Same Kind of Different As Me - FREE Movie Ticket Giveaway!

A simple act of kindness can change everything.

In the upcoming movie slated to hit theaters on October 20th, this is a movie you won't want to miss. Long gone are those "cheesy" Christian movies most of us have seen in the past, and this one will be one that will undoubtedly provoke a change in your own life if not in your own heart. Based on the New York Time's Best Selling book by the same name, this is a movie that will live in your heart long after the credits roll.

An all-star cast featuring Greg Kinnear, Renee Zellweger, Jon Voight and Djimon Hounsou, viewers are taken into the lives of Ron Hall (Greg Kinnear) who is an international art dealer that seems to be too busy for his wife, Deborah (Renee Zellweger) and that places a strain on their marriage. She spends her time, caring for the kids and house, managing things so life is easy for Ron, even managing to find time to volunteer at the inner city rescue mission where she meets Denver, a homeless man, she has dreams about. The Hall's literally have more money than they need, and what they need is some help with their troubled marriage. She feels that she must find a way to befriend this man because he holds the answers to her problem with Ron somehow.

As arguments grow more heated between Ron and Deborah, she learns of Ron's unfaithfulness she gives him the ultimatum to leave. She will only allow him to stay if he spends some time doing something other than taking care of himself and thus the challenge to help Denver out, even if it means the possibility of losing his status with the elite people in his life. If he can accomplish that task, Deborah will consider making a go of their marriage again, but perhaps more than just the marriage will be saved in the end. Denver's motto: "Nobody can help everybody, but everybody can help somebody" is the theme of this incredible movie.

Faith of Our Fathers - DVD Review and Giveaway

As Veteran's Day approaches, I can think of no greater tribute than to offer a great review and giveaway of the DVD Faith of Our Fathers from Pure Flix Entertainment and Flyby Promotions. My father and mother both served during the Vietnam War and theirs was not the story that was glorified and honored when they returned like those of the WW1 and WWII campaigns.

In Faith of Our Fathers conveys the story of two men Eddie and Steven who in 1969 find themselves fighting side by side in the Vietnam war, and soon become more than friends and partners, but true brothers in the war so to speak. As the war continues they both write to the sons, John Paul and Wayne they have in the states through a series of letters hoping their words might inspire and encourage their sons should they return from the war. However after a five day mission to retrieve fallen comrades, they both lose their lives.

Now twenty five years later, John Paul and Wayne meet as John Paul tries to find the man his father talked so valiantly about in hopes of learning more about his father, but when he comes across Wayne, he is nothing but a bitter alcoholic who doesn't want anything to do with the father he feels has abandoned him. Yet he holds the only key to John Paul understanding his own father, and he manages to convince Wayne to journey with him to the Vietnam Wall in Washington DC, as Wayne gives him letters from his own father for a price along the way. They two will understand more than they ever thought possible as the movie takes viewers back through a series of flashbacks to help understand the bond that their fathers shared and how it will forever change their own perspectives of who they believed their fathers were.

I received Faith of Our Fathers compliments of Pure Flix Entertainment and FlyBy Promotions for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions contained here are strictly my own personal ones. This DVD runs 96 minutes and contains special features such as, The Heart of Faith of our Fathers, Honoring Father's Day, Commemorating Memorial Day, Si Robertson Interview, and Stephen Baldwin Interview. Candace Cameron Bure, Rebecca St. James, Stephen Baldwin and Si Robertson star in this amazing movie. It parallels the story of fathers and sons, twenty five years apart, and shows how they are bound together forever which is such a worthy tribute to our veterans this Veteran's Day!

Old Fashioned DVD Movie Review

The movie Old Fashioned debuted in theaters during Valentine's day this year at the same time as Fifty Shades of Grey. Coincidence, I don't think so. They are polar opposites and Old Fashioned, it one movie that you will want everyone who is considering dating to watch. It outlines exactly the premise behind 1 Corinthians 13 about love. What it is and what it isn't.

