Walker's Vale

In his debut novel, John J. Zelenski combines the elements of such seasoned suspense writers like Stephen King, Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti to unleash upon his readers a novel in which good faces off against evil in the spiritual realm. This is why these types of books and movies linger in our minds because deep inside us all we know that this exists but we try and pretend that it doesn't for our sakes.

Walker's Vale is the novel that combines a small family that moves to Walker's Vale, Pennsylvania looking for a fresh start and a slower pace at life, but they received more than they ever bargained for. James Cooper is looking to begin a new life and having more time for his autistic daughter, Liza while they fix up the home they just built down the road from the local church. They just didn't expect to find all kinds of unexplained things happening in their home before they truly got settled from the strange taped designs that appear on Liza's bedroom walls to the creepy Pastor that shows up unannounced with a warning for the family. Only then do the strange circumstances escalate that pits man's old adversary, pure evil against the very holiness of God and all for the battle of one little girl.

Picture all the elements you need to make this one work, small uninhabited home with an evil past, a meddling pastor, and the dark woods in a small town, sets the stage for a showdown in the heavenly realms that leads to definite hauntings in the Cooper household from Liza's glowing doll she doesn't want to leave behind, to things lying buried in the dark woods at the edge of the property. This is truly a spiritual warfare novel that will definitely leave you with a lasting impression. Warning: You may want to read this before dark or at least with the light on and someone with you.

I received Walker's Vale by John J. Zelenski compliments of the author for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation aside for a free copy of this novel and the opinions contained here are strictly my own. This is the second book by this author with The Journal of Ezekiel Walker written as a prequel to the pastor we meet in this novel. We get the back story in that one of what possess the pastor's passion to help the Cooper family even though they don't see it as that at first. I venture to say I read this one before the Journal of Ezekiel Walker and wish I would have read them in that order instead. My only complaint if you could call it that would be I wish it was so much longer. At 134 pages, I wanted triple that for this novel and hope, fingers crossed, that we will see another one soon by this author. I would rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars and literally inhaled it in one dark night. Won't make that mistake again!

The Journal of Ezekiel Walker

If you were to write a scary novel, I think there are certain elements that are a must have, creepy stranger from out of town, small town, lots of places for things to hide such as thick woods or forests. The last element is to have a story that makes the reader want to inhale the pages as fast as possible to uncover what is really going on and that has to enlist the talent of a great writer who can engage his readers within the first couple of pages. John Zelenski does all of the above in The Journal of Ezekiel Walker, the prequel to his book, Walker's Vale.

Couple this with the fact, he's a Christian author who doesn't spend time being preachy all the way through the book and you have the makings of an all around great suspense thriller, one that finds a permanent home in my wheelhouse. I guess that is why all those movies that deals with the supernatural and paranormal sticks with us longer than all those slasher films. Because I believe, we understand there is an element of the unseen that while we may necessarily see things, we know something else exists and in this case is all about evil and demons seeking to overtake the small quiet and remote town of Walker's Vale, Pennsylvania.

Ezekiel Walker has just returned from his Civilian Patrol Service Unit or CPS for short, which is an outfit that men who don't want a part in the war efforts based on their religious beliefs like the Amish or plain communities served their "enlistment." As Ezekiel returns home to father, who is the pastor at the church and his expectant mother. Everything seems perfect until a tall dark stranger enters the picture, Simon Tremblestone who offers his father the opportunity to help small churches like his that are struggling to make ends meet during WWII. Some say the offer is simply too good to be true, and even though his father agrees to pray about the matter, Mr. Tremblestone gives him a pouch of coins as a goodwill offering.

That's when things take an unexpected detour and Ezekiel finds himself transported to the spiritual realms when he is tasked by a band of angels for a future mission and receives a "seal" upon his hand. All the while as he struggles to find a way to talk to his parents about what is going on, the conversation between his father and Mr. Tremblestone is "sealed" as well when his father agrees to work with Mr. Tremblestone. Quite literally all hell breaks loose and the stage is set for more to follow in Walker's Vale.

