Downfall
Emily Covington, despite her past life of severe drug addiction, has turned her life around, committing her self to a yearlong treatment program and has been completely sober for a little over five years now. Despite her efforts though, her family still has trouble trusting her, always afraid that she may relapse; Emily has a lot to prove.
One morning as Emily rushes out to her car to make it on time for her college exam, she sets fire to her car by turning the ignition and discovers a homemade bomb duct taped to the underside of her car. Police cannot find to much evidence left behind by the assassin at the crime scene, and begin searching for possible suspects, having to dig through Emily's years as a drug addict to get to them. Who wants Emily dead and why? To make matters worse, the wife of one her friends was also murdered that same morning.
Emily, wanting to find the connection between her and the on going murders around her, frantically begins exhausting her resources to try and identify the killer and save the next potential victim. But with her past, no family support, and not knowing anyone in her new town, Emily finds this exceedingly difficult and is afraid that she may not be able to catch the killer in time.

Downfall by Terri Blackstock (An Intervention Novel) kept me hooked until the very end as do all of her amazing novels. Blackstock did a terrific job concealing who the murder was until the very last pages! I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys murder mysteries, and action/thriller novels!
I received this book compliments of Shelton Interactive and Zondervan Publishers for my honest review and would rate this novel a 5 out of 5 stars. For more information about this book, the author and where you can purchase a copy of this, please click on the links below:

Shadow in Serenity
"A pigeon dropper? What's a pigeon dropper?"
"A huckster. A shyster. A con man. Y'all are making a terrible mistake."
Yet no matter how many times she tried to warn them, not only her own in laws and citizens of Serenity, no one wanted to listen.
Situated in Texas, Serenity was a quaint and peaceful town that some would compare to Mayberry from the old Andy Griffith show. One that was also beginning to feel the effects of the latest downturn in the economy. These are where hard-working, God-fearing people still lived and worked trying to find a better way. Where everyone knew one another and were willing to look out for others. Until Logan Brisco showed up.
Smooth-talking, wealthy, and charismatic, Logan has researched the small town of Serenity. He's been looking for a town that was down on its luck, a town that needed a dream or two, but also a town that still had resources. Green resources! The kind that would keep him in the lifestyle he had grown accustomed to, and only one person stood in his way, Carny Sullivan.
Carny Sullivan was a con-artist til the age of 17, who was raised by two small time frauds in a traveling carnival. Named after her family's lifestyle and trained to follow in her parents footsteps, she lived for the day she could finally walk away from this and live the life she could only imagine. Until the day Abe Sullivan walked in, married her, and convinced her, that he was the man of her dreams. Abe would also be the man who would later drink himself dead, leaving Carny behind with her baby Jason in Serenity, and Carny would learn that dreams don't come true after all. This is why she has to convince the residents of Serenity, that Logan is a con man.

In the latest novel by Terri Blackstock, Shadow in Serenity, we see what happens when Carny's past allows her to see what others can't. What others only want to see, is the possibility of their financial dreams becoming a reality; where they won't have to work as hard and prosperity once again return to the residents of Serenity. Some are willing to give all that they have just to make that happen.
I received this book compliments of Zondervan Publishers and Shelton Interactive for my honest review. I am already a huge fan of Terri's, so asking me to review her latest book was a true gift. Able to whisk the reader away from their present day circumstances and place them within the town of Serenity as a resident, is what makes Terri's writing so captivating and desired. There is an underlying message contained within the story, but unfortunately, you'll have to pick this one up, get lost in the story and like me, be left breathless as you finish the final page. Make sure you set some time aside when you start, because if you're like me, once you begin, you won't want to set this one down til you finish. Another 5 out of 5 stars for this novel and can't wait for you all to pick this one up at your local book retailers.

Vicious Cycle
She was selfish, like all active drug users. She only cared about herself and getting the next high. Whatever she had to do, whoever she had to sell out, however she had to lie, she would. He'd learned all about it - their need to lie and steal to get drugs to numb the pain.
But the lying and stealing lead to more problems and more pain, so they needed more drugs to feel better. And that meant more lies and stealing. More problems. More cravings for drugs. It was a vicious cycle that took miracles to break (pg 91)
Emily Covington knows all about that cycle. She's spent the last year trying to break free from the cravings that have held her prisoner. She knows she has to lose contact with all her old friends once she is released from New Day, a rehabilitation center for girls who need to break free from their addictions. Her mom, Barbara has been hanging on as long as she can after losing her husband and is just beginning to break free from her own vicious cycle and learning to trust love again.
However when her brother Lance finds himself with a baby that was born to another drug addicted mother he was trying to help, he finds himself involved in a cycle that may prove one that no of them can break free from.
I received the book, Vicious Cycle by Terri Blackstock, compliments of Christian Fiction Blog Alliance for my honest review and could NOT put it down until I finished that final page at 1:40am.