After watching this even my 16-year-old daughter who is considering dating was floored and moved by the movie. I only wish I had watched it during my teens but then again it wasn't available at that time.

Clay Walsh is a former frat boy who has reconsidered the ways of his past and is seeking to start over in the way he views women but in how he handles himself when it comes to dating and even the roles men and women play in the world today. Clay has theories that he holds true to, one of them being that he is never alone with a woman inside a home or apartment. No ifs, ands or buts! He meets Amber Hewson who is looking to rent an apartment, just perfect because he has one for rent, directly above the Antiques Store he runs. She is someone who is running from her past as well, but not in the same regards as Clay is.

Amber only moves when she has enough money saved in the jar she keeps on top of her refrigerator, a sign that it is time to move on. Unfortunately for her, she didn't move quick enough with the last guy she was with who broke her wrist for wearing nail polish. As she and Clay come to an understanding of simply trying to be friends, they have to come to terms with a past neither of them wants to revisit but necessary if there is any hope for a future with the two. How it ends up will require a box of tissues but so worth it in the end.

I received Old Fashioned Movie compliments of Propeller LLC and Pure Flix for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions contained here are strictly my own. The current running time on this DVD is 115 minutes and is suitable for family members 13+ due to the nature of subject matter in the video. This is such an incredible movie to watch with your teens who are considering dating because it opens up a conversation about what it means to date and to wait for just the right person. Ideas of respect and how that is important between men and women is conveyed as well. It highlights the nature of chivalry in light of what the world is promoting today and how the natural progression of love is supposed to take place and how issues with our past in regards to dating and sex can impact our futures. Well worth every 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion.

This Is Our Time ~ DVD Review and Giveaway

Have you ever struggled with the prospect of what your life's purpose is? Why others around you seem to moving at an accelerated pace in the right direction, but it seems like God has all but forgot you in the process? Is it possible that God wants you right where you are at this particular moment even if it mean sitting on the bench or simply being a dishwasher or a stay at home mom?

Then I have the perfect movie for you that should help point you in the right direction or even be content with where you are at right now! Pure Flix presents This Is Our Time, a way to seize God's calling! Starring Erin Bethea (Fireproof) as Alè and her husband Luke (T.J. Dalrymple) who marry shortly after their graduation from college, and feel the calling of going to India as part of Embrace A Village ministry. This ministry cares for those afflicted with leprosy and their families. Their friends from college Catherine (Kate Cobb), an aspiring financier, who joins a prestigious financial institution determined to make an impact on corporate American; Ryder (Matthew Florida), who lands an impressive job in social media and can't wait to use the powerful medium for a greater good; and Ethan (Shawn-Caulin Young), seemingly the odd man out, who struggles to find his God-given purpose and feels sidelined by God.

"What they all come to learn is that it never really was their time, but always was, always is, God's time."

This movie is so powerful because there is a sense that we can all relate to a character in the movie. Even those that seem to have it all made, find themselves struggling with some of the business ethical choices in their jobs, so it's not always as green on the other side as some would see. I found myself relating to the character of Catherine because it sometimes means having to make hard choices in your job. I myself, found that leaving a job after ten years despite the prestige and salary that may it hard to give up, required me to simply walk away and never look back. At the time, the decision was a hard one and one I found myself questioning quite a bit during my first year, especially when my family just bought a new home and two incomes were almost required. However, I found with God's assurance, we were able to make it just fine and He paved the way in unpredictable ways, much like He does in all the characters in this movie. Sometimes we have to get to the end of the path before we can see clearly because the whole time we were simply too close to the situation.

I received This Is Our Time by Pure Flix Entertainment compliments of Flyby Promotions for my honest review and received no compensation for a favorable review. This movie really hit home with me as a stay at home mom for the last ten years now wondering if I was sacrificing what God wanted me to do for something bigger and more impactful. However, after watching this one, I am content with where God has placed me and until such a time that He asks me to move in another direction, I will do my best with what I can. A great family movie with a profound moral message. For those wondering where God's at in your life in any situation, this is the movie for you. I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars. Now comes the best part.
