Ever since returning from her rumschpringe pregnant and unwed, Becky Troyer has been a pariah in her Amish community. Even after she confesses her sin and rejoins the church, her peers continue to shun her. A distraught Becky wonders if she will ever marry for love.
Becky's world changes, however, when the handsome Jacob Miller arrives at her family's farm. The assumption is that he's thee to help with chores during the summer, and then he'll return to Pennsylvania. But Jacob's father actually sent him away to introduce new blood into the Amish community of Seymour, as well as to distance him from his sweetheart, Susie.
As their friendship deepens, the two find themselves inexplicably drawn to each other. Can Jacob cheer up the lovely yet listless Becky by offering her the only unconditional friendship she's ever known? Or will he honor his pledge to Susie and turn his back on Becky, as others have done in the past?
In the Amish novel, Patchwork Dreams by Laura V. Hilton, the readers are taken for a journey into the broken life of Becky Troyer who believes that due to her irresponsibility during her rumschpringe that left her with a child to care for, she will never marry. She will wind up a spinster forever living with her parents no matter how many suitors the town brings in.
Jacob struggles with the decision of remaining true to his love for Susie, a girl that is waiting for him back in Pennsylvania, and finding his heart pulled in the direction of unconditional love for Becky. Believing he will find a way to remove her grayness from her days and return her smile and laughter again, he makes it his mission to do just that before he leaves. Only every day he spends with Becky brings him one step closer to falling in love with her and falling out of love with Susie.

I started reading novels about the Amish when I was a cataloger at a public library. Every one that I read was so good. Your review makes me think this will be just as good as the others I've read.
