Vigilante

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

Nolan Gray knows just how hard this world can be, the evil that dwells in the hearts of men that are corrupted by greed and pride. Spending much of his life not only serving in the armed forces as a trained specialist in every type of training he could get his hands on, now he seeks to fulfill a promise he made to himself. To rid the world of evil men and change the hearts of the citizens of the world from the inside out. He had to give them what had provoked them into fear and that would be hope. Hope in a better way. Hope that things could be better. If perhaps he could lead by example, then the rest would follow.

Finding that his death would allow him the secrecy he so desired, he teams up with his ex-captain from the military and a technology genius and begins to take back the streets of New York from the criminals and drug loads that roam free. Corruption, blackmail, bribes, extortion, prostitution, and weapons sales have made evil men rich, but one by one, Nolan Gray will use all of his tools to take back the streets and restore law, order and justice by becoming a vigilante.

In the novel, Vigilante by Robin Parrish, we get to have a sense of vengeance at seeking to right all the wrongs in this world through the eyes of one man, Nolan Gray, a decorated war veteran that seeks to use peaceful alternatives to take back the streets of his own city. Armed with high-tech weapons this book is a perfect blend of The Punisher meets Mission Impossible on a highly adrenaline pumping suspense thriller from the very first page.

I received this book compliments of Christian Fiction Blog Alliance for my honest review and LOVED this book. It had me rooting for Nolan every step of the way. Unlike all the other action adventures we have grown accustomed to seeing on the big screen, this one is believable and his cause is morally sound. At times his tragic war experiences come back to haunt him and show the character of Nolan Gray is not at all without his faults. It's his faith in God that will restore his turbulent soul and restore hope once more for good in the hearts of men. This one rates a heart stopping 5 out of 5 stars. Available at your local retailer in paperback and eBook formats.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Robin Parrish wants to take you on a ride.

A wild ride -- which is exactly what you're in for when you pick up one of his books. And he's adamant that it will never be the same kind of experience twice.

Robin's stories mix, mingle, and meld various genres together to create thoroughly original suspense/thrillers. His Dominion Trilogy, for example, mashed up superhero action, secret societies, ancient myths, and an apocalyptic setting to create an entirely new take on the classic "hero's journey." Offworld mixed science fiction and an end-of-the-world scenario with high-octane action. Nightmare, his 2010 novel, is a spine-tingling examination of the world of the paranormal, paired with can't-put-it-down mystery. His 2011 novel, Vigilante, is an action-packed story about a soldier who sets out to change the world. Later this year, he's releasing his first ever Young Adult novel, titled Corridor.

Always pushing the envelope, ever on the edge of where modern storytelling is going, Robin Parrish will gladly and unapologetically tell you that he's an entertainer, a weaver of stories that ignite the mind and delight the heart. Defying labels and refusing pigeonholes, his imagination is fueled by the possibilities of asking "What if…?", and as anyone who's read his work knows, he has a very big imagination.

His influences as a novelist range from television and film storytellers like Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams, to masters of the modern myth like J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. Akin to Philip K. Dick's search for the meaning of identity, most of what Robin writes about boils down to his own ponderings and examinations of just what this thing we call "existence" is.

Robin is a full time writer. He and his wife Karen and two children live in High Point, NC.

"Robin Parrish is a keen-eyed, passionate pop cultural savant,

whose writing is as incisive and insightful as it is entertaining."

- Allan Heinberg, Executive Producer, Grey's Anatomy

The wicked have had their day. Morality's time has come. In a culture starving for a hero, can one extraordinary man make things right?

Nightmare

My Review:

Maia Peters is the daughter of one of the most famous "ghost hunter" parents spending time with them searching for evidence of the existence of ghosts. When Maia attends the opening of the Haunted House attraction in Ghost Town, the hottest amusement park in the country, she isn't about to be swayed by Hollywood special effects. When Maia and her two closest friends encounter the living room within the attraction, Maia suddenly realizes that the mist coming from the wall and the face of her friend Jordin Cole, goes beyond any special effects she has every scene. She is staring at a real ghost. Now she finds that Jordin has gone missing. Did the recent spiritual connection at the Haunted House, provide her with a clue to what has mysteriously happened to Jordin?

This book is really frightening and when I started it, it was light. Due to some of the details involved with ghost sightings within the pages, I knew I had to finish this one before dark. I wanted to review Nightmare by Robin Parrish because it's a Christian suspense thriller and let me tell you it does not disappoint. There are times where I found myself a bit scared and had to take a break but ultimately I honestly believe the author did an outstanding job of keeping this real. Whether or not, you truly believe in ghosts, this book does bring the supernatural spiritual realm into light and it's a book you don't want to miss. I would rate this book 10 out 10 being as good if not better than anything Stephen King has ever written. I'd love to see this one put into a movie! Actually when I was telling my teens about the book, both of them asked if it were a new movie coming out soon. Oh how I wish!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Robin Parrish is a journalist who's written about the intersection of faith and pop culture for more than a decade. Currently he serves as Senior Editor at XZOOSIA.com, a community portal that fuses social networking with magazine-style features about entertainment and culture.

He had two great ambitions in his life: to have a family, and to be a published novelist. In March of 2005, he proposed to his future wife the same week he signed his first book contract with Bethany House Publishers. They contracted him for the rights to The Dominion Trilogy: Relentless (2006), Fearless (2007), and Merciless (2008). His science fiction thriller, Offworld came out in 2009. This summer debuts Nightmare, and he's working on another for 2011. Robin and his wife and children live in North Carolina.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

The Nightmare is Coming...

Ghost Town is the hottest amusement park in the country, offering state-of-the-art chills and thrills involving the paranormal. The park's main ride is a haunted house that promises an encounter with a real ghost.

When Maia Peters visits during her senior year of college, she's not expecting to be impressed. Maia grew up as the only child of a pair of world-renowned "ghost hunters," so the paranormal is nothing new and to her most of the park is just Hollywood special effects. In fact, the ride feels pretty boring until the very end. There, a face appears from the mist. The face of Jordin Cole, a girl Maia knows who disappeared from campus a few months ago.

Convinced what she saw wasn't a hoax and desperate to find answers to Jordin's disappearance, Maia launches into a quest for answers. Joined by Jordin's boyfriend--a pastor's kid with very different ideas about paranormal and the spirit realm--Maia finds herself in a struggle against dangerous forces she never expected to confront on the edge of the spirit realm that try to keep the truth from emerging.
