Stay With Me - Giveaway and Review

"If I ever forget who I am,
bring me here and I'll remember"

Such a haunting premonition of things to come for the abandoned children who were found aboard an old boat, For Tuna when they were only 5 and younger.

Now David, Taina, Holly Adrian and Ray each have grown but managed to stay in contact with one another. Long ago, one night they were discovered with no parents beneath the hatch of an old boat. Dressed in fine clothes and unable to speak much, they were all put into foster care. The only strange thing uniting them was a hand drawn starfish on each of their left hands. Each of them still carries that reminder with them, all permanently tattoed on their hand in various shapes and sizes.

When David learns that he has a fatal brain cancer, he brings all his brothers and sisters together on Griswold Island, off the Connecticut coast. This is the home of his former ex-girlfriend, Julia, but also one whom David wants to marry. Each of them believe they are here to help David get his mind off of dying and spend some quality time with him.

Yet David has other ideas, beginning with the flashbacks he had when they discovered his brain tumor. Are the flashbacks merely part of his cancer attacking his brain or are they secrets of who they really are and how they arrived in Puerto Rico?

In the book, Stay With Me, by Sandra Rodriguez Barron, we are taken into the lives of each of the five children who are dealing with their own personal struggles of what happened to them. Each of them is attempting to push the past back and move forward with the present, but are unable to.

I received the book compliments of TLC Book Tours for my honest review, and have to say, this story really captivated my heart and took me for a ride. I love the struggle with David most of all, because of his cancer, he has nothing left to fear in uncovering the truth that brought them all together and discovering what happened to them those many years ago. I rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars!

  12. This sounds like a winner! Love that children stick kept together despite being separated. They know the true meaning of family. I am wondering what about the flashbacks, are they of the past?
