Holy Ghost DVD Review and Giveaway

If you've read the Bible, more specifically the book of Acts, you may remember when the Holy Spirit came upon the apostles while they were in the Upper Room. It was so powerful that they began to speak in tongues, perform miracles and we're endowed with the supernatural spirit of God. But some would argue that that time was needed in order to complete the Bible since Jesus had ascended to Heaven and once it was complete, the need for the Holy Spirit was no longer needed. Thus no more miracles, divine spiritual prophecies, and all that was needed was simply the Word of God.

But the film makers of Holy Ghost have challenged you to open your minds to the possibility that the Holy Spirit is much, much more and is still at work today, performing miracles, changing impossible lives and moving His Spirit where He leads to bring the message of hope and love to a hurting world. Armed with nothing more than faith and a small camera crew, they went where they felt the Spirit of God telling them to. You get the chance to see first hand how God is moving in ways you can't explain. From filming inside a Hindu Temple, which should have gotten them all killed, to walking the streets proclaiming God's love to a desperate world. From praying with people outside a Korn concert with lead guitarist Brian "Head" Welch, to having an intimate conversation with Lenny Kravitz, Michael W. Smith, and DeVon Franklin.

The one thing that stuck with me the most during this DVD was not that more "Christian artists" were needed in the world, but more "artists" that are grounded in their Christian faith to go into the dark places of the world and shine God's love into the hearts and souls of people who would never go to a church to find it. This is what I believe Jesus challenged us all in the Great Commission was to go into places and find lost souls and rescue them, show them the love of God, and heal their lives. Jesus didn't come to save those who were well but to those that were sick, lost and dying, and so we must be challenged as well.

I received Holy Ghost compliments of Wanderlust Productions and Flyby Promotions for my honest review and did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review. You can not help but to be moved by this movie and for the love the film makers utilized like Todd White, Will Hart and Jamie Galloway who truly take the message to the streets where people need to hear it. I caution parents that this may be suitable for children over the age of 12 simply because there are parts of the movie, one at a rock concert in which certain types of hand gestures are used that may not be appropriate. Overall the movie is powerful and I believe it lights the fire that may lie dormant in some of us. A great movie to use in Bible Studies or college small group studies. I would rate this one a 4.5 out of 5 stars in my opinion.

You can even get an exclusive world premiere opportunity to view this movie on September 6th only, by clicking here to view the movie.

Ragamuffin - DVD Giveaway and Review

In the world of rising music stars and American Idols, I believe we fail to see the real people hidden behind the record labels and recording studios. The people who exist when all the lights and cameras are gone home for the night. When they are simply all alone with their thoughts. We don't always see the real people, the brutally honest insight into what goes on and what they are really feeling on the inside.

In the DVD Ragamuffin, which chronicles the life of Rich Mullins, you get to see past all the glitz and publicity to watch the rise of what it took back in the late 70s to gain the notoriety we see in our music artists today. Yet the one thing that sticks with you is the honesty in his life. Raised as a farmer who didn't quite possess the skills necessary to gain success in the eyes of his father, Rich gravitated to music in which he excelled naturally. Unfortunately he was seen as less than worthy in the eyes of his own father, which made understanding the love of God difficult. If God loves you, you should believe it. When Rich looked at that model in his own life no matter how many people told him that his real dad loved him, he found that faith hard to swallow.

Throughout the movie, however, Rich never losses his honest faith with connecting with the God of the Bible. His faith is genuine and the messages he shared when playing his music in churches connected with people on a level I don't think many can achieve even now. He wasn't looking for fame, wealthy or success. He simply was looking for a place to call home. He found it briefly when he met a girl named Jess, who provided him that unconditional love, we all need to feel a part of something bigger. But when Nashville called wanting to record his songs for artists like Amy Grant, Jess gracefully bowed out, even though Rich declined to go. She knew he was destined for more and the struggles he makes to find his way in the world, I think everyone can relate to.

I received Ragamuffin compliments of Millennium Entertainment and Flyby Promotions for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed in this review are strictly my own. There are simply too many good things to say about this movie but most of all is that God is genuine and He is real. The story of Rich's life shows how desperately he wanted that connection he had with God to be manifested in human form. He shares how difficult and lonely life can be at times, and I think that hits home with so many. Our lives at times have their moments when we can simply feel all alone and wondering if our one life makes any difference at all. This story of Rich's showcases just how one life can impact and cause the ripples that span long after they begin and I believe that is the message behind it all. I easily give this one a 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion.

The Good Book

Sometimes movies don't have to say anything to get their message across. It might be the right blend of music along with great storytelling to convey a universal message. Such is the case with a new movie set to debut this fall from Mainstreet Productions and Faith Flix Films. The Good Book is unique as it is a 60 minute long DVD that portrays the story of how the Bible impacts the lives of the people it touches without any words or dialog. It is a silent movie that needs no words.

