"Dear Amy,
You might want to take a trip to Hope Beach. There is more to Ben's death than you realize. Your brother had secrets - secrets that led to his death. Hypocrisy is one of the worst sins a man can commit. I hate to say it, but he deserved what happened to him.
From A Friend"
Now Amy Lang finds herself back in the Outer Banks that her and her brother Ben spent so many summers surfing and staying at Rosemary Cottage. Where others have simply ruled her brother's death as a surfing accident, after receiving this cryptic email, Amy believes that there is simply more to it than people are willing to look into. Even her own parents won't support her decision to investigate his death and while she hopes to move her midwife practice to Rosemary Cottage, she hopes in time she can finally put the pieces of her brother's death to rest once and for all.
Curtis Ireland has something in common with Amy Lang. Not only does he find himself attracted to her, but his sister was tragically killed just two short weeks before Amy's brother Ben. The person who ran her over while swimming in a boat has never been found, nor has the boat ever been recovered. All that is left behind besides memories of his sister, Gina, is the baby daughter, Raine, she left to Curtis as legal guardian. He just can't come to terms with the secret he's hiding from Amy and needs to find a way to tell her before she uncovers it on her own while investigating her brothers death.
In the latest novel in A Hope Beach Novel Series from author Colleen Coble, Rosemary Cottage takes us back into the heart of the residents we met in the novel Tidewater Inn. This is a compelling look at how far some people are willing to go to keep their secrets from being discovered even if it means putting others at risk. It seems no matter how truthful that Amy and Curtis want to be, they often times put the feelings of others before there own and will risk their own personal happiness for the sake of keeping things from being said. I guess it's about finding the right time in which to have that honest conversation that needs to be said even if it means that the other person might not be as receptive as you would like. Often times people are defensive without meaning to be just for the sake of avoiding dealing with the truth like both Amy and Curtis have to face, both in their own lives and in the lives of the ones they thought they knew.
I received Rosemary Cottage by Colleen Coble compliments of Litfuse Publicity and Thomas Nelson Publishers for my honest review. I received no monetary compensation for a favorable review. I love that this one picked up right where Tidewater Inn left off and offered a different look into the residents of Hope Island. I found myself wishing I was sitting on the porch overlooking the ocean while reading this one and could even smell the salty air. This was a wonderful mix of both suspense and romance coupled together that you were fighting along with Amy and Curtis to resolve their pasts and move forward in their relationship with one another. I love that feeling of electricity that happens between characters that are destined to be together but fight the attraction even though it's a losing battle no matter what the odds are. This one wins a 4.5 out of 5 stars for me and I can't wait for the next novel in this series. There is even a discussion guide included along with an excerpt of the novel Without A Trace.
