The Road to Hell
I don't know how I passed this book up?
I kept coming across fellow Book Reviewers that I know, that said how amazing this book was for a first time author, Jess Hanna and for those that love supernatural and spiritual warfare fiction genre's this was a must read. To say that it got my curiosity up was a bit of an understatement. I was even willing to pay for this one since I respected the opinions of my fellow peers not to steer me wrong. Thankfully, I had uploaded it some time ago, along with the second novel when it was offered FREE and never had the time to fully dedicate some time to reading it. Last night I finished it and so glad I did.
First of all if you love that supernatural, spiritual warfare novels like from such greats as Frank Peretti's Piercing the Darkness and This Present Darkness, do yourself a favor and pick this one up. It focuses on the life of one man Lucas Stone, who has made a name for himself working for Valiant Public Relations and never really considered at any point in his career he would find himself jobless. But that is just what happens to him, caught up in thinking he would skate by with another client who wanted to be "served" by Lucas but was left high and dry instead. It was the straw that broke the camel's back with the agency.
Now jobless and without any future prospects the drive home that day would forever change his life when he gets into an accident he failed to see coming. In an instant both is physical mobility and his spiritual outlook on life would change in a heartbeat as he fights both for his physical life and his spiritual one as well, when he finds that instead of taking that journey into the tunnel of light, he is pulled down into the vacuum of hell only to realize what a tragic mistake he took. After a handful of days in the hospital enduring physical therapy, he now is faced with mounting medical bills and no way of paying them. God sends him a man named Mike that would teach him about unconditional love and what a true Christian walk looks like with human skin on.
Throughout the book, Lucas' life is moved with other characters that have crossed his path and will play a pivotal role in the culmination of the purest evil known to man in the physical world as Lucas is once again faced with a public relations nightmare when one of his clients seeks him out to help him launch his career as an author who has written a controversial book on what the real definition of hell looks like. Is it the same as the one Lucas experiences or it this a wolf in sheep's clothing. For me, this is a phenomenal novel and one I couldn't wait to finish. It is well worth all 5 out of 5 stars in this reader's opinion and now I can't wait to read his other novel Adverse Possession.

The Masterpiece
I have fallen in love with Francine River's novels.
So whenever I hear that she has written a new one, it's an automatic response for me to buy it. I don't even have to know what it is about, because I love the way she writes her novels. I know it will be life changing for me. I know it will also challenge me in a good way as well.
So when her latest novel, The Masterpiece arrived, I couldn't wait to carve out some time to sit back and enjoy my book, like someone would enjoy a fine wine, a decadent dessert or whatever will cause you to get excited because it is something you will look forward to.
I was not disappointed.
The story takes place between a struggling famous artist, Roman Velasco, who has to come to terms with his past before he can ever move forward in his future. To say he is a success at painting is an understatement and his paintings are always sold out for obscene amounts of money. He can't seem to find a way to manage all the time in between and has gone through so many personal assistants, the agency is down to its final candidate and if he isn't happy with this one, they are done trying to work with him.
Fortunately for Grace Moore, she needs this job and will stop at nothing to ensure she makes enough money that she can move out of the home she shares with a couple that had hoped to adopt her young son when he was born. They are still hoping she will change her mind and thus the reason for letting her stay. They understand how difficult it is for a single mother to make it in Los Angeles alone! So Grace is will to pass along a little "grace" to Roman and hopefully find a way for the two to work together. But she will also need to come to terms with her own past, and one that can apply a little grace to both of their lives.
The Masterpiece by Francine Rivers is an exceptional look into the pasts that we think define who we are today and unfortunately for some hold us back in the very areas that God wants to release us from. While Grace has the faith to work through some of her issues, there are some still holding her back. Yet at least, she begins to peel back the layers of Roman's past and help him to see that God is his only hope for a future, that is if she can reach him before his has a tragic accident that will forever change them both. Well worth all 5 out of 5 stars in this reader's opinion and now proud to add this novel to my permanent library.

When Angels Cry
Are you a fan of the Left Behind Series? Are you a fan of Frank Peretti's novels? Wouldn't it be great it they were combined to make something truly unforgettable and life changing? Well MaryLu Tyndall has done just that in her latest novel When Angels Cry. It takes the spiritual warfare aspects of the unseen world we live in but most of us have no idea is happening all around us, and blends it in a futuristic End Times setting for her characters. Each chapter of the novel opens in a great Biblical scripture that highlights where these events spoken about in this novel can be found and even had myself opening up my own Bible to highlight these scripture references.
Angelica Smoke has the unique ability to be able to see into the Spiritual realm and can see exactly what is going on in the world around her that others don't. Working at the Mermaid Den as a cocktail waitress in a seedy bar where demons surround the customers she waits on, God reveals things to her as she spreads the gospel message and prays for those she serves. Often times, this results in salvation for that individual but in most cases she is simply planting seeds in their hearts. As a single mom, she has to do all she can to help raise her son Isaac, alongside her roommate Leigh and her son Joel. While Leigh still doesn't believe in God, Angelica keeps trying to convince her that what is happening in the world around them is all predicted by the Bible.
Daniel Cain is pastor of the Mega Church, Fort Lauderdale Church of Grace, and has worked his entire life to build up his flock, alongside his best friend Thomas. He believes in an inclusive church over the exclusive churches that have now been outlawed. Using the reformed Bible, the NWLV, New World Love Version, he believes his goals is to fill the seats, while giving them the message of God's love and grace over repenting over sin, and being saved. Despite the violate world around him, he is pushing for a position in Washington, perhaps even being a part of the New World Order heading up combining all into a single religion. He just doesn't expect his perfect world to come crashing down when Angelica comes back into his life. It's been 12 years since they were an item but both of them have changed and those old feelings will have to be pushed back despite the prophetic message that she brings to him, that he is not ready. Just what is that supposed to mean?
I received When Angels Cry by MaryLu Tyndall compliments of Random Press and the author. In accordance with the new FTC Guidelines for blogging and endorsements, you should assume that every book reviewed here at Reviews From The Heart was provided to the reviewer by the publisher, media group or the author for free and were received, unless specified otherwise. In a world where homeschooling is outlawed, home churches meet in secret, possession of an original Bible is cause for arrest, the times are getting shorter as the Bible has predicted. As angels sit back and watch the proceedings, they can only get involved if God allows it. So very few people are even aware how close they were to the end of days. A typical Saturday night at the Mermaid Den. Men and women numbing their pain and their consciences with alcohol until they gave way into every wicked impulse, opening the door to a multitude of demonic hosts lurking in the shadows. I love the way MaryLu uses events happening in our world today to highlight where we might be in biblical history pertaining to the Second Coming of Christ and the rapture prior to the Tribulation. This is such a wonderful MUST read book for anyone who is looking for a great novel that combines End Time Biblical Events and Spiritual Warfare all in one. For me, this one is a 5 out of 5 stars! I hope there is a second one coming soon!

