The Decision

We have all made decisions in our lifetime that we often times wonder if it was the right one. Many times we wish we had the opportunity to go back and change some of those decisions as we have seen how they have played out in our life or in the lives of others. Jonah Miller was one such person. After being left at the altar by the love of his life, he has opted to start over again someplace else where the memories aren't quite so fresh when they are revisited from Pennsylvania to Illnois.

It is there where he learned to find love again with Elaine Schrock. In fact he wasn't even looking for love again and then again neither was she. They are literally on the verge of watching all their dreams for a future come true, when tragedy strikes and Elaine's grandfather dies. These are the only parents she has known since they have cared for her since she was little when her own parents died. In his dying words, Elaine's grandfather begged her to please take care of her grandmother, Edna. It was a promise that Elaine would ensure she would keep. After all how to you pay back your grandparents for raising you? It was the very least she could do.

When Edna begins to have dizzy spells and is a bit more than forgetful, Elaine and the community just believe that Edna is still in the grieving process and simply trying to move forward before she is physically ready. But when those situations become dangerous like wandering off and forgetting where she is, or leaving the oven on while making cookies, Elaine believes there might be something more going on. The doctor determines that besides being diabetic, Edna is also experiencing dementia. How will Elaine be able to move forward with Jonah, when she now has to face caring for her grandmother? Will Elaine's decision to forget her own future be the very best one God has in mind for her? Right now, she can't see how it can be.

I received The Decision by Wanda E. Brunsetter compliments of Nancy Berland Public Relations and Barbour Publishers for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions contained here are strictly my own. This is the first novel in the Prairie State Friends Series and it is one I truly love. Relying on her own experiences in dealing with caring for a loved one with dementia, Wanda captivated the beautiful way the Amish care for their loved ones. They would never consider putting them in a facility to care for the aging, but instead the entire community rallies around to help in any way they can. Dementia has to be one of the most difficult illnesses to deal with because it robs our loved ones of their memories, the most priceless treasures we have. It is hard for both to deal with the effects and that comes across so well in this novel. There is a discussion guide at the end along with some great recipes. I can't wait for the next one in this series and for that reason it deserves a full 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion.

iCooker Camera Lens Thermos Coffee Mug - Product Review

If you have anyone who is a photographer or loves photography, I've got a great product and gift idea to tell you about! It is the iCooker Coffee Mug!

Just looking at the iCooker Camera Lens Thermos Coffee Mug leads you to believe it is simply another camera lens for your 35mm camera! But it's a great 12 oz stainless steel thermal coffee mug instead! Being a novice photographer, this was definitely something I could relate to!

It looks authentic and fits perfectly in your cars cup holder depending on your car, so it makes the perfect gift for any photographer or fan of photography. It is the identical shape of a Canon 24 to 105mm lens. It is BPA safe and keeps your favorite beverage hot or cold for hours. It comes with a lid that offers a slide opening to allow you to drink your beverage and helps keep spills under control. It does have a rubber seal on the lid to ensure a perfect fit on the lid. For those of you that have Keurig coffee makers this size is perfect to fit under your coffee maker so you can enjoy your favorite beverage in stylish fun coffee cup. It is dishwasher safe as well!

I received the iCooker Camera Lens Thermos Coffee Mug compliments from iCooker and VIP Power Club for my honest review of their product. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed here are strictly my own. What I love about this product besides the stainless steel inside is the size. Just perfect for that single serving of coffee. For me, I've had mugs that are the equivalent of almost 2 1/2 cups and knowing I need to watch my intake of coffee, this makes it easy to track how much I am drinking. I even bought one of these for my daughter who loves something a bit unique for her coffee drinking and it keeps it from looking like all the other cups at work. It definitely is an eye catcher for those looking for that perfect gift for a photography fan! I easily give this product a 5 out of 5 stars and love the great price on it at this time. It's a weighted cup so its definitely not a cheap product. It feels like a true camera lens!!!

Imperfectly Perfect Love

Some would say that Maggie Grace Veck has the "perfect" life. She is married to a handsome upcoming attorney who hopes to make partner, who supports her decision to leave the working world once they begin to start to family. They live in an elite subdivision known as Bridgeport Cove, in the heart of Bluffport, Florida. She has always known that she carries a threat for ovarian cancer in her side of the family but suspects the reason she is feeling worn out might be a indicator that it has found a new home in Maggie. Fortunately for her, she has the all clear for now, but her family planning has started a bit early. After the initial shock has worn off her husband, Travis, they are eager to trust God with whatever plans He has in store. In the next few years, that will mean an additional two children in their home.