I received The Journal of Ezekiel Walker from John J. Zelenski for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review aside from a free copy of this book, and the opinions contained here are strictly my own. I absolutely LOVED this book and would LOVE to see a more deeper novel in upwards to 300+ pages. This is just a small sampling of the talents possessed by Mr. Zelenski. Even though I felt a twinge of fear while reading this one late at night, I know where the battle was taking place. I think he did an exceptional job at his first attempts on this book and you can definitely tell that he has personal experience in the elements of spiritual warfare. For me this one hit a home run and thus garners a 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion as I am a die hard suspense thriller fan!

The Little Pine Tree

Some times the best children's books don't have to be the longest. The message they deliver can be short, sweet and to the point, and such is what you will find in Mark E. Labriola Sr.'s book, The Little Pine Tree. It's the story of a pine tree seed who wanted to grow up someday like all the other pine trees with a true purpose of being cut down and made into something special. But when the wind blew him to a remote location far removed from the main forest, he began to lose hope. He knew being so far away from the places where the carpenter's would visit and cut down trees, the odds of him being discovered were far and few.

He found his solace in the daily visits from a small boy. He would sit under the tree as it grew and would talk to his Abba as he gathered beneath it with his animal friends. As they both grew, soon the tree lost it's sense of loneliness with the visits from the boy as he too grew. But he wondered if that is all he would be is a solitary tree instead of a tree with a true purpose like a chair or table. But soon that pine tree would learn just how unique and set apart he would become as the boy who came to visit him became a man and would forever change both of their lives.

I don't want to spoil how this one turns out but the point of the story is how we are all created to be unique and blessed by God in our lives. We simply have to be patient enough to find out. Like the pine tree seed, he had to wait quite awhile before he discovered his purpose and it will show you child how special we all are in God's eyes.

I received The Little Pine Tree by Mark E. Labriola Sr compliments of Tate Publishing for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation and the opinions expressed here are strictly my own. I think this is a must have and must read for every child as a reminder we all have a purpose being here on Earth. We only have to stay close to God to find out what that is and be patient in the meantime. I easily give this a 5 out of 5 stars. It is beautifully illustrated and the storyline is simple enough for a young child to understand the words and meaning. The best part of this book is that it includes a free audio download that you can access at the conclusion of the book so you can enjoy it on your favorite audio player!

Simply Revelation - Review and Giveaway

"As we look upon the world today, we see the uneasiness and difficulties of each nation dealing with their own problems. Jesus taught there would be distress of nations with perplexity upon the earth in the last days (Luke 21:25). One might ask the question, where are we at in the timeline concerning Bible prophecy? Jesus said in Luke 21:24. "And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled." One day as Jesus was coming into Jerusalem he looked upon the city and wept over it because he knew there was coming a day when the enemies of the Jews would come and build a trench around the city, and destroy her (Luke 19:41-44). This happened in 70 AD when the Romans came and destroyed Jerusalem, and scattered the Jews among the nations."

"On May 14, 1948 Israel became a nation once more. After the six day war of June 5-10, 1967, Israel gained Jerusalem back as their capital, and ended the control of the city by the Gentiles. Now we are waiting for the time of the Gentiles to be fulfilled which will take place at the rapture of the church. Jesus said during this time there would be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; and the sea and the waves roaring (Luke 21:25). With the invention of the telescope and the knowledge of the safe techniques such as solar filters the sun can be viewed and studied in a manner that was impossible before. Today we understand the effects of solar flares coming off the sun can have upon the earth. In 1969 man landed on the moon just two years after Jerusalem was taken by the Jews. With the help of the Hubble telescope and the internet you can find images of the Cross in the Whirlpool Galaxy, the Eye of God, and the Crown of Thorns in the constellation Indus, and the Hand of God all signs in the stars. Genesis 1:14 says, "God created lights in the firmament for the heaven to divide the day from the night, and let them be for signs." In the past decade we have witnessed the effects of tsunami, and the destruction it can cause. These things happening in the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world will cause men to fear even to the point their hearts fail them (Luke 21:26)."