Deadly Decision
"Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divinations or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritualist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord..." Deuteronomy 18:10-12a
The Bible pretty much spells out that most of the stuff we are seeing in the world today whether on TV, movies or even played out in real life, has eternal consequences when we walk blindly about into them, allow them to permeate our thoughts and actions and often times, associate with someone who does, under the premise that that are wearing a "Christian" label. But like lambs to the slaughter we can all be misled.
"Let me tell you right off, I don't believe in ghosts. I never have and never will. Not good ones, anyway. But some things are hard to explain. If you have ever considered getting involved in the occult, you need to hear my story. It may change your mind. ~ Bill Iver."
Deadly Decision by Regina Smeltzer is a novel dealing with the supernatural and what happens when one man's faith in what he sees and what he knows will be called into question. Both the believer and non believer struggle to overcome things they don't understand but seem to be happening where only Bill Iver can see them and no one else can explain. When Bill arrives to help his daughter Trina and her husband Ted out in renovating a dilapidated old home into a future bed and breakfast, he knew there was more to the home than what he could see. He just never imagined that upon visiting the homes attic, he would see two young boys, one of whom is wearing a chain around his neck and fastened to a beam in the attic. Believing these are real children, when he approaches them his hand passes right through them and they vanish. Not imagine trying to tell your daughter and her husband what you just witnessed.
Bill knows as a Christian, there are no such thing as ghosts only demons masquerading as ghosts, but then learns that one of the boys has been reported missing by the owner of the home. Has Bill just been given insight into the unseen world and has Jimmy crossed over to the other side and is now dead? Bill begins to wonder just how he can process what is happening in the house and of course, Trina and Ted are a bit apprehensive to Bill's visions of ghosts but then when strange things begin to happen inside the home, it might be possible there is more in the home than what one can see.
I received Deadly Decision by Regina Smeltzer compliments of Pelican Book Groups and Net Galley. This is definitely a suspense thriller and found myself wondering why I chose to read this the one night I was home alone. Yet it is so nice knowing that this genre is still available to educate and also entertain those of us that like a little bit of spookiness this time of the year without all the evil and gore that go along with it. I love how Regina orchestrated the story line and loved how she used situations that almost everyone might utilize to figure out what is going on in the home. To uncover what it is, you will have to pick this one up to read, but trust me, this one worked out brilliantly. Just the right amount of suspense to keep me engaged and wanting to know how it would all turn out. For me, this one rated a 4 out of 5 in my opinion.

On The Edge
Sometimes we don't think our lives have an impact at all, much like George Bailey of It's A Wonderful Life, because we don't have to perspective that God has to see the ripples of those we come into contact with every single day. We all know as believers in Christ, the impacts we have on those close to us like family and friends and being a husband and father in this world holds the key to some much it is hard to wrap our heads around it. There are those like Richard Sullivan, the main character in F. Parker Hudson's novel, On the Edge who believe like most non-believers that we are here simply to do the best with what we have with the time we have. There are no supreme consequences for any life decisions we make, because there is no God after all. So is the life he lives and as readers, we get to see those ripples as they reach out to his wife and children and even friends and work associates.
Richard's life is probably like most middle age men of this world. He works hard to provide for his family of two growing teens Susan and Tommy, but as a corporate attorney, he is very much in demand and believes that providing a sound financial future for them all, is the extent of his main responsibility to his family. His marriage to Janet is in the standard rut after many of years of being together, and with her job at the news station, they are simply roommates at this stage of their life trying to get by. Perhaps that is why Richard is so pleased with Kristen, a much younger real estate agent who he has been having an affair with every Tuesday and Thursday when everyone in his life believes he goes to the gym to work out. Richard truly justifies every decision in his life with any regard to the consequences his actions are having on his family.
We get to see first hand from a physical sense and also a look in the spiritual realm of how these things are being puppeted and manipulated by demons because Richard's life and that of those around him have no desire to know about God and offers no protection to what is happening and how it will all play out. Since his parents weren't believers, he has no foundation to stand on, no seed has been planted in his life, even though he does have some interaction with believers of Christ, he doesn't buy into any of it. When his family ask him for help, he has no guidance to offer them other than his own opinion or experience in the matter and it simply drives a greater rift between him and his family with eternal consequences that will impact all of them.
I received On the Edge by F. Parker Hudson compliments of the author himself for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review aside from a free copy of this novel and the opinions contained here are my personal and honest ones. This is an exceptional look into the invisible spiritual realm and we get to see two very different versions of Richard's life being played out before the reader. In Book One, we see what Richard's life is like without his acceptance of God into his life and its eternal impacts. In Book Two, the author gives us a George Bailey moment in which we get to see an alternative version of his life in which seeds are planted and later harvested when Richard becomes a believer. It provides for the reader a way to look at their own lives and see first hand how these "ripples" in our life can touch so many others without us even knowing it. I love the disclaimer the author also provides at the beginning of this novel because the Bible does offer us some idea of angelic interaction, it does leave the actual appearance a bit of mystery since they are not truly described in detail. For me, this is my all time favorite genre and the first I've ever read like it offering two very different versions of the same story within the cover which is why I believe this one deserves a 5 out of 5 stars. I caution you however, that some of the subjects discussed may be upsetting to some, but defines the implications on how sin develops in the lives of those without Christ.