Now that Travis has made partner and with two busy kids to raise, Maggie has taken Travis up on the notion of being a stay at home mother. He ensures her that once things settle down a bit, he'll be able to stay home more. But soon late nights and working weekends, make Maggie feel that she has lost the husband she once knew and has become a bit of a single mother at times. When she struggles to come to terms with it, she knows her best place for advice is with her long time childhood friend, Peter McKnight, who is both friends with Travis and Maggie and even uncle to their children. She wishes for a return to a more simple life and has urges to return to the home her grandmother had left her. Something seems to be beckoning her back to Sunnyville, Alabama and she soon realizes that Peter has made Sunnyville his new hometown as well. As she sits as the crossroads of her life, which path will Maggie choose?

I received Imperfectly Perfect Love from debut author Shauna Williams for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions are strictly my own. I don't doubt that anyone who has been married for quite some time, would wonder what their life might have been life if they had chosen a different path. I could relate to Maggie's character quite a bit when I found my own husband called away on business trips and wondered if that was God's plan for my married life. It truly calls into play your faith in God and your commitment to marriage when absence creates a divide in your relationship. There are often insurmountable odds working against you at every turn, and I love how that struggle comes across for Maggie. This is what I believe really works for this novel and shows us that relationships aren't perfect but they are worth working hard for. The author employs the techniques of fast forwarding through chapters of the children's subsequent births to move the story into the meat of what you'd want to find instead of sorting through all the fluff that doesn't need to be there. I can't wait to see what's next from Shauna Williams in the sequel to her Surrendered Hearts series and for that reason give this one a 4 out of 5 stars. This is the first novel in the Surrendered Hearts series.

Grace of God ~ DVD Review and Giveaway

A man's faith will be called into question when $30,000 of the churches money goes missing. The pastor of the church along with the accountant and secretary know that if they involve the police it could cause quite the scandal among the community. They agree that hiring a private investigator to solve the crime might be a better issue. They just aren't prepared to be questioned by Detective Bill Broadly not only in regards to the missing money, but their belief in God as well.

Bill sees the labels Christians wear as hypocritical and vows to whomever he engages in a conversation that it's only a matter of time, before they are exposed for being liars and their faith is simply a cover. No matter how friendly people treat him, he vows to expose all the people he interviews as not only possible suspects but also to expose their less than favorable pasts. He truly believes that the churches caretaker, (Lorenzo Lamas) who not only has had a past riddled with theft, but also supports his family who is struggling with their sins. He believes that forgiveness is best played where people can see your actions not just hear your words.

As the investigation continues feelings between Bill and Constance, the church secretary emerge. They both talk about how life has handed them both some unlucky cards in life with both of them dealing with the affects of divorce. Constance holds on to her faith in God while Bill still believes its simply an excuse and doesn't see the true side of her faith. Despite all their best intentions to keep the rumors of the theft a secret, someone exposes the true to the local paper and soon the church is placed on the stand to defend not only the decision to not involve the police but to protect the integrity of the church members as well.

I received Grace of God: A Story of Easter Traditions compliments of Phase 4 Films and Flyby Promotions for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation and the opinions contained here are strictly my own. This is a moving movie that showcases what the real meaning is behind our faith in God and following His commandments. The movie stars such notables as John Razenberger and Erin Bethea in this 99 minute long DVD that is Dove Faith Friendly Approved for ages 12 and up. The main message of the movie is that through faith and belief, there is really rebirth and redemption. I was a bit disappointed by the way the movie ended and felt something must be sitting on the cutting room floor. It left you feeling like something was missing, but perhaps it's simply up to each viewer to decide for themselves how this movie will impact changes in their own lives. I give this one a 4 out of 5 stars in my opinion.

The Tomb: A Novel of Martha

I can honestly say without a doubt that Stephanie Landsem is one of the finest biblical fictional authors I've read to date. Her ability to take the well known Bible stories that are masked in so much unknown and breath such life into them, you'd swear that they were a part of the Bible. The elements that she utilizes to create the back story for such well loved characters in her previous novels in the Living Waters Series, such as "the thief on the cross," the Samaritan woman at the well," and now the beloved character so many women can relate to, Martha, the sister of Lazarus and Mary.

In her latest novel, The Tomb, is the third novel in the Living Water series. Trust me when I say, if you love those well known stories from the Bible, you will want to pick up this entire series. Before the story opens, the readers are in for an explanation by Stephanie Landsem about how these stories evolve and one I had never really considered, until I got the "A-ha" moment hit over my own head. In The Tomb: A Novel of Martha, is not her attempt to recount the historical events that took place in Bethany two thousand years ago. Instead, it is a re-imagining of how Martha, a woman who was "anxious and worried about many things," might have been transformed into the faith-filled woman of John 11:22, who said to Jesus - as her brother lay in his tomb - "Even know I know that whatever you ask of God, God will give you."

