Double Blind

All Lisa Newberry has is her memories, even as painful as they are. It validates who she is, who she was and who she can be. First she miscarried three times, then she lost the love of her life, Ryan in a car accident, and later she was brutally attacked outside in a parking lot. Now her life is reduced to nothing more than simply waking up and trying to see it to the end. To say she was depressed was mild compared to how she was really feeling. Blackness, fear and anxiety now consume her.

Her only hope remains in the envelope and it's contents she holds within her hands. It's from a company called Cognoscenti and even though she believes it is what she so desperately needs, she will soon learn it will hold another quite different fate for her. She has filled out all the necessary paperwork required for this life-changing medical trial for victims of PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or suffering from severe depression that almost incapacitates its victims. Most of the subjects have been from brutally attacks or returning from the war and the trial promises to suppress the emotions of the events without altering the memories.

It's the one thing Lisa doesn't want to eliminate are the memories of those times but it's the debilitating emotions she can't seem to work past. Now if she is approved, she can undergo surgery to have an Empowerment Chip installed on her brain that has shown amazing results for those that receive the real thing. She won't know if she'll get the placebo or the real thing, but all she knows is for right now, something has to change. When she opens the envelope, she is surprised when she learns she's been accepted. But what will really happen when she decides to go through with this? Will she forget everything? Will she survive the surgery? What is nothing happens?

In the latest suspense thriller from Brandilyn Collins, Double Blind takes the readers into an interesting science fiction story line where a new medical trial promises the most amazing results to help it's subjects who receive the real thing. There have been no reported side effects and Lisa knows how life changing this could be for her, but what she doesn't realize is just how life changing it will really be. It may just be the worst decision she's ever made!

I received Double Blind compliments of B & H Publishers and Net Galley for my honest review and have to say, I was completely captivated by this one. I was spending so much time trying to figure out what was going on and who was behind it all, before I realized it, I had finished the book. Once again Brandilyn creates such a believable story that will hold the reader in the palm of her hands until the final page is turned. I easily rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars. I found myself constantly stopping and telling my family how amazing this story really is! Due out in book retailers in October of 2012!

Dying Memories

No one could have ever expected their daily lives would be changed in such a dramatic turn of events as they headed to work.

Gail Hawes looked like your average woman, dressed in a black and white checked coat, apparently waiting for someone looking a bit lost. She waited until she saw him and completely emptied her gun, seven times, into Kent Foster killing him in Post Office Square. When police arrived and took her into custody, all she could say was that she was glad he was dead. He finally got what he deserved. He apparently had raped and murdered her eleven-year old daughter Jenny. The odd thing was that Gail didn't have a daughter or any children for that matter.

Bill Conway had just received the tip of the century that would put his story on the front page of the Boston Tribune. He was the lead reporter working the Post Office Square shooting. Even his best friend, Jeremy Brent, who used to work at the Tribune, two years ago, was envious. However what he will uncover will be that there is no link between Gail and Kent Foster other than, she knew who he was and where he worked.

When mysterious, untraceable emails begin to show up addressed to Bill, they provide a clue to another unsolved killing between Trey Megeet and Tim Zhang, a MIT professor who supposedly murdered Trey's wife in a hit and run accident. Trey swore to police that he himself witnessed Tim Zhang behind the driver's wheel, however when questioned by police, Tim Zhang was attending a medical conference in California that day. He could not have committed the murder.

The only link that will tie the two together is ViGen Corporation. A company that is conducting research on the immunology. When Bill gets too close, he himself is about to find out that this is one story that someone does not want published.

In the latest sci-fi thriller, Dying Memories by Dave Zeltserman, the reader will not believe just how complex some people will go to test their experiments and what risks they are willing to take. This one held me captive from the first page and I couldn't put it down until I finished the final page. Highly recommended, explosive and action packed from beginning to end, I easily rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars. If you are looking for something a bit different in your suspense thrillers, then this is the book for you. This book is available as an eBook reader.

Toys

It's the year 2061 and two races of beings exist on Earth, the humans and the Elites. The humans have pretty much been responsible for the destruction of most of the species on the planet rendering animals and plants of various types extinct thanks to their stewardship. Now with the progression of technology in virtually every aspect of life, humans have devised a way to come up with a better version of humans now called Elites. Filled with nanotechnology, they are more powerful physically, more mentally equipped than a high speed computer, and also genetically a perfect being.

Now the Elites under the guiding hand of a master mind organization, the Elites are out to eliminate and destroy the humans they nickname skunks because of their lifestyle and the food they eat. They are now confined to the slums of cities while the Elites live in the very best life has to offer.

Here we meet Hays Baker and his perfect wife Lizbeth. They are living the life of luxury along with their two children Chloe and April in the comforts of the a high rise exclusive town home. They have a personal butler named Metallico who could clean, make the most amazing meals, fix the perfect drinks and care for the couples children.

When Hays meets with President Jacklin who praises all his work for what he calls the human clean up and has bigger plans in store that he wants Hays and Lizbeth to be the primary Elites to carry it out.

When an emergency call comes in from the Toyz Corporation, Hays is about to learn that Elites are being mass murdered and their organs removed. What he will learn will call into question everything he believes.

In the latest futuristic science fiction novel, Toys by James Patterson and Neil McMahon, we find ourselves in a blend of The Running Man meets iRobot. This is an amazing, heart-stopping, edge of your seat thrill ride on every single page, leaving your virtually breathless by the end. You will never look at technology the same way again.

I received this novel compliments of Hachette Book Groups and Little, Brown and Company for my honest review and if you enjoy futuristic, science fiction, crime, suspense stories, then you won't want to miss this one. Rates a perfect 5 out of 5 stars.