Sons of God
There is a small section in the book of Genesis, chapter 6, that very few people understand as they read it. For some, it's simply words in the Bible that they fail to understand the meaning behind the words "sons of God." For an avid Bible student, it refers to the fallen remnant of angels that fell to Earth during Lucifer's rebellion in Heaven. In order to further pollute the world with unparalleled sin, the fallen angels or demons took on human form and married daughters of women. The offspring of these relationships resulted in a creation called Nephilim, half man, half demon. But those were all but destroyed when God called forth the great flood and saved only 8 people, Noah and his family. But it is possible that something of this magnitude could still happen even today?
In Mike Dellosso's book Sons of God, he takes what he refers to as a theological thriller, which unleashes a few themes that run the length of his fictional novel about that very thing happening in a small town of Forest Ridge Pennsylvania, and impacting the Grace Bible Church and it's pastor Scott Davies in ways they could have never seen coming. Fans of spiritual warfare and supernatural fiction will absolutely LOVE the direction Mike took this storyline. Scott is dealing with his own personal demons as he struggles to deal with the loss of his wife Jess, three years ago. He doesn't realize how hard it will be to explain the presence of evil he both sees and feels when a trio of young men suddenly take an interest in three of the young women attending his church.
With visions of romance and love in their eyes, all three unexpectedly announce to Pastor Scott their intention on marriage to these three young men. While Scott can't explain his distrust of what is happening, he tries to encourage them to attend premartial counseling to ensure a successful marriage, but that is not what is on the minds of Jason, Josh and Brian and they manage to weave quite a web of destruction both for Scott and the people of Forest Ridge. Only time will tell if Scott will have enough faith in God to go to war with an ancient enemy!
I was not provided with any monetary compensation for a favorable review for Sons of God and the opinions expressed here are my own. I've read quite a few of Mike's novels and some how missed this one. Being a huge lover of spiritual warfare and supernatural suspense fiction, this one fell right into my book lovers heart. There is such a great element of taking the creation of the Nephilim and bringing it into the possibility of recreation in modern times. We can only hope this will remain a fictional storyline and one that history hopefully will not repeat, but you never know what the future brings as we race closer to the end times. I easily give this one a 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion.

Wonder
If you have never read Travis Thrasher's novels, he pretty much has a novel written to meet every interest but for me, nothing is more thrilling than to find Christian authors who know how to keep you glued to their novels, add the element of suspense and things that go bump in the dark, and you have me on their waiting list for the next one!
In the coming of age series geared more for the young adult or teen fans, The Books of Marvella have struck a cord in this book lover's heart! To say that there is something evil coming in the town of Appleton, earmarks what you will find when you enter the life of Brandon Jeffrey, a senior struggling to make his way in a difficult world marked by two unsolved murders involving teens that have happened in his town.
To say that the town is on edge is an understatement. Parents are concerned that their teens don't go out at night or alone until the person or persons responsible are caught. There is something brewing with an elderly man known as Otis who owns the quarry. Late at night he can be seen burying things in the back of his house but no one knows what is is. Now it seems he has formed a following when Brandon's best friend Devon, takes up watching his nightly activities believing he is behind the sinister evil building in town. Brandon doesn't want anything to do with stalking people at night especially when he is dealing with his own abusive alcoholic father who almost killed him in a car accident, watching over his younger brothers, keeping the secrets of the abuse from his mother, and trying to win the girl of his dreams.
Sounds like the typical life for a senior teen living in Appleton right? Now that school is back in session, all those summer escapades have not been forgotten. Brandon's intervention with the school's bullies, who also happen to be on the football team, have not gone unnoticed. Brandon's ex girlfriend, Taryn is stirring up trouble for Marvel on Social Media sites and Marvel still believes she will die doing something for God's glory and it will happen sooner than everyone believes. So just what is hiding in the shadows of Appleton? Only time will tell.
I received Wonder by Travis Thrasher compliments of NavPress, a division of Tyndale House Publishers for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed here are strictly my own. The best part of this entire series, is the tension that Travis is building but not sharing what is really going on. He is keeping that just beyond what the reader can see, but the suspense element that keeps coming from each of this novels is growing. Evil is slowly showing itself in the unexplained and just who is the hippie older man, Phil who shows up just when Brandon seems to be willing to take unexpected risks? We know he works at the record store with Brandon, but is there a spiritual element here at work as well? All I can tell you is that I can't wait for the next novel and poor Travis Thrasher can't write fast enough for me. This one hits it out of the park again with a stellar 5 out of 5 stars! Suspense fans looking for a bit of the creep factor, pick this entire series and Solitary Tales as well. This is the second novel in The Books of Marvella series with Marvelous being the first. Start there before reading Wonder or it simply won't make sense.

The Ether: Vero Rising
To say that Vero Leland is not normal is a true statement but only for those that really know the truth. For everyone else, they think he's a freak of nature. It's not always easy fitting in at school especially in middle school as a 12-year-old boy. It's a good thing your best friend, Tack, is someone the most fear and is a whole lot taller than everyone else. Ever since Vero was young, he had an irresistible urge to fly. He tried leaping off of tree limbs, large fences and even once the roof of his house, believing in his ability to be able to fly one day. Only that day was still far in the future.
Vero was a special child and since the day his parents adopted him, only his mother knew the special circumstances surrounding his discovery and in keeping him safe at all costs. Now as Vero struggles to understand things happening around him, he finds out that he is not who he thought after all when he is taken to the Ether, a place in between heaven and earth when the spiritual forces of good and evil battle for the protection and souls of the humans they are assigned. Vero learns that he is a guardian angel in training, being born as a human, he has 18 years to train before his earthly body will experience death and he is taken from the family he loves on earth.
But Vero is no ordinary guardian angel in training, God has granted Vero the ability to do things even the archangel Michael doesn't possess and with those powers now Lucifer and his demons are out to make sure that Vero doesn't accomplish his purpose and once they learn who Vero loves the most, those people will be easier targets to draw Vero out to wage warfare in the Ether. But in order for that to happen, Vero's training must begin in the Ether and the first order of business is finally learning to fly. But like all great challenges, we need a little help from our friends and Vero will soon meet fellow guardian angels in training, Kane, Ada, Pax, Greer and X who will all learn that no one person is strong enough to defeat evil on their own.
I received The Ether: Vero Rising by Laurice Molinari compliments of Zondervan Publishing and Christian Fiction Blog Alliance for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed are strictly my own. This is the first novel for middle school age children on spiritual warfare. Being a huge fan of fiction based books, I love where Laurice took this one. The power of prayers in the hands of angels is a wonderful way to teach the power of prayer to anyone. I love how things don't flow smoothly for Vero as he struggles with the same feelings that a young boy would in discovering his emotions and how they impact things in the spiritual realm known in this series as the Ether. He has a great support system both in the spiritual world as well as through his sister and best friend and I think that is part of the reason why this series will be a huge hit for teens. Finally something written just for their age that enables them to gain a simple understanding the mysteries of the spiritual world. Think Piercing The Darkness and This Present Darkness but for kids! I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars and can't wait to read even more!

