie but her Amish parents kept both of them apart. Only when learning that her birth mother was dying of cancer, did Katie's Amish mother tell her the truth. Now we find ourselves at the beginning of that journey for Katie to find her mother, Laura Mayfield-Bennett (Sherry Stringfield, TV's "ER"), a socialite now living in New York. She learns from her doctors that she has only weeks left to live before she succumbs to cancer and her only wish in life is to find Katie.

Her husband, Dylan Bennett, is struggling with addiction to alcohol and gambling and she feels if he doesn't get help there won't be anything left of her estate and the foundation she's worked so hard to build. When her husband learns he is being cut out of the will, he is desperate  to satisfy his outstanding gambling debt with some ruthless loan sharks. He learns that Katie is searching for her birth mother, Laura Bennett and soon comes up with a plan to appease his gambling debt and get back in his wife's good graces again but hiring a stand in to act as the long lost daughter. Since Laura has never met the real Katie Lapp and is at the end of her life, she is desperate to believe that Katie has come home at last.

I received The Confession compliments of Sony Pictures, Affirm Films/Provident Films, and Edify Media for my honest review on this DVD and received no monetary compensation for a favorable review. The only flaw I saw in this movie is that the actress who played Katie Lapp (Danielle Panabaker) in The Shunning is different than in The Confession so if you are watching them back to back, there is a disconnect between the character of Katie Lapp. I prefer the first actress from The Shunning but the story overall is amazing. The depths to which the husband will go to make money off of his dying wife is extraordinary and has you rooting for her to throw him out and discover the truth. It's only when someone from Katie's past shows up that things get interesting in the Bennett household. Now I can't wait for the next movie in the Hickory Hollow series and hope that Katie can truly find happiness in either her English life or her Amish one.

This movie was directed by Michael Landon Jr and has a running time of approximately 88 minutes. I had the opportunity to review The Shunning on DVD and think this make a wonderful sequel to the series. If you haven't seen The Shunning, I would suggest watching that one first to understand the back story to Katie's Amish upbringing and why the desire to find her birth mother is so strong. I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion. For more information about The Confession, Beverly Lewis or where to preorder a copy of this DVD today, please click on the links below:

Ring The Bell ~ DVD Review and Giveaway

I love it when I find a movie that really speaks to your heart deep down inside and creates such a lasting impression, you find yourself thinking about it long after it's over. That is just what you'll find in the latest movie, Ring The Bell available on DVD from Provident Films. Ring the Bell is a calling to those individuals who still don't know what they are looking for in this world, but know that no matter what they have tried so far, it doesn't last. This is a calling to come to know God, in your own time and in your own way.

Ring the Bell is about a prideful and self confident big city sports agent Rob Decker (Ryan Schaeon), who believes there is nothing he can't do or no one he can't sign. He represents the "best of the best, because he is the best of the best." He believes he is truly on top of his game as the owner of Decker Sports and all those who work for him should have the same attitude and motivation. When he locates the next "big thing" with small town high school student Shawn Hart, he is more than confident that he can get him signed. He is challenged to get Shawn Hart signed when his associate tells him he can't leave tell because of his son's game. So he heads up to Middletown to show his company's employees that he's still at the top of his game.

However God's got other plans for Rob Decker. When his car breaks down and he has to spend some time in Middletown trying to convince Sean Hart that his future awaits with a simple signed contract that will change his life. But the more time that Rob spends in Middletown, the more the town and it's residents begin to grow on him in ways he never dreamed or imagined possible, from the perky inn keeper, Maggie (LOVE her personality and quirky way of seeing positives in every little thing she does), to the loveable mechanics that will fix Rob's car once they figure out where the engine is!

The best part about this movie is the powerful message of grace and what it means to make the decision to come to know God in your life. Those that do, get the chance to Ring the Bell and let everyone else know about it. With Christian artists like Steven Curtis Chapman, Casting Crowns and Matthew West adding to the cast, it really makes the movie family friendly. Even notable baseball athletes Casey Bone, Ben Zobrist, John Kruk and Rick Sutcliff are part of the action. This is HANDS DOWN one of the best movies I've had the opportunity to watch and review with my entire family and they agree, it's a family favorite in our home now!