"Simply Revelation by author Edward L. Brownlee is a commentary on the book of Revelation. His overall intent is to give you a simple overview of this book, although he does, in part, go into detail. Throughout this book he uses the King James Version of the Bible so you will want to have your Bible handy for looking up scriptures he references in this book. Three is a blessing that comes in reading the book of Revelation. Revelation 1:3 says, "Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand." Revelation 22:7 says, "Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the saying of the prophecy of this book." (pg 9-11).

I received Simply Revelation by Edward L. Brownlee compliments of Tate Publishing and the author for my honest review of this book. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed in this review are strictly my own unless otherwise noted. For some the book of Revelation is a mystery because of the symbolism is contains. When John was exiled to the island of Patmos, he received the vision to write all he saw in this last prophetic book of the Bible. It tells of what will happen in the last days as the seven years of the tribulation unfold to those people that remain on the Earth after the rapture of believers. For them, unless they come to repent of their ways, it will literally be Hell on earth. But Revelation isn't just a book to scare people into believing in God, it offers hope to a fallen world. It shows us what life is like without Jesus Christ as our Savior. It is the ONLY book in the Bible where they is a blessing bestowed upon whoever reads the words and keeps what the book says in their hearts.

Edward L. Brownlee does an great job at providing a simple overview without confusing the reader. This is a great resource to those that want a study guide to accompany them as they walk through Revelation, verse by verse. He uses Bible scripture found throughout the Bible to bring clarity to the verses in Revelation. If you are looking for a thorough in depth look at the book of Revelation, this is not it. I do love the details he does examine in different segments in Revelation when it pertains to the four horsemen and its correlation to the prophecies in Daniel and Ezekiel. I only wish the entire book was like this for me! I easily rate this however a 4.5 out of 5 stars and it does create a desire to go deeper once you gain the basics in what Revelation speaks about.

Rapture Factor on America - Giveaway and Review

If anyone asked me what my favorite book in the Bible is, by far it would be the book of Revelation! Not only does it forecast the end result of what will ultimately happen between God versus Satan but also gives us the hope for a eternal future with Jesus Christ as a believer. That when this life is over, it is just truly beginning. As a believer, I have been intrigued by Bible Prophecy and love to follow along and decipher what clues lie within the scriptures that are just waiting to be fulfilled as well as the 100% accuracy of the ones that have been filled.

However when you look at the status of the way things are going in the world whenever it has come to Bible Prophecy and the end times, we are told to look to Israel to be placed on center stage. We see in prophecy the major players at the end, but one component is missing, where is the United States in all of this? The world super power we are today will not be the world super power of the future and it's chilling to see what Bible Prophecy has to say in where we began as a blessed nation with Christian biblical foundations, although some would love to argue that point including our own government leaders of today, but also where we as a country are headed. Is God removing His hand of protection over the United States? Are we too far gone to gain back what we have had in the past? What hopes lies in store for the United States if we continue on the same path of destruction we are on currently?

You might just want to pick up Edwards L. Brownlee's latest book Rapture Factor on America for a chilling look at our biblical past and see just how much it parallels with Israel. I found so much valuable information in this book I had never connected the proverbial dots to. The thirteen tribes of Israel that had to flee across the Red Sea to gain freedom to worship God as they saw fit, much like the thirteen original colonies that came her across the Atlantic fleeing freedom from a King that wanted to control their religious freedoms. Interesting connection? This is just a handful of the blessings that have joined the US with Israel and how God has blessed us with our alliance with Israel. Now that we have long since abandoned our need for God in this current generation through the misinterpretation of the separation of church and state, to the removal of the Bible and prayer in schools and businesses. This book is such a great resource for anyone who loves Bible Prophecy and End Times events in relation to what God's Word provides.