Dark Hour
If you don't already know this about me, I love Supernatural Suspense Thriller and once again Greg Mitchell has managed to completely captivate me and keep me literally on the edge of my seat with the conclusion to his fantastic series The Coming Evil. In the final novel, Dark Hour, things are about to come to an end, quite literally between the remnant of believers located in the town of Greensboro. They have had to resort to hiding in the abandoned church while evil quite literally is running unleashed among the residents in town that either have sided with the new mayor John Graves or have taken a passive approach to remain neutral and avoid either side.
John Graves is not all whom he seems to be, and quite literally is evil personified. He has convinced the town that he is their salvation and whatever their hearts desire is, he can make it happen, if they are willing to put their faith in him. I mean who wants to adhere to the same old strict dogma the church has been forcing people to deal with their whole lives. One in which you have to make sacrifices to give up those things which bring you the most desire, wealth, love and your ability to worship as you please. In fact, so many of the town's residents have bought into the lie, that there is virtually nothing left to redeem in this town. Only now, those who remain strong in their faith in Jesus, are considered evil now, and Mayor Graves has vowed to destroy the remnant that remains. Using all manner of creatures from the depths of hell along with the sin filled presence that inhabits the local lake, he vows to take back the town by the coming Dark Hour.
"The greatest evil is not the devil or his angels but the darkness that resides in the human heart. I'm only offering the people what they have always wanted since the Garden of Eden. Freedom without responsibility. Choice without consequence."
The remnant of believers headed up by Reverend Jeff Weldon believes that redemption is possible for anyone and he will stop at nothing to continue to preach the message of hope to the residents of Greensboro. Along with his wife Isabella and a handful of believers all they understand is that the town in on the verge of some ultimate choice. One that will either take back the town from Mayor Graves, who is known by the believers as the Strange Man or they will simply die trying. They know time is running out for the last opportunity to take a stand for God once and for all and with some divine supernatural help on both ends, the end may be a whole lot closer than most would like to believe.
I received Dark Hour, the third and final novel in The Coming Evil series from author Greg Mitchell for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review. This one really brings to a close all the unanswered questions that the reader may have had in reading the first two novels in the series, The Strange Man and Enemies of the Cross. Here things are wrapped up in a culmination in the ultimate battle between good and evil as angels, demons and the prayers of believers go head to head for the salvation of the town of Greensboro. I believe the message of just what the true power of love and forgiveness is found within the pages of this unforgettable novel. It shows just what the Bible tells us that the greatest power on earth is simply love. Love ultimately triumphs over evil in the end. It gave me a new meaning to some of the scriptures I had read so many times, but found great power and faith in them. I rate this one hands down a perfect 5 out of 5 not so much for the overall content in this one, but also due to the fact that it never left me once I finished the novel. It stayed with me and continue to speak volumes to my spiritual heart. You will need to read the novels in order to understand where the story is going. This is not a stand alone novel.
"In the heavenlies, we're never removed from the presence of God. He's our light and our strength. But down here...down here, things are gray. Muddled. The Light is so much harder to see." ~ Christopher (Angel in Heaven)

New Wings
"When we pray for the supernatural, why are we surprised when it actually shows up?"
What an exceptional tagline that immediately made me want to pick up this novel, New Wings by author Donna Stanley. Ever since my first experience with spiritual warfare novels involving angels and demons living among us in the unseen realm through Frank Peretti's amazing Darkness novels, I've been searching for more just like it. Thankfully Donna has come through for me in this latest endeavor of hers. This is definitely a novel geared for young adults but I found such wisdom between the pages I just had to share my thoughts on this novel.
The story takes us into the heart of Olivia Stanton who has always wanted to see her guardian angel. She prays for it and soon God takes her up on the challenge. Her angel Mike appears to her as a teen driving a red Camaro watching her in the high school parking lot. Not really sure who he is at the time, Olivia gets spooked one day driving home and tries to lose Mike as he follows her in his car. When she runs out of gas, Mike offers to get her some gas and sends her on her way. Over the next few days, Olivia soon learns that Mike is her guardian angel and is sent to help prepare her for the spiritual needs of her high school friends. She meets Mike in her dreams who shows her that a close friend is cutting and if she doesn't intervene, she will commit suicide. It is then that Olivia begins to see how God can use her prayers and praise to impact the spiritual world in powerful ways.
Slowly she begins to see how people around her are being influenced and manipulated by demons as well as angels and just what she can do as a prayer warrior for Jesus who can seen into the spiritual realm. But even Olivia isn't perfect and finds herself falling under the temptation of finding a boy who will love her and fails to pray about it first. She soon finds herself in a bad situation with a boy who wants nothing to do with falling in love with Olivia and is merely a player. Soon she learns that not everything she faces will be easy and that each day is an opportunity to draw closer to God and that the most powerful weapon a believer possesses is their ability to pray.
I received the novel, New Wings by Donna Stanley compliments of Glass Roads Public Relations and Creation House for my honest review and received no monetary compensation for a favorable one. In light of all the teens paranormal novels inundating the book market, I am relieved to see a breath of fresh air in Donna's novel. It does not imply a worship of angels and instead shows teens how their prayers impact the spiritual world we can't always see. In one situation, Olivia's friend Christina asks her to volunteer at a homeless shelter and Olivia is repulsed and afraid based on a situation she encountered when she was younger, but Mike encourages her to go anyway. In the end, Olivia sees the power of what her actions can do to bless the lives of the people she meets at the homeless shelter serving lunch and God gives her the opportunity to see them through His eyes. This is such a must read novel for any one who loves novels on spiritual warfare. I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars and will be adding this one to my permanent library. I only hope that Donna continues to writing more in this genre. I think the impact will be life changing. I know just reading this novel has already changed my own prayer life.