I received Ring The Bell compliments of Provident Films and Flyby Promotions for my honest review and received no monetary compensation for a favorable one. This is one YOU won't want to miss out on. If you love movies like Fireproof, Courageous and Facing the Giants, pick this one up. Already people are talking about this movie and how it is changing lives forever. This movie is perfect for all ages and I would encourage everyone to check this one out. 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion and that means not only do I highly recommend it, but it's one we will undoubtedly will watch over and over again. It's the perfect movie to share with those struggling to make their own decision to accept Christ and who knows may in fact Ring The Bell in their own time.

Abel's Field - DVD Giveaway and Review

Sometimes it's harder to forgive ourselves than it is to seek God's forgiveness. Seth McArdle is about to learn that very lesson in the unlikeliest of places. Seeking to raise his twin younger sisters after the death of his mother and now the abandonment of his father who fails to returns phone calls or even come home to see how his family is managing. While trying to finish up high school, avoid the quarterback of the football team who seems to bully Seth whenever possible, and hold down three jobs just to put enough food on the table. Now when a man appears searching for his father, Seth learns that his father hasn't been paying the mortgage payments on the house and it's now going to be foreclosed upon if the payments are made current.

When those around Seth offer help, he seems too proud to take it or even to ask for it. He is trying to find a way to keep his family together even though it's falling apart all around him. Even his brother, Keith, seems to have abandoned the responsibility of helping out when he can and instead finds solace in drinking. When Seth pushes things a bit too far with the football team, he finds himself the only one facing punishment. The football coach assigns him the task of working with Abel (Kevin Sorbo) the janitor/groundskeeper of the high school to get the sprinkler system up and working before the big game. Abel attempts to find a way to reach inside Seth and help him find the path back to God and to keep him from making some foolish mistakes that may cost him everything in the end.

In the DVD, Abel's Field by Affirm Films, makers of such wonderful family films like Fireproof and Courageous, now bring you another great family film that deals with forgiveness and understanding the circumstances that life can bring about when our choices seems to much to deal with. This is the perfect family movie to watch to show you how easy is can be to ask God for forgiveness and how hard it is for each of us to find forgiveness in ourselves. This one rates a 4 out of 5 stars in my opinion and I received Abel's Field, compliments of Propeller, FlyByPromotions and Affirm Films for my honest review. Once again if you're looking for a wonderful film to watch with your entire family without worrying about the subject matter, than this one is perfect to add to your DVD collection.

The Grace Card - DVD Giveaway and Review

Everything can change in an instant … and take a lifetime to unravel. When Mac McDonald loses his son in an accident, the ensuing 17 years of bitterness and pain erodes his love for his family and leaves him angry with God … and just about everyone else. Mac’s rage stonewalls his career in the police department and makes for a combustible situation when he’s partnered with Sam Wright, a rising star on the force—who happens to be a part-time pastor and a loving family man.

Can they somehow join forces to help one another when it’s impossible for either of them to look past their differences—especially the most obvious one? Every day, we have the opportunity to rebuild relationships and heal deep wounds by extending and receiving God’s grace. Offer THE GRACE CARD … and never underestimate the power of God’s love.

My Review:

This movie will completely move you to tears. An emotional roller coaster from the first scene where Mac McDonald (Michael Joiner) and his family are put through the hardest of life's tragedies as his young son is killed by a drug deal gone bad. While the police are pursuing the dealer, Tyler rides directly into the path of the dealer's car.

Now the family, 17 years later is still struggling in the various stages of grief. For Mac, it's getting over the hate he still feels for the boy who took the life of his son. Even though he doesn't say he's a racist, his actions confirm that he is being held captive. Now partnered with Sam Wright (Mike Higgenbottom), who's an up and coming pastor and who just received the promotion that Mac had hoped he would get, he is faced with his greatest enemy.

Sam Wright is trying to get his church started so he can quit to police force, however he too struggles with his messages when he can't even find a way to reach a hurt and wounded man he is partnered with everyday who hates him simply based on his skin color.