I received Rapture Factor on America by Edward l. Brownlee compliments of Tate Publishing and Edward L. Brownlee for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are strictly my own unless otherwise noted. I love the historical research that the author did in providing his facts and interpretations of what the Bible scriptures have to say and provided all sorts of reference for your own fact checking. It is a chilling look at how far we as a blessed nation have truly fallen into our own self gratification and how we have simply pushed God to the back burner. For those that remain after the rapture, I don't believe there will be much in the way of the United States maintaining it's status as a blessed nation any longer and if today's signs are pointing to anything, it's that the rapture of the church is literally on the horizon to happen very soon! I easily give this book a 5 out of 5 stars and intend to go back through it in detail again being the huge history and prophecy lover that I am.

Zion's Promise

What inspired me to draw closer to God was Bible Prophecy and none held so much mystery as the book of Revelation. It is the only book in the Bible in which a promise is given to those who read it and thus it makes me wonder why so many hold that last prophetic book at arm's length believing there is much there that warrants an understanding that so many are challenged to study.

Dennis R. Wilson reached out to me and asked me to review his book, Zion's Promise along with the premise that this book deals with the very subject of unlocking the mystery behind one of the most challenging books of the Bible, Revelation. You can say I was intrigued and was more than looking forward to this one. I read almost anything geared to Bible Prophecy and it still draws me like a moth to a flame. Little did I know how much I didn't know until reading this book. It does more than explain in layman's terms what some of the symbolism is relating to the chapter in Revelation. He outlines his own search for the truth from his college days and how like me he was drawn to the truth only the Bible can reveal to those with eyes to see and ears to hear. You have to have God in your heart to understand all that the Bible reveals.

The journey takes the reader not only into the heart of evolution and Darwin, but also into the heart of pursuing God's truth through the Bible to understand the matter of the heart of God's people. I love how he so accurately details what is wrong with the theory of Evolution in comparison to the Creation story. I just wish more people took the Bible at face value when it comes to creation instead of spending all the time trying to disprove it. It keeps on coming back to the truth as more and more facts are being found that no one can disprove. Such as while are seashell fossils found on the mountaintops if the flood never happen. How do you explain how they got there?

Dennis then takes readers into the horrors of the Holocaust and explains just how God's chosen people, the Jews have been persecuted since they were scattered across the nations of the earth and just how the nation of Israel came to be created as well as the fulfillment of the Bible Prophecy regarding the returning of the Jews to their homeland in 1948 through Ezekiel 37. The research that Dennis Wilson goes through is mind blowing to say the very least and both my husband and I were busy researching all the information and insight he provides in such detail. I only wish our history books today contained as much information as one might find in this book.

Dennis finally concludes his book with a very detailed section defining the book of Revelation. He constructs a time line of the initial seven churches and just what the lamp stands and the seven churches mean to us anyway. I was completely in awe as I spent so much time wondering why I didn't make the connection before that the seven churches detail the church history right up to the current mega church of today and what those specific warnings geared to each mean. From the seven trumpets, to the seven seals along with the seven bowls, this book unveils the mystery of the last book of the Bible. Even those who aren't Christian can not but be moved to a chilling realization that one day a choice will need to be made by all. Either choose Christ or choose an eternal death. God's timeline is limited but wishing that none shall perish, He will go to extraordinary lengths to see that happen.

I received Zion's Promise by Dennis R. Wilson compliments of Tate Publishing as well as the author himself for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed here are strictly my own. It took me the entire day to get through this 373 page book because it is very detailed and thoroughly researched. It is something you don't want to rush through and I know I will be going back again and again to read through the book. There is so much good stuff in here I want to share it with anyone who loves a great Bible Study. I only wish there were those out there who would take the challenge and use this book as a guide to walk people through the Bible prophecy. I can only imagine how many would come to know God in the process. We need more books like this one and I easily give this one a well deserved 5 out of 5 stars. This book is available for preorder now as it published on 11/12/13!

About the Author:
Dennis has been a pastor for ten years, a missionary to Africa and Christian Bible teacher for another twenty. His undergraduate degree is in Science, and he has had his post graduate work at Multnomah School of the Bible. Every since his conversion to Christ in 1970, he has devoted himself to a systematic study of Bible prophecy. He has given numerous sermons, seminars and has conducted an evening class at the University of Montana, in this fascinating topic.