Angelguard
All four men hugged each other enthusiastically. It had been over six months since they last met. They always gathered here before a job. The three others were an odd mix of nationalities: a Russian, a Saudi, and an American. All had been schooled in Switzerland, where their friendship began over forty years ago. From those early days, the foursome learned the power of money, fueling insatiable greed that had driven their future education and employment decisions.
Four powerful and wealthy men. All were men of influence. All wanted to leave their marks on the world. They had been planning their strikes for the best part of a decade. They had watched as the extremists and militants had conducted their own deadly missions and marveled at the continued vigor with which those groups persisted.
They weren't interested in the so-called faith-based battles. Their religion was money.
But the world had seen nothing like the three merciless strikes of January past, which had shown such unbridled hatred towards humankind, such lack of remorse.
"We have received confirmation that all members of the Security Council will be in attendance, together with the leaders of the G8 countries."
"By this time next week our mission will be complete, a message will have been firmly sent, and our careers as terrorists will be over." (pg163).
In the debut novel, Angelguard by Ian Acheson, the world has already experienced three bombings in London, Los Angeles and Sydney without any apparent motive. Now as world attempts to gain an understanding to what is happening all over the world, another war is being staged behind the scenes, only this one no one can see. This is the war between the demonic armies of Satan and the heavenly angels of God. Each has their own agenda. The warriors of God are working to ensure that God's protected people remain unharmed by the recent violent attacks orchestrated by Satan himself. These heavenly warriors are referred to as the Angelguard and are doing all they can to ensure that Loren Summers, Jack Haines and Thierry Le Bon remain alive to work together to bring a stop to the biggest threat that the world has ever seen. However Leopold Grosch, a Belgian industrialist, is merely a puppet in the hands of Satan's demons that will stop at nothing to ensure that the world is prepared for the ultimate in chaos to be unleashed.
I received Angelguard by Ian Acheson, compliments of Kregel Publications for my honest review and did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review. For those of you that are fans of Frank Peretti's "Darkness" series on spiritual warfare, then you will definitely want to pick this one up. The action picks up with the first bombing in London and moves briskly alternating between the seen and unseen world, humans, demon and angel battles happening at lightening fast pace. It does take more than half way into the novel to get an understanding to what exactly is happening, who the major players are, and what the final plot is before you really gain an understanding to all of it. The author does a great job at including a reference at the beginning because there are so many characters it is easy to get them mixed up. This is one of those novels you have to read without being interrupted because there is something going on all the time, you wouldn't want to lose your place. In my opinion this one rates a 4 out of 5 stars. There is a sequel coming, Wrestling with Shadows coming out soon, hopefully. All in all a great premise to build a story of spiritual warfare on and one I look forward to continuing.

The Seers
Debut Novel Reveals a Whole New World of Good & Evil
Welcome to a new world where science and spirituality are not separate, but rather opposite ends of a spectrum. Creator M.D. Kackowski attempts to shed light on the unseen laws of the universe for the betterment of society, by launching a fantastical, page-turning thriller.
The Seers illustrates a world where good battles evil for the world’s soul. The fate of humanity rests in the hands of the seers, a handful of humans with therare ability to see the unseen and who call into action their angels to do battle with demons. It is a fast-paced story that blends two classic genres: part apocalypse and part detective story. The book climaxes with a surprising and shocking chain of events that readers are bound to applaud.
Readers are provided with a multi-medium experience that leaves them with an exciting and captive narrative that continues on with an interactive digital component. It introduces and submerges the user (reader) into a whole new world, providing a boundless fictional platform that is ripe for full exploration. With QR codes, illustrations and video links sprinkled throughout the book, the reader truly gets to engage and interact with the creative content.
“The Seers is the culmination of more than a decade of writing, researching, and experimenting,” says Kackowski. “My book explores a whole new dimension that unifies the physical and spiritual worlds while a war is waged that could alter the destiny of not only humankind but the universe.”
His debut novel explores a number of interesting themes, including:
- Are there unseen worlds, where activities in such worlds can influence or impact our world?
- Is the war of good vs. evil or angel vs. demon is being waged now?
- What does one do – and what should one do – with a powerful ability?
- What do you do once confronted with your past and discover who you really are?
It also raises many questions, including:
- Are there really such things as diseased souls, and if so, how does one heal his or her soul?
- Is there really a set of cosmic laws that can be harnessed to serve one’s desires?
- How do you know what is real, what is a dream, what is a memory – or a vision from another dimension?
- What would you do if the devil tempted you with unimaginable powers, longevity, and riches?
- Are biblical references to demons and angels true?
- Can you have faith during a time of darkness, anger and frustration?
- What would you do if you are pulled into different worlds without warning or full knowledge?
Woven into the story are bits of philosophical commentary on how humans lead their lives and the emotions and activities that deeply challenge our ability to live a long, healthy, and happy life. The book also shares insights on the soul’s detractors – jealousy, greed, anger, hatred, arrogance, sloth, gluttony, impatience, narcissism, fear, lust, and indifference.
My Review:
The Seers by M.D. Kaczkowski is a remarkable book unlike any other I have had the opportunity to read in my 4 years of reviewing books and I can definitely see this is where future books may be headed. This takes the story of spiritual warfare and solving the crime of who is killing homeless people in New York to an incredible climax. The QR codes appear at the end of almost every single chapter. At the beginning it was a bit frustrating to understand what they were intended to be used for and kind of took me away from the story. However, looking back, I found it provided visual references for readers who may not understand what references were being made in the chapter such as a video of what life was like for a child growing up in New York in the 1950's where the story begins.
It revolves around a detective John Scarcepho who growing up was able to see into the spiritual world and often awoke to seeing a large spiritual being in his room. Being too young to understand what he was dealing with, his father thought he would beat it out of him while his mother, cared for him and kept reading to him from the Bible. At one point when Johnny is 13, he fears that the beatings will continue until he informs his spiritual being to leave him alone and never come back.
Now as a he has gotten older he can't seem to understand what the significance is to waking up each morning at 4:10 AM and why there are so many murders of homeless men happening in New York. Each of the victims is left with their eyes removed and a page from Revelations 20 stuffed in the victims mouth. It's when the mayor insists that John take the lead in the latest victim, Father Mahoney, that John will be reminded that what he saw as a child will be necessary to save the world. He learns that he is a Seer, a person who has the ability to "see" into the spiritual world and has been assigned a guardian angel since he was born. If John dies than the future of the world will be turned completely upside down and the final chapter of the Bible may in fact not come true at all.
This is a compelling novel and one I completely enjoyed. The music links, video references, and handbook definitions made me feel a part of the story and I believe that is the writers purpose in including them as part of the book. It really made this feel like part book and part movie by the time I was finished and I hope that he will write more in this series and style of book.
I received The Seers by M.D. Kaczkowski compliments of Media Connect for my honest review and received no monetary compensation for a favorable review. I honestly LOVED this interactive novel and couldn't wait to pass this one along to a friend who I knew would love this virtual novel experience in spiritual warfare and really makes you consider the questions above in regards to the spirit world. I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars and hope this is the first of many novels to come that introduce science with technology to take book reading to a completely whole new experience for the reader.

