Brandenburg

If you're looking for a great book that is almost guaranteed to keep you quite literally on the edge of your seat until you turn the final pages, then this is the perfect book for you. Inspired by a story the author learned about while researching a newspaper article for the Times,, he stumbled across a story told to him by an elderly former SS man who shared a wartime story.

Using the historical timeline in dealing with Nazi Germany under Hitler's command, the storyline tells what might have happened if Hitler has a secret that he would stop at nothing to protect. What if he had his own niece killed in order to hide the fact that she had fathered a child by him, a child who survived and might still be living today. This is just the premise behind author Glenn Meade's second novel, Brandenburg. This novel will take you all over the world as the story continues to unravel and the secrets are being exposed to the light. This novel will take you into the neo-Nazis in Berlin today that continue to boast about their violence, their hatred of immigrants and their denial of the Holocaust as well as looking back into history seventy years ago to see how far some went to try to cover up what they didn't want others to know and why.

Joseph Volkman and his journalist cousin, Erica Kranz are about to plunge into a world of terrorism, fanaticism, and deception as they stare at the true face of evil while unraveling the political plots happening in Paraquay and Berlin. It's hard for them to realize the Nazi's biding time in South America to hatch a viable plot to take over contemporary Germany and just what the link to the past has to do with their investigation now. This one will leave you in anticipation to see just how far this will go and have you rethinking current world events today. By the end, you are hoping for a sequel some time in the very near future by author Glenn Meade.

I received Brandenburg by Glenn Meade compliments of Howard Books, a division of Simon and Schuster Publishers for my honest review and received no monetary compensation for a favorable one. This is my second novel by Glenn Meade and being a huge lover of history, I couldn't wait to see how he would unravel this one. I was not disappointed. Part action adventure, part historical fiction laced through and through with pure adrenaline and suspense, I had to keep going until I was done. I loved the blending of timelines from World War II to present day, it gives the reader time to pause and consider the implications of such a thing happening again. There is a discussion guide in the back that makes this one a perfect novel for book clubs as well as the authors insights into writing this novel. You can even get a sneak peek at Second Messiah, his previous novel if you haven't read that one yet. I rate this one a 4.5 out of 5 stars and will be looking forward to more by Glenn Meade in the very near future.