Another author Jill Eileen Smith, in her praise for the Tomb, captured the essence of this entire Living Water series when she adds, "Often when we read the biblical story, we don't stop to think about who these people were, what they thought, how they lived - especially when we are unfamiliar with the culture of the day. The Tomb gives us a rich glimpse into that culture and into the lives of these characters: their hopes, their joys, their fears. You will never see Martha quite the same way again."

That is precisely what the reader will glean from this inside look into what really made Martha, the beloved character from the Bible, the proverbial worrier, the woman who never stopped and was always busy working hard to make sure everything was perfect, couldn't see where all her efforts were truly going. I had never really considered what her story might be. The Bible doesn't speak of their parents and with Martha being the oldest, one might assume that all the household responsibilities of raising her younger brother and sister would fall naturally to her. Thoughts of her own future would pale with making sure everything else would be addressed before her own needs were considered.

This translates so beautifully in this novel and it truly saddens me every single time, that the novels are over too soon. I feel like I have truly been given a look into the lives of characters of the Bible I had never considered before until I have finished another one of Stephanie's novels. Her introductions to other secondary characters is woven so seamlessly you often find yourself asking if you missed connecting those pieces together when you read the Bible so many times before. From the demon possessed man, to the plots against Jesus by the Sanhedrin, the story is breath-taking, magical, and one I know I will read again and again. These novels are so rich in detail, you can't put them down. You simply won't want to. So be sure to set aside time to take a virtual vacation back to the time of Christ and see for yourself one of the most unforgettable miracles from the Bible as you read, The Tomb.

I received The Tomb: A Novel of Martha by Stephanie Landsem compliments of Howard Books and Christian Fiction Blog Alliance for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions contained here are strictly my own unless otherwise notated. Such a beautiful novel that captures the demon possessed man, Simon the leper, Martha, Mary and Lazarus, as well as the saving grace that can only come from time spent with Jesus Christ as you witness first hand these events as though you are part of the action and not just reading a novel. This is one of those novels when you read it, you want to tell every single person about it, so they can enjoy it as much as you have. My only hope, is that like most series, it doesn't end at the third one and Stephanie has plans for another one, fingers crossed!!! Hands down, a well deserved standing ovation and worth every one of the five out of five stars.

Easter Stories: Classic Tales for the Holy Season - Giveaway and Review

Sometimes the best books are ones that contained a bunch of short stories geared for specific holidays. When I was asked to review Easter Stories: Classic Tales for the Holy Season, by various authors I knew this would be something that would help get me in the mood for Easter. I had read a similar book from Plough Publishing House during Christmas and hoped this would be along the same lines.

While there are some notable authors like C.S. Lewis, Leo Tolstoy, Oscar Wilde, Elizabeth Goudge, and many others, that were selected for their spiritual value and literary quality. While most of them do meet those standards there were a couple that I would not be able to read to a young child based on the language used to describe why a donkey has long ears. It would be one I would have to pass on sharing with my children or simply remove that part of the story that tells why a Robin has a red breast.

For the majority of the book there are some great stories that I had never read before that capture the true essence of what Easter is supposed to be about without all the world's hype on Easter bunnies, marshmallow peeps, basket hunting and egg dying. These stories capture the meaning of the sacrifice that Jesus made when he came here as Savior to the world and how it changed how we treat one another. All the stories in this book are not 100% religious in their content but do tell fables that encourage us to change how we perceive and treat people today with kindness and hospitality. This book could be used for any purpose besides Easter and for those that are looking for a great book that captures some of those older stories from notable authors, you might just want to pick this one up.

I received Easter Stories: Classic Tales for the Holy Season compliments of Plough Publishing House and FlyBy Promotions for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions contained here are strictly my own. One of my favorite stories was from Leo Tolstoy, Two Old Men. It is about two older men who decide it might be the perfect time to take a trip to Jerusalem before they get too old to go. Along the way they become separated but what each learns truly is life changing for them both. There are 27 incredible stories to chose from in this book. For me this one rated a 4 out of 5 stars due to the fact that not all the stories I read would NOT be suitable for all ages in my opinion.

Rise of the Fallen

Angels were created long before humans were and as such, they have been there to witness the creation of the world. They hold some valuable positions in the Heavenly Realm, some act as messengers like the Archangel, Gabriel, others are warriors like the Archangel, Michael and still others have found another purpose like Lucifer, once the most beautiful of all of God's created angels before he believed he was higher in authority than God and succeeded in persuading a third of the heavenly angels to follow him to the earth.