Demon: A Memoir
If you're like me, you've probably read the creation account of the Bible quite a few times as well as the story of the life and testimony of Jesus Christ. When I had the opportunity to read, Demon: A Memoir by Tosca Lee I was completely blown away by the author's ability to enhance what I've read time and time again with new clarity. Mind you she doesn't take away anything from the Bible, but merely increases the reader's knowledge about why there is such a hatred from demons towards human beings in general.
In this novel, the reader is given the opportunity to witness an interaction between an editor for Brooks and Hanover named Clayton and what he considers as a random encounter with a well-dressed man who goes by the name of Lucian. What Clay soon discovers is that Lucien isn't all that he appears to be, and begins to tell him things about his life that only Clay would know. Thinking Lucien has been spying on him, he gets visibly upset and its then that Lucien reveals that he is a demon who wants Clay to publish a memoir of sorts based on the conversations he has with him.
Of course at first, Clay doesn't believe this is really happening until an unexpected meeting appears on his calendar at work with the name of the client as simply "L." When Clay arrives at the library he encounters a beautiful woman he is immediately attracted to. However when the woman speaks to him, Clay soon realizes that Lucien can take on the shape and likeness of anyone he chooses while having these random meetings with Clay. Over the time he spends with Lucien, he learns about the history of angels and their relationship with God before the fall, as well as what happened when Lucifer and the third of the angels fell from heaven. He is the witness to the creation of the world, the garden of Eden, the testing of Job as well as the life, testimony and crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
Along the way, he gives Clay insights on why they rose up against God, how they viewed their own status against human kind, what they really thought of Earth, the creation of Adam and the new relationship with God. He paints the picture for Clay that illustrates just why things have gotten so out of hand in the world and what role demons play in their influence here on Earth with humans. It truly does paint a different picture seeing it through the eyes of a fallen angel who was once in a very intimate relationship with God, and then suddenly found themselves perpetually damned with no hope of redemption, while man on the other hand, could make mistake after mistake and God works to restore that relationship even to the point of dying to restore the covenant of everlasting life for those that believe and have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
I received no compensation to review this book or to provide a review other than my own honest opinion and I purchased a copy for my Kindle on my own. After reading Iscariot, also by Tosca Lee, I was completely blown away by her uncanny ability to delve into such historical biblical research and create an impression of what we might all be missing. For me, this just solidified some of the answers to those time honored questions we all find ourselves asking like, "Why do bad things happen to good people?" "If God, really is a God of love, why does He allow things to happen when He could easily prevent them? Like I stated, earlier, she doesn't change what the Bible has to say but merely gives us a more in depth look at why things are the way they are, and truly how wonderful the gift of salvation really is. It is one I will never take for granted again. This one rates a 5 out of 5 stars and I can't wait to get started on Havah next!!!

