Rafe Kincaid controls everything in his life...until he meets Julia.
Julia Gilliland has always been interested in the natural world around her. She particularly enjoys studying the fossils and formations in the magnificent cave near her father's house. The cave seems plenty safe - until the day a mysterious intruder steals the rope she uses to climb out.
Rafe Kincaid is a man used to being in control - of himself, his brothers, and his family's ranch. The last thing he expects is to find a woman trapped in the cavern on his land - or to be forced to kiss her!
Rafe is more intrigued by Julia than any woman he's ever known. But when their developing relationship threatens a reconciliation with his brothers, will Rae have to choose between his family and this new love that could heal his troubled heart and secure his happiness?
In the latest novel by Mary Connealy, Out of Control is the first book in the Kincaid Brides series. Written during the late 1800's in the Colorado Territory, we get our first glimpse into the lives of Rafe and Julia. Both head strong and determined to get what they want out of life, they will both be haunted by their pasts that will either bring them together or tear them apart.
Julia's burden is now carrying for her stepmother, Audra who is expecting her second child any day while still carrying for Maggie, who is still a baby herself. When Julia learns that the life she has been living under the care of her father has been one big lie after another, she finds that her own freedom will be exploring the caverns and caves around the cabin.
Rafe Kincaid, is still being haunted by the ghosts that dwell in the cave on their property that almost claimed his life but also the lives of his brothers. Torn between trying to move forward and healing what remains of his family, he suddenly finds himself drawn back into the cave, not only to challenge his fears but to save a woman who could also save him in return.
I received this book compliments of Christian Fiction Blog Alliance for my honest review and loved the strong willed character of Julia. Even when she finds herself abandoned in a dark cave, she still is willing to go back and explore every inch of it looking for what she desires most, recognition. Her father didn't provide it growing up and it seems certain Rafe doesn't love her enough to marry her, so she is determined to make a name for herself. Being a huge fan of historical western romances, I couldn't wait to immerse myself in this one and was not disappointed. Now I can't wait for book two to come out and once more find myself lost in the west of the 1800's. Hands down a 5 out of 5 stars.

ABOUT THE BOOK
Julia Gilliland has always been interested in the natural world around her. She particularly enjoys her outings to the cavern near her father's homestead, where she explores for fossils and formations, and plans to write a book about her discoveries. The cave seems plenty safe--until the day a mysterious intruder steals the rope she uses to find her way out.
Rafe Kincaid has spent years keeping his family's cattle ranch going, all without help from his two younger brothers, who fled the ranch--and Rafe's controlling ways--as soon as they were able. He's haunted by one terrible day at the cave on a far-flung corner of the Kincaid property, a day that changed his life forever. Ready to put the past behind him, he plans to visit the cave one final time. He sure doesn't expect to find a young woman trapped in one of the tunnels--or to be forced to kiss her!
Rafe is more intrigued by Julia than any woman he's ever known, but how can he overlook her fascination with the cave he despises? And when his developing relationship with Julia threatens his chance at reconciliation with his brothers, will he be forced to choose between the family bonds that could restore his trust and the love that could heal his heart?