In the amazing new young adult series from Chuck Black, Wars of the Realms, Rise of the Fallen is the second book to make its way into the series. While I was anticipating a continuation of sorts from the first novel, Cloak of the Light, this was a very different sequel. In this one, Chuck takes readers back in time to the creation of the world and showcases how the rebellion of the fallen took place and how it will subsequently impact the lives of the characters we find in this series. From the initial rebellion, to the many events in history that showcase how evil has tried to take precedence over the humans God so lovingly created from that moment in the Garden of Eden with Eve, to the corruption that impacted the God's decision to cleanse the Earth with the flood.

While this is merely written from a fictional perception, Chuck references biblical facts through the use of bold text and a great reference at the conclusion of the book that highlights the biblical implications used to complete the storyline. In this novel, we see how an angel Validus who was the last created angel feels less than worthy considering his angelic role at first, not a warrior, not a messenger, he finds himself in without a place among God's elite until the fall of Lucifer. He is then assigned a role before the birth of Jesus Christ, as a warrior angel to help control the evil that is taking both human lives and angelic lives in the spiritual and physical realms. He soon finds allies with a group of angels known at the One Hundred who befriend him and make him feel like a part of God's plan. It won't be until the rebellion in Heaven when Validus will have to make up his own choice to be part of God's plan or find his calling in Lucifer's domain on earth.

The novel is written as a chronological look back into the history of earth and how evil might have played a role in being instruments of the fallen to use humans to gain an upper hand in taking over the earth. It moves slowly forward to the present where we find Validus has been assigned a new role that of an assistant guardian to watch over Drew Carter, the main character in the first novel. It is through the marriage of these two novels that the reader can see what is happening though the eyes of the angels in the spiritual world while at the same time, connecting these events to the first novel in a quick look back before the end of the book. Now the two stories are complete and can move forward to the final epic battle between good and evil in both world in the next novel in the series.

I received Rise of the Fallen by Chuck Black compliments of WaterBrook Multnomah Publishers for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed here are strictly my own. I absolutely love how Chuck decided to write this novel because there is so much information you want to pass along before you move your story forward for readers to truly understand the impact that demons and angels have in our lives as both believers and non believers in Jesus Christ. It is truly eye opening and made me really consider just how much goes on in our daily lives where we are simply unaware and just how powerful prayer really is. Now I can't wait for the next novel in this exciting new supernatural spiritual warfare series and one I can easily give a 5 out of 5 stars too!

Dauntless

What would you do if the one woman you vowed to love, marry and spend the rest of your life with, apparently was murdered? What would you do, years later when you see that she is very much alive and may in fact be a wanted woman? What lengths would you go to to rectify the feelings you still have for her?

These are the very questions running through Timothy Grey's mind as he is placed in charge of Wyndeshire, by the local earl as he is called away by King John. Being the ninth child, Timothy has had to struggle to get to where he is right now, the chance to win a title and impress the Earl of Wyndeshire. In order to accomplish that, he has been tasked to hunt down a group of thieves known only as the Ghosts of Farthingale Forest. He knows the lands and forests better than any, but the last thing he expected to discover was Lady Merry Ellison among them.

Timothy isn't sure that she is part of the group and believes she must being held against her will. So Timothy vows to stage a rescue mission and hopefully win back the heart of the woman who has captivated his heart and soul. Merry knows that Timothy will do the right thing when it comes to arresting those responsible for stealing, but her group of misfits and children who have no parents have only taken just what they need in order to survive, and have never taken a life in all their raids. She knows that if their group is discovered, it will mean most of her group of children and young men will face the gallows including herself. If only there was a way to convince Timothy that her intentions are honorable despite the attempts by King John to have her murdered along with her family and the other children as well.

I received Dauntless by Dina L. Sleiman compliments of Bethany House Publishers and Christian Fiction Blog Alliance for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions contained here are strictly my own. This is a revised version along the lines of Robin Hood, where in this case, our expert with a bow and arrow is Merry Ellison. Perfect debut for fans of heroines like Katniss Everdeen. She coexists along the same time period as Robyn the Hood and even makes reference to their group being easily mistake as Robyn's band of merry men. This is the first novel in the Valiant Hearts series, and is definitely quite a bit different from most novels I've read where the woman is the lead character and heroine taking up the role of carrying for those under her, in this case, children who have no parents or homes. I guess much like the Lost Boys were in Peter Pan. Here however, the children range in age from very young to their teens. The law states that any as old as 7 can be hanged if they are discovered to have committed a crime against the king and that would mean most of Merry's group. Truly an unforgettable adventure into the life of a noble outlaw in the land of Medieval England. I would give this one a 4 out of 5 stars in my opinion.