The Delusion - Review and Giveaway
It doesn't matter whether you want to be in a spiritual battle or not - you are in one. The battle is between good and evil, and you are the prize. ~ Charles Stanley
"By March of my senior year, eleven students at my high school had committed suicide. What a sickening realization it was to discover their deaths had been provoked. I could see what was tormenting and inciting them, but it didn't matter. I was hard pressed to get anyone to believe me.
I realize you likely won't believe me either. Admittedly, my story is twisted an bizarre and nearly impossible to accept. Still, I'm holding out hope that, in the end, you'll turn out to be one of the rare ones - one of a small minority willing to venture beyond the five senses to see what is almost always completely and intentionally unseen.
It all began on what I assumed would be a typical Monday." (pg 1).
In the debut novel Delusion by Laura Gallier, she introduces us to what could be any high school senior, Owen Edmonds. While walking through Franklin Park one afternoon with his girlfriend, Jess, they happen upon an buried underground water source. Not knowing where it came from or where it ends, Jess, has Owen scoop up some of the liquid in a water bottle. When they bring it back up from the ground, it appears like normal water. However under the ground it glows with a phosphorous light and appears warm. When Jess threatens to drink it, Owen does one better and drinks it instead. What happens after that will change life for Owen forever.
After becoming violently ill, Owen gains a rare glimpse into the spiritual world. At first he doesn't believe what he is experiencing because he isn't the type to believe in things like God and demons. Yet when he sees demonic beings he calls Creepers and shackles around 90% of the people he encounters, he believes he has completely lost his mind. His mother has them around her neck and their are labeled, braided cords coming from the back of her head with things like humiliation, shame, guilt and more. Owen is used to seeing his mom drunk and now things have been taken to a whole new level. The more people he attempts to tell, the more people think he has lost his mind. The school believes that Owen is just one of the many students in the school that could be having suicidal thoughts and offers him counseling. How can he convince people that what he can see is real even though no one else can?
Owen does have hope when he sees what he calls Warriors, angelic-like beings that show up just when Creepers are about to intervene in the life of a girl called Misty who is having suicidal thoughts. However no matter how much Owen tries to communicate with them, they seem to ignore him. Not all the students at Lincoln Forest High School are chained and shackled, there are some that admit a glowing light that seems to repel the Creepers. Owen is more than fascinated by their power and their ability that not everyone seems to have. He feels that they are the answer to what is happening at his high school and he has to find out before anyone else dies.
I received The Delusion by Laura Gallier compliments of AdminiSmith, The Publishing Navigator and the author for my honest review. I've been addicted to Christian Speculative Fiction for many years now and was honored and excited to have the opportunity to read and review this one. Speculative Fiction is now the new label assigned to what some would consider Christian Horror and this one is right in that category. In fact once I started this book, I literally could not put it down. I was carrying with me wherever I was going through my day. I made the mistake of reading this one late at night as we had a huge rain and windstorm. Not a great idea. I scared myself with all the noises that were happening outside and the fact I was reading this book. Yet to me, that's the sign of a terrific novel.
Laura takes the reader right into the spiritual world that remains unseen for most. Only a few have had the opportunity to gain insight and what Owen sees would literally make any of us think we are crazy. Not only does he see angels and demons but he can see how people are used by the enemy. I think this line from the book captures the essence perfectly,
"Think about it. To destroy an opponent, what better strategy is there than to go stealth? Do your most damaging work under the cloak of invisibility? And even if some cursed soul like me happens to discover what's really going on, the truth is so outlandish and farfetched no one would believe it. My stories sounded more like the plot of a bestselling fiction than a real life dilemma. And I was sure that was exactly the way they wanted it." (pg 93).
"I mentally debated which was worse, to see wickedness at work or not see it at all? Both felt like a death sentence" (pg 104).
If you are fans of books dealing with spiritual warfare like Frank Peretti or Ted Dekker, you might just want to pick up a copy of this amazing book. I personally give this one a 5 out of 5 stars! Be forewarned however, I wouldn't recommend reading it late at night, not only will it keep you up all night wanting to see what happens next but it just might make you wonder what is in the world we can not see right around us. This book is perfect for opening up those conversations with non believers!!!

Angel Eyes
Just how far would you go for the ones that you love? Would you be willing to lay down your life for theirs? How about if you just met? How long would it take and just what is the value of a life?
Brielle Matthews is about to find out when she returns home after the death of her best friend, Ali and the ongoing investigation into her death in which Brielle feels personally responsible for. She feels this is a death she could have prevented. She had seen the signs, the fear, the long-moments in between visits and phone calls and of course the bruises all over her body. Not to mention the fact that her new boyfriend, Marco seemed to like to keep her all for himself lately. Now it's too late but how can Brielle expect to find a way to move forward in her life when fear and despair are keeping her captive.
Jake is the new kid in school this year and Brielle finds every single girl in school wants to meet him. Fortunately she has him in two of her classes and he seems to have a special interest in Brielle. Maybe it's that smoldering look in his eyes or perhaps it the incredible heat that comes off him whenever they are near one another especially in the middle of winter and somehow she is drawn to him in a way she can't explain. She soon finds herself confiding in him with her issues and spends her free time getting to know him. It turns out he is an only child and is being raised by his guardian, Canaan after a tragic childhood himself. It seems that Jake and Brielle are destined to be together and soon he will tell her just why he has come into her life.
In the darkness, evil waits in the town of Stratus, Oregon. An evil that wants nothing more than to control and rule, but since humans are hard to find with special gifts, Damien searches for a way to satisfy his hunger. When he learns that Jake has the gift of healing, he soon plots for a way to kidnap him and lure him away from God and into what he has been planning. Only his guardian angel stands guard to protect him at all costs and soon the battle lines will be drawn and both human and angels will be called to war.
In the debut novel, Angel Eyes, by Shannon Dittmore, the reader is immersed in the story of two different worlds, one seen and one not seen. The world of humans and how angels and demons can work between them. In this story we are given a rare glimpse into the roles angels play in the lives of Brielle and Jake and how the demons will stop at nothing to kill either of them. What purpose Jake and Brielle have in coming together is explained in this wonderful new series that enables them to use a special gift from God to help battle against the enemy. For those of you that love This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness, then I know you will love this new series of books.
I received Angel Eyes by Shannon Dittmore compliments of Litfuse Publicity for my honest review and can't wait to read the sequel Broken Wings coming out soon. I love stories that combine spiritual warfare in the unseen world parallel with our own human world and this one does an outstanding job at drawing the reader in. This is both a love story and an action adventure from a Christian perspective. The writing is astounding, poetic and lyrical in how she describes the unseen world from God's eyes. I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars and now have another new favorite Christian author whose writing speaks to my parched soul.

The Soul Saver
Temptation exists all around us. Waiting in the shadows and in the dark to lead us astray if we are willing to open ourselves up to it. That is just what The Soul Saver by Dineen Miller is all about.
Hugh Baltimore has been striving for the very best life has to offer for the last seven years at the Stanford University where he is working on his tenure. After the loss of his daughter, Mandy, he has found solace and peace in the answers science can offer him. Whereas, his wife Lexie has clung to her faith in God to help her move forward in her life with Hugh and their remaining child, eight-year-old Jeremy. This has created a huge divide in their marriage and as long as Lexie keeps her faith to herself and stops trying to win Hugh over to God, maybe they can agree to disagree with where their futures are headed.
By it's Hugh's soul that is the ultimate prize and one that Tobias wants. He has made a pact with the former pastor of Freedom Church, Nate Winslow that he will save his daughter Sam, a recent heart recipient if he will help him in his evil plans. Knowing that God didn't help him save his wife in the accident that almost claimed Sam, he was willing to do whatever it took to ensure that he didn't lose Sam as well.
Lexie Baltimore has an extraordinaire gift from God. It's a vision he has given her to sculpt a bust of whomever he wants Lexie on a mission. Whenever she sculpts their face, Lexie knows that God will place that person in her path and she will listen to whatever promptings God places on her heart to intervene and right now that person is Nate Winslow.