The movie begins with a young boy who is sitting with his family reading the story of Daniel from the Bible. It also happens to be his name as well. Since he wants to stay up and finish the story, his parents insist it's bedtime for both him and his younger sister. But Daniel can't wait for morning and finds a way to get in the last part of the story by candlelight. What he doesn't realize is how this simple actions will lead to a series of events involving the Bible when a disaster strikes the family home that is accidentally cause by Daniel. When he feels guilty for his behavior and runs away, trouble soon follows. Daniel finds sanctuary in a homeless camp and once more God's Word seems to be the root of his problems.

As each person in the movie comes into contact with the Bible, each adds their name to it. Soon the Bible makes it way across the world and into the hands of Bible smugglers. Their purpose is to spread the Word of God but each Bible is carefully wrapped inside shirts to avoid detection. However when the home is discovered and the Bibles are taken and destroyed, the young man, Caleb will pay the ultimate price to seeing the Word of God is spread as far as possible.

I received The Good Book compliments of Mainstreet Productions and Faith Flix Films for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed here are my own. Each of the people that the Bible touches in this silent film is hurting in their own way but each also finds solace in the words the Bible contains at just the right moment. The film score completely fills the space that words would normally find and it makes for a unique family movie. It shows us that words are not necessary and sometimes it is simple that our actions will speak much louder than words ever could. We may never see how our lives or our words impact others until we get to heaven but God's Word will never return void. I rate this DVD a 4 out of 5 stars and this film has received the approval of the Dove Foundation for family entertainment of 5 doves.

The Good Book is currently making its rounds in the film festival circuit and screening at churches and independent theaters. The DVD will be officially released to stores this fall. Pre-release DVD’s are available for sale on our website. In the two months since its world premiere, the movie has been awarded “Best Inspirational Film” at the Holywood Christian Film Festival in New York, was an Official Selection in the International Christian Film Festival in Orlando and was selected to screen in Cannes this week as a Special Presentation by the International Christian Film Festival. It’s an Official Selection in the upcoming GloryReelz Christian Film Festival in Michigan and was invited to be a Special Presentation in the upcoming Churches Making Movies Film Festival in Vermont.

CAMP - DVD Review

I love it when you watch a movie that (1) is based on true stories and (2) moves you to tears and action. Such is the case on the latest DVD from Word Films, CAMP. Based on true stories from camp counselors, founders of Royal Family Kids and even former campers, CAMP takes a look through the ways in which volunteers who work at CAMP Pine, one week a year to help troubled kids forget their personal problems and provide a way to have fun and be loved in ways they could only imagine.

Ken Matthews is your typical ego centered financial advisor who believes that life revolves around making even more money than he already has. When a potential client is about to slip through his fingers, his assistant convinces her that Ken has offered to volunteer at a summer camp she sponsors as a way to give back to the community. Seeing this as a chance to secure the deal of a lifetime, Ken agrees to head to a camp for young kids believing it will simply be a piece of cake. He is instructed to read the rules of being a volunteer counselor since he is joining pretty late into the program, which he believes is optional and more trouble than it's worth. He fails to understand just what he has signed up for until he arrives at Camp Pine and finds himself as Eli's counselor.

Eli is a young boy who has been abused by both of his parents and now lives in Foster care. His whole life has been a series of reminders that he is neither good enough or worthy enough of any love. What he finds in Ken is someone who reminds him of his parents, someone who is buying their time until they are rid of Eli. So Eli lashes out at not only Ken but the other kids in camp further isolating himself from the group in an attempt to justify how everyone in his life has made him feel. Will Ken be able to find a way to reach Eli before he does something that will not only risk his own life but the lives of everyone at camp?

I received CAMP compliments of Word Films and Edify Media Inc for my honest review and received no monetary compensation for a favorable review. This is a hard film to watch since it involves the abuse of a young boy, but we can't just pretend these things don't happen because we don't want to see them. The best part of this DVD is the incredible organization Royal Family KIDS which the true inspiration that makes this a must see. It will move you to tears and will hopefully move you to action either in involving yourself as a volunteer for Royal Family KIDS or even to financial support them in any way possible. It is simply too hard to not doing anything after watching this amazing inspirational and truly unforgettable life-changing movie. I personally rate it a 5 out of 5 stars.

The Crossmaker - DVD Giveaway and Review

We all have read and seen the story of Easter according to the Bible, but here is a perfect way to capture the attention of children everywhere with this latest DVD from See The Light called The Crossmaker.

We learn what happens in the life of a boy named Dominic whose father makes crosses. When called to finish a last minute order, his father asks if he will make the cross and deliver it as soon as it is finished. Dominic is reluctant due to the comments his friends make when they see him delivering crosses but his father insists that he be the one to take this cross today. They are expecting it.

We are drawn into the life of a small boy when he delivers the cross to a Roman guard only to see a story unfold before his eyes as Pilate begins to deal with the crowd of people who have brought a man named Jesus before him. Dominic soon will discover that he will play a pivotal part in what ultimately happens to Jesus.

Brought to life by illustrations in chalk as the story unfolds to the viewer, we learn once more about the death and resurrection of Jesus through the telling of the story just in time for Easter. This DVD is packed with extras including over an hour and a half of art lessons showcasing illuminated letters and chalk drawings that your child can watch and complete in easy to follow step by step directions. You also will receive contemporary music performed by Breathing Room as Gloria draws along with it creating the Easter story.