Miracle at the Higher Grounds Cafe

It would come as no surprise to people who know me to know that I've always wanted to open a coffee shop/book store. Just for the main reason that I absolutely think the two go perfectly together. I absolutely LOVED having the opportunity to review Max Lucado's latest novel, Miracle at the Higher Grounds Cafe, a Heavenly Novel. It's a bit like a more contemporary It's A Wonderful Life story tucked between the pages, and it's one without a doubt you will fall absolutely in love with.

Chelsea Chambers is on the brink of making quite a few decisions that will impact not only her future, but the future of her two children as well. Finding out her NFL super star husband Sawyer was unfaithful pretty much impacts her on a personal level. Her kids only want to be reunited again, despite the fact their dad made a mistake and wants a second chance. But Chelsea isn't about to fall for his lines like she did when she married him the first time, despite what her kids want.

Her financial world is rocked when she learns that the coffee shop, Higher Grounds, she inherited from her grandmother, owes back taxes she can't even afford. Even with payments, the amount of business the coffee shop brings in is a far cry from what she will need. The last thing she truly wants to do is sell it. Trying to get money from her soon-to-be-ex-husband Sawyer is not possible since his get rich quick schemes and the affluent life style the NFL provided him has left him with nothing and he cleaned out what remaining savings they both had. Chelsea has nothing to fall back on but a prayer that God will help.

That's when Manny shows up to help, an angel who has been sent on an answer to prayer to help fix the problems in Chelsea's life. Yet the only way to truly shake things up is to bring the coffee shop into the 20th century and that includes internet. But the only website, customers are able to log into while at the cafe is provided by an unnamed company who offers a router and service to try for three months without any obligation. It seems that God has gotten his own blog in which He alone will answer any one question that you might have. Is it real or simply a gimmick to help get Higher Grounds out of debt? You definitely want to pick this one up and see how it all turns out.

I received Miracle at the Higher Grounds Cafe by Max Lucado compliments of Litfuse Publicity and Thomas Nelson Publishers for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions contained here are strictly my own. This is one of my favorite novels from Max Lucado and hope he plans on extending this into a series. I love the many inspirational ideas that stem from what happens when the entire community is involved including the local pastor. People will soon realize that God is a lot more concerned about the little things going on in their lives than the answer to a bigger prayer they might have in mind. This would make a wonderful Hallmark Channel movie and hope that this is not the last of these novels from Max Lucado. I'd rate this one an unbelievable 5 out of 5 stars and a Reader's Discussion Questions are included at the conclusion of this novel.

A Heart's Disguise

In the re-release of Colleen Coble's Journey of the Heart Series, she opens the first book, A Heart's Disguise with a letter to the reader. It conveys that this was the first series of novels she ever wrote and they remain special to her because writing was how she dealt with her brother Randy's death. She tells readers that they will see a piece of her dear brother in Rand's character throughout the series. The books have not been available for print in nearly ten years, so it is a true pleasure that these are making their way into the hands of readers to fall in love with all over again.

Colleen Coble is definitely no stranger now to book readers who have fallen in love with her uncanny ability to draw the reader into her novels as though they are part of the story. For fans of western romance genre's, you will definitely want to pick this entire series up. Just under a hundred pages, A Heart's Disguise sets the precedent for the remaining novels that follow.

In Wabash, Indiana at the conclusion of the Civil War, we find Sara Montgomery dealing with the recent news that the man she was waiting to return home from the war, has been killed. Knowing her heart can never be whole again, she faces the challenges of dealing with her dying father whose only wish is to see her married and well cared for before he dies, instead of living with her older brother Wade. Despite how she feels, she wonders if settling for Ben Croftner as her future husband will offer her at least the security of not wanting for anything and he at least says he loves her. Knowing there isn't much change of Rand rising from the grave, she consents to his proposal of marriage.

On the eve of the day before she is supposed to get married, she is about to learn that sometimes love offers second chances she didn't see coming and sometimes some people don't truly have your best intentions in mind and you are just a pawn in helping them accomplish what they want in life.

I received A Heart's Disguise by Colleen Coble compliments of Thomas Nelson Publishers and Litfuse Publicity for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions contained in this review are strictly my own. This novel has definitely given me a craving for more from Colleen and I can't wait to pick up the remaining books in this series. I am a huge lover of western romances, reading Louis L'Amour books back in high school. This one is fit right into that wheelhouse for me and I love how much Sara is willing to sacrifice her own personal happiness for her father and family even though she knows she will never be truly happy without Rand. It is believable because with choices being so limited for women back then, they really didn't have much of a say so in what their futures would be aside from a wife and mother. This one for me rates a 5 out of 5 stars and offers a sneak peek into A Heart's Obsession at the conclusion of this book.