I received The Soul Saver by Dineen Miller compliments of Christian Fiction Blog Alliance for my honest review and LOVED it. This is a very different look at how temptation can affect the believer and the unbeliever alike in the most astonishing ways imaginable. Let us never forget how truly real this can be in our daily battles with the enemy. Spiritual warfare is an ongoing battle and the souls that God wants to save may be the very ones we are the closest to! I highly recommend this book and rate it a 5 out of 5 stars. This truly shows us just how powerful our God is, and how effective our spiritual armor and prayer can be in winning wars.

Angel in The Ice

The difference between vampires and angels? Angels are real!
I know the invisible world that is all around us. My name is Megan Laughlin. I live in Clearwater, Florida. I'm fifteen, and I see angels. Megan has a unique ability, she can see angels and demons. She's been at war with one in particular while attending high school and that is Damon Vincent Lawless, according to the name that is on the school records, but everyone is school knows him by the name Jude or Judas.
It seems like Judas' goal is to attack and kill those closest to Megan. He almost claimed the life of her younger brother Max and her boyfriend Seth. But Megan made a deal with Judas. She gave him her life and would pretend to be his girlfriend, if he promised not to kill Seth or Max. For now, Judas is buying his time until he can twist that negotiation into something more than Megan could ever imagine.
In Angel in the Ice, the third book in the Angel Series by Lisa Grace, Megan and most of her friends are heading to a Blowing Rock, a lodge in the mountains that offers some great skiing and snowboarding, but with Judas geared to go, it will be anything but fun. Judas' mission is to find and locate souls that haven't given themselves up to God yet and take their lives. Armed with a legion of demon waiting his word, Judas plans to keep Megan and her demon hunters busy this time. Knowing he can vanish as will and walk through walls, Megan knows it's impossible to keep an eye on him every minute they are at the lodge.
With only a few of her friends who know who Judas is and what Megan's abilities are, they vow to work together along with an angel named Johnny to keep Judas' evil plans from becoming a reality. But with a blizzard of the century set to keep the resort isolated, it's only a matter of time before evil is unleashed in snow and ice. Will Megan be able to keep her friends alive or will the pact that she made with Judas be her undoing in the final hours on the mountain?
I received Angel in the Ice compliments of Lisa Grace for my honest review. I was super excited to read this one and know that many of my readers have enjoyed this Christian alternative to stories like Twilight or Harry Potter. Now with the first two books Angel in the Shadows and Angel in the Storm being made into a movie, this third picks up the heart-stopping action once again. Our favorite characters we've come to enjoy are back in this continuing sequel with more thrills and spiritual warfare at it's finest.
What I've come to enjoy most about Lisa's books is that they are almost the equivalent to Frank Peretti's Piercing the Darkness and This Present Darkness series of books for young adults. The reader is brought face to face with the spiritual realm of angels and demons in this book and we get to see just how faith in God and prayer works to impede the enemies plans for evil. The book also introduces the readers to just how innocently we may open ourselves up to the presence of evil that exists in the world today, even though society for the most part would deny that it does indeed exist.
I am honored to review this series and for those of you looking for a fantastic series that will engage you from the beginning to the very end, this is a MUST READ for you! For those of you that have been waiting like I have on pins and needles for this sequel, it's available on eBooks right now, with two more to follow. This one easily rates a 5 out of 5 stars in my personal opinion and hope that everyone picks this one up!

Angel in the Storm - Book 2

A life hangs in the balance and the choice is put on table for Megan and her alone to choose. It seems that her soul is worth the challenge of Damon and it's the ultimate prize for him to win. This time the lives of those she loves will be placed at risk to see how far in her faith she is willing to go.
Her younger brother Max, hasn't yet made the decision to commit his life to Christ. Still not sure what he really believes, he has gone along with things like prayer because he's seen his parents do it. Yet when he prays he isn't sure that there is a God that can answer them. Now Max is missing from his family as Damon has sold him to a pedophile who can hurt him since God will not allow Damon to touch him.
Max realizes what is going on when he awakens after being drugged by Damon at a baseball game. He knows from talking to a young boy named Zero that his very life is in danger and he has to escape. Seeing opportunity above his head, he takes the mattress and climbs to the window, breaks it and escapes. Now he is running for not only his very life but for his soul as well.
Megan hasn't given up her search to find Max after the police believe she knows where he is. Not willing to tell the police she can see into the spiritual world and can see angels and demons, her best bet in clearing her name is to find Max before they find her. Working with her boyfriend Seth and friends, Vania, Robbie, Sam and an angel named Johnny, they set out for New Orleans to find Max.
Their only problem is that this world belongs to the enemy and he has eyes everywhere from the animals that crawl on the earth to the unsaved souls that walk the street and Damon will use whatever it takes to get to Megan before the hurricane arrives. Will Megan be able to find Max in time or will see be out to the ultimate test and choose her life to save another?
In Angel in the Storm, Book 2 in the Angel series by Lisa Grace, we pick up exactly where book 1, Angel in the Shadows leaves off. Max has been taken by Damon and the race is on to find him. Once more Megan's faith will be put to the ultimate test to see how far she is willing to go to save her friends and family. I believe the book is real in the sense that sometimes we don't always make the right choice but sometimes they seem right at the time. Megan's character is believable and shows that not all of her decisions are easy to make and some will have a lasting consequence.
The book also highlights God's role for angels in our lives and how our prayers may or may not affect how they can intervene and just how strong our faith needs to be in the one who created us not in the things he created. I think Lisa did a great job in the continuity of the sequel and once more finished it too soon. Now I have to wait til the fall to pick up book 3, Angel in the Ice. Can't wait to see how that one goes.
I received this eBook compliments of Lisa Grace for my honest review and once again can give it no less than 5 out of 5 stars. For those of you looking for the next great series to get excited about since Harry Potter and Twilight are over, you'll want to make sure you get hooked on this one. My recommendation is to read book 1 first to get completely addicted and the best part is you can head on over to Amazon and pick it up on the Kindle for only $ .99.