Blake is the remaining son who is on the verge of not graduating in his senior year due to his grades. He is still dealing with trying to live up to Tyler even though the accident happened 17 years ago. He turns to the wrong crowd since being at home with his mom and dad only leads to more arguments. His dad, Mac, believes he will never measure up to his expectations.

Louis Gossett Jr. plays a small role as the grandfather of Sam who teaches him about what the definition of grace means through a story of a slave owner on a plantation. This movie is well produced and the storyline will impact you no matter where you stand in life.

I received the DVD, The Grace Card, compliments of Propeller and Provident Films for my honest review and once again LOVE that movies like this are being made for families again. The message is relevant to anyone who questions what the meaning of grace is and how forgiveness works in any situation we face in life. A word of caution: you WILL need tissues for this one. I highly recommend this movie to any family looking for a great story with a message behind it. This is a 5 out of 5 stars DVD.

Bringing Up Bobby DVD Giveaway and Review

You've seen your typical dysfunctional families, but never before have you seen a more humorous one than Bobby's family. They are all reunited in the most unusual way as they gather to celebrate Bobby's 16th birthday and the reading of his parents will.

In the latest movie on DVD from Provident Films, Bringing Up Bobby, takes you on a journey of Bobby, an almost 16 year old goth kid in high school who suddenly finds himself crushing on a girl name Liz. He will try anything to make her notice him, including changing into a preppy, dashing young man in hopes that Liz will notice him. Yet what Bobby seems to be missing is discovering who he is all along.

James, his oldest brother has spent the last 12 years raising Bobby since the death of their parents and has been waiting on a death certificate so they can finally read his parents will. James is a Christian who tries to convince Bobby that he needs to find a relationship with Jesus instead of just accepting Jesus as a religion. James deals with communication via a "war table" dressed in costume because he cites from Deuteronomy that it's hard to stay mad at a man in costume.

Andrea, is the only sister of the family and spends her life in search of fame, wealth and in bossing her husband Walter around and being at her beck and call. She only shows up for the reading of the will, but claims she is there strictly for Bobby's 16th birthday.

Dennis is another brother that has fled to Russia to escape the anarchists that he feels are pursuing him in search of money that is owed. He is stuck in the 60's and after being deported from Russia finds himself back at the family home. He is hoping that there may be some money to pay off his debts. He doesn't have a relationship with God either.

Trust me when I say, that this movie is a classic and while we were watching it, my teenager and her friends all stopped, sat down, laughed throughout the movie all the way to the end. No prompting required. There are some great classic lines in the movie and I think my all time favorite is when Goth Bobby declares to himself that "he doesn't need anyone, no one and then yells out loud for James to give him a ride."

We laughed so much and this movie falls in line with such comedy greats like Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell and Steve Carrell. So if you love their movies, you've got to see this one. The message is one for families and this is a Christian family classic, if I can get it back from my teens! I would rate this one a perfect 5 out of 5 stars and the trailer doesn't do it justice.

Upside DVD - Giveaway and Review

High school senior Solomon White (Randall Bentley, "Heroes") has everything that any boy his age could want, a great athlete, great looking girlfriend, nice car, a three potential scholarships to go to some of the tops schools like the Navy, Brown, and Harvard.

So when his anger gets the best of him during a lacrosse game in which a recruiter from the top colleges are watching, Solomon has one of the worst accidents he could imagine. He is knocked unconscious on the field. When he awakens in the hospital, he finds that instead of just vertigo and the occasional double vision, he is know seeing his world, upside-down literally.

When his doctors tell him its a highly unique situation, Solomon is forced to see more than his life in a different way. All his possibilities that were in his reach are now up for grabs. His vision changes when he meets Wren, whose faith in God teaches him that what he sees isn't necessarily what God has in store for him. Wren is blind and it's through her help, he begins to see this challenge isn't an end for him and his dreams but merely a way of seeing things through different eyes.

I received this wonderful new family DVD compliments of Propeller and Provident Films for my honest review. I can't express enough how this will change how you view your world and the storms and trials we all face. It's only with God's help that things can change in ways we never imagined. I would rate this DVD a perfect 5 out of 5 stars for pure inspiration and way for a family to enjoy an evening together.