How To Catch A Prince

"I pledge to you my love and fidelity, my honor and trust, to cherish you until death part us.

The heiress and the prince. They were meant to be. In love. Forever. They were going to make it, defeat the odds of wealth and power pulling a modern couple apart." (pg. 51).

I don't know of one woman who hasn't dreamed of some day even if it's only in her dreams of capturing the attention of a handsome prince. I guess we get that notion from all those fairy tales our parents read to us as a child, but best selling author Rachel Hauck has managed to captivate on that notion in a way that garners those fantasy dreams once again as an adult in her Royal Wedding Series of novels.

I mean who hasn't watched Princess Diana marry Prince Charles or even lately the marriage of Kate and William and hasn't in the back of her mind longed for that same dream. In her latest novel How to Catch a Prince, the third novel in the series, American heiress Corina Del Rey had managed to do just that, win the heart of Prince Stephen of Brighton. While they knew the implications of such a secret love and how it might impact their futures, love still prevailed and their wedding took place in secret just before Stephen was slated for deployment to Afghanistan.

When he returned however the secrets persisted and he told Corina that their wedding was a mistake. One that could very well cost him the future throne. It seemed there was more there than what he was willing to tell Corina so they parted and went their separate ways for the next five and a half years. When Stephen is confronted with a marriage certificate he believed was destroyed, he is told he is still legally married by his brother Nathaniel. He has to find Corina and manage to convince he to sign annulment papers to legally end the marriage they both believed was over. But Corina isn't about to give up that easily especially when she knows that Stephen can provide the answers to her brother Carlos' death when he served with Stephen during his deployment, something the government wants to keep covered up. Is all fair in love and war? You're about to find out!

I received How to Catch a Prince by Rachel Hauck compliments of Zondervan Publishers and Litfuse Publicity for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions contained here are strictly my own. This is the fairy tale series for women who love the idea that a happily ever after does in fact exist in real life. I have read this entire series from beginning to end and my hope is that it doesn't end with this novel. These have been too good to be true and one that I will be reading again and again. They are a permanent addition to my book collection and personal library. A Reader's Discussion Guide is included at the conclusion of this novel that is perfect for book clubs that would love to host this novel. In my opinion, this one is another home run and well deserving of all 5 out of 5 stars.

If You Find This Letter

"Dear you,

You and I have never met so we should probably just start here. Before any other words get placed on this page, you should know that our time together is limited. We probably won't ever meet beyond this one encounter. You won't know me apart from the creases in this paper and swooping of my cursive. We won't ever sit down over coffee or laugh like we're plucking old jokes from our memory. We may never have this kind of thing and I want to learn to be okay with that...

I'm struggling. Struggling in a way that I don't know how to admit to anyone around me. I moved to New York City just two months ago and still haven't found myself at home among the clamor. I feel like I should have sunk more easily into this role as a New Yorker, as Somebody who doesn't speak and doesn't smile and sits in coffee shops alone and is just fine with the solitude. But I'm not. It's driving me crazy. I'm falling apart. I see a girl and a guy meet up in the center of Grand Central, after they've both said good-bye to the longer part of their day, and something inside me starts to ache. Because I want that familiar face. I want someone, anyone, to tell me I am not alone in all of this.

I don't know your story and I guess that doesn't really matter now; at least it doesn't stop me from wanting the very best for you. You deserve that, don't you know it?

It's a little funny. That's the thing we never say to one another - that we all deserve goodness. That we deserve the best stories. That our lives are something to be in awe of and we are just so lucky to be alive and breathing today. It is the first thing I forget. It will probably be the first truth I discard when I fold up this love letter and walk away. I will continue bustling around like crazy, thinking I might find another moment to tell someone how much they truly matter to me. And then I will forget to look up. And the day will suddenly be over.

I don't want you to slip through my fingers like that so do me a favor and know the truth; You're worth it. You are absolutely, unbelievably worth it and you were made for mighty things. Keep pushing on. Keep pressing. Don't let anyone in this wide, wide world every try to snuff out the light you bring. Yo have to know that it matters. The world is going to try to convince you otherwise but don't listen. Please. Don't. Listen. You are a marvel. It matters that you are here. If ever you forget these things, come find me.

Sending light and love,

A girl just trying to find her way." (86-87).

In the book, If You Find This Letter by Hannah Brencher, you will uncover something pretty amazing about her and what she did with her life when she moved to New York City in search of meaning to her life. She found that by leaving random letters to people in a variety of places, she was touching a place that most people had in common with her, a need to feel worthy, a need to belong. This is a personal memoir of how writing love letters to people created its own powerful force in the world when The World Needs More Love Letters was launched to address the need for people to be encouraged and acknowledged in this world. From letters she received from her own mother and grandmother to the letters she would write to people in need, this is a truly unforgettable journey into how the actions of just one person can truly change lives forever.

I received If You Find This Letter by Hannah Brencher compliments of Howard Books, a division of Simon and Schuster Publishers for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions contained here are strictly my own unless otherwise notated. This book made me realize that we can all make a difference if we are only willing to step out in faith and try. For me it will be using my blog to reach out and offer encouragement to those who truly need it and to pray for people who ask. For those who are wondering what their purpose is in life, I would encourage you to read this book, you might just be surprised by the answers you find when you finish and thus the reason for a 4.5 out of 5 stars in my opinion.

Mist of Midnight

As long as we have someplace to call home, we have a sense of security no matter what happens in life. When Rebecca Ravenshaw left England years ago to work with her family as missionaries in India, she found a second home among the lower castes of people. People who appreciated what she did to improve their lives and it was those very same people who saved her life when the uprisings began. Her parents did not survive. All she had hoped was to head home and try to salvage something of the life she had known from her families home in Hampshire, England.

What she wasn't looking for was out right suspicion on who she claimed to be. Apparently for several months, Rebecca Ravenshaw had returned to Headbourne House along with her Indian maid and only recently died leaving the estate to the only heir left, Captain Luke Whitfield. With very little to prove she is who she claims, she visits Headbourne House and confronts Captain Whitfield. He agrees to give her time at the estate for her claims to be proven that she is who she claims without being left on the street with nothing and no one to care for her. He agrees to move to the guest home for the time being until their solicitor can iron out who gets the estate and all it's withholdings.

The more Rebecca digs into the mysterious death surrounding the women impersonating her, the most suspicious she becomes that the one did not commit suicide and may have been murder. But if that is the case, is she now running the same risk? Why would someone want Rebecca murdered? Who had the most to gain if she were dead? Does the charming and handsome Captain Whitfield have anything to do with the apparent ease at which he acquired the estate after the imposters death? What will happen if Rebecca can't prove who she is?

I received Mist of Midnight by Sandra Bryd compliments of Howard Books, a division of Simon and Schuster Publishers for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions contained here are my own. This is such a wonderful novel because it combines the aspects of a traditional regency alongside a bit of suspense and mystery. It keeps you guessing who is responsible until almost the very end and now I can't wait for more novels in this series. Rebecca Ravenshaw is the epitome of a strong women who isn't about to let her dire financial situation and what people think of her, keep her from taking back what is rightfully hers even if it means stepping on a few politically correct toes to do it. Hands down a 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion. This is the first novel in the Daughters of Hampshire series!

By Your Side

I used to be a huge fan of Grey's Anatomy but since some of the story lines have changed that don't fall into things I agree with, I have given it up. I am thankful for authors like Candace Calvert who write incredible medical fictions like her Crisis Team Series, and By Your Side is just the latest that I've had the pleasure to read.

ER nurse, Macy Wynn and Deputy Fletcher Holt find themselves meeting in unremarkable ways, the first being that they happened to be on the scene of an active freeway shooter who was taking shots at vehicles and caused what a traffic accident that thankfully didn't claim any lives. Macy was tending to a child who was thrown from a van and Fletcher just happened to be on the freeway heading home when the situation developed. Seeing themselves at odds, even though neither is there on official duty, they bump heads in dealing with their respective situations.

Macy won't leave her victim even though she wasn't dispatched, and Fletcher needs to ensure the safety of everyone while the shooter is located even if it means stepping on Macy's toes. He makes matters worse when the man Macy arrived with appears to have been drinking and he want's to perform a DUI field test on a man well connected with politics. Macy knows things are going to get out of hand and heated if she can't find a way between them. Fletcher eventually ends up letting Macy drive them both home. But it doesn't end there.

As the shooter remains at large, his targets grow increasingly larger, from a police dog at a school to victims at a local bank. The one common factor besides the area of his aggression is Macy. Fletcher isn't sure just what the connection is, but when Macy is one again at the scene of another shooting, both her employer and Fletcher wonder just what is going on even though Macy assures them she is completely innocent on all accounts. Aside from all this both Macy and Fletcher are dealing with their own personal crisis while trying to keep their growing attractions for one another at bay.

I received By Your Side by Candace Calvert compliments of Tyndale House Publishers for my honest review and did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review. The opinions contained in this review are strictly my own. I absolutely was engaged in this storyline from the first page and Candace does an exceptional job at keeping the action moving forward and the reader interested until the final page. For me, this marks the sign of a great novel, one in which the reader takes a personal interest in the characters and one that they don't lose interest in the storyline along the way. For me, that makes this one a 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion. I love that things are nicely tied up with a bow as these two interact and life complicates their romance at times because that is believable. I can't wait for more from this author in the very near future. This is the first novel in the Crisis Team Series!!!

Happy, Calm and Focused - Product Review

Being a huge health nut and believer in natural supplements and food to inspire and provide just what we need to stay healthy, I took the opportunity to review a product known as H.C.F. or as the acronym conveys, Happy, Calm and Focused from the manufacturers of the product. It promised enhanced benefits to those who are looking for a natural alternative to help maintain brain focus and retention. As I have gotten older, I noticed immediately that I am lagging in that area being over 50. I've tried other supplements you can obtain from your local health store or vitamin shop and was really anxious to see if these would work as promised. Here is what the company has to say about their product:

The advantage HCF® Happy, Calm & Focused® has over other brain supplements is simple. Typical brain supplements and memory nutrients rely on high-dose “50-ingredients-in-one” glorified multi-vitamins or just herbs to artificially give your brain a lift. HCF supports feeding your brain’s own neurotransmitters with what it is supposed to have—F and Q Amino Acids. So you can stay at your best longer without fear of crashing. In other words, you can get the happiness, calmness, and focus you need to turn possibility into reality, whether you’re shooting for a championship or just trying to make it through your long work day.

I was really hoping after much research into the product that it would work as promised. For me unfortunately I noticed no changes in my mood, my ability to stay focused on tasks or any noticeable improvement at all. The product does state that time is required before you notice anything, but after 30 days of taking it still nothing. My research into the product shows it does work for some customers and I was hopeful it would work for me as well. Unfortunately this one didn't deliver.

I do love the fact that the company provides a product that isn't filled with chemical and unknowns and the list of ingredients on the bottle you get is strictly vitamins, amino acids and minerals that you can find naturally not filled with things you don't know what they are. The product can be taken with up to 6 pills per dose which I would find is a bit much for anyone who is buying this product for the reason it was intended. They do give up a full bottle right up to the lid which is unlike some supplements. Since I agreed to provide an honest review of the product, I can say for me it didn't work but it might for someone else.

I received H.C.F. compliments of the HCF Company for my honest review and did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review other than a complimentary bottle of the HCF product. In being honest, I can say it didn't work for me, but it might be worth a try for someone else looking for a natural health supplement. I'd have to rate this product a 2 out of 5 stars because it does use natural vitamins and amino acids in the product. For me, I have had better results with other products in the past and will not be purchasing this product in the future.

Then Sings My Soul

One of the best reasons for loving books is that often times as you read them you get insight into a part of history you never knew before as the author uses a particular setting or real life story as the inspiration of their novel. Amy K. Sorrells does just that in Then Sings My Soul, her latest Christian Historical novel.

The story intersects throughout the novel between life in 1904 to present day as Eleanor "Nel" Stewart returns home after learning her mother has passed away. She has wanted to come home before this but simply never had the time and now as she prepares for her mother's funeral, she also comes full term to the realization that her father, Jakob is dealing with dementia. Their families past is rich in historical detail as Jakob remembers fleeing the Ukraine as a Jewish boy to come to America for a better life. It's those long pain ridden memories that Jakob shares in subsequent chapters that shows the horror he and his older brother Peter shared as the genocide took place eliminating anyone of Jewish origin and Jakob's survival was based on his ability to hide when his family was killed.

It is a horror no one with dementia would ever want to revisit as they find themselves locked into a past they only wish to forget. For Nel, she witnesses the man she adored and looked up to become a fragile shell of who he once was as she learns more about the families past while working to resolve her families estate and help her father with his illness. Her experience as a lapidarist is evident as she spent her childhood with her father watching him cut gems into beautiful jewelry, something she treasures as something they both loved to do to help support them. She learns about how much her father refuses to accept that God was in control despite all the horrors he had to witness in his life despite the faith of those around him.

I received Then Sings My Soul by Amy K. Sorrells compliments of Christian Fiction Blog Alliance and David C. Cook Publishers for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed here are my own.  This is such a beautiful story of hope because you can relate to what Jakob has had to endure his whole life. People telling him about God's faithfulness but despite their faith terrible things still happened to his family. It would definitely cause one to be hardened to those things as his life wore on and that comes across through Amy's novel. It's about getting to the end of your life and taking a hard look back and realizing that God was there all along even though He didn't do the things you would have wanted him to do. I'd rate this one, a 4 out of 5 stars in my opinion. At the end of the novel you'll find the personal story behind the novel as well as some reader discussion questions just perfect for a book club group.
