When Calls the Heart - Heart of a Hero

Looking for a great family series that is suitable for all ages? Trust me, check out When Calls the Heart! It began with the novel from Janette Oke and spawned into a great series that you can find on the Hallmark Channel. Now going on it's 4th season soon, this is produced by Michael Landon Jr, whose family has produced some amazing series geared for families.

When Calls the Heart - Heart of a Hero, is the 3 DVD release in Season 3 that showcases the life of a frontier town called Hope Valley, a mining town out west that takes us into the heart of all the town's residents, and has roots in relationships, self-empowerment, love and enduring power of love. New arrivals bring excitement, love and danger to Hope Valley. Pastor Frank has been reinstated following the revelation of his criminal past, but the arrival of his old cohorts, the Garrison Gang, are making life - and his relationship with Abigail Stanton (Lori Loughlin) - very tense. Bill Avery (Jack Wagner) has his own debt to settle with Jake Garrison, and Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing), intends to stay Bill's hand from killing the man. Meanwhile, Lee Coulter's foot injury brings a pretty nurse, Faith Carter from Hamilton...and soon after, her possessive fiancè. And Jack rises to the defense of new settlers on Gowen's land when Gowen abruptly raises their rent.

Just when you thought love was blooming in all the right places for our favorite characters Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow) and Abigail Stanton who have had their faith share of problems, now it seems they will have to deal with issues from the past in both of their situations. Faith was the nurse who helped Jack's brother back in Elizabeth's hometown of Hamilton and caused their relationship to be tested and now she is in Hope Valley. But will she stay? Will Pastor Frank even be able to face the town again as their man of faith, when he held back his own secret past? What will that do for the relationship that was just beginning to kindle with Abigail? It seems our heroes heart will be put to the ultimate test.

I received When Calls the Heart: Heart of a Hero by Word Films and Edify Media Inc for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review aside from a free copy of this DVD in exchange for my unbiased and personal opinion. This has truly been my favorite series from the Hallmark Channel, in part because I grew up with Little House on the Prairie and now When Calls the Heart is this generations equivalent of the same. It has great moral lessons and the characters convey the consequences that come from wrong decisions, but forgiveness and unconditional love always win out in the end. Dove Family Approved and running time is 84 minutes approximately and worth all 5 out of 5 stars.

When Calls the Heart: Heart of the Family

I have absolutely fallen for the series When Calls the Heart, produced by Michael Landon Jr, and based on the novel by Janette Oke. Now part of the Hallmark Channel this series takes viewers back to the good old days of family entertainment, where good wholesome values and love can still be found without all the questionable content families want to see in their television shows, much like the old Little House on the Prairie series we appreciated quite awhile ago.

In the second series, Heart of the Family brings us back to those beloved characters we fell in love with in the first season. Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing)  and Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow)are facing a series of challenges in their relationship when Charles Kensington is thrown in the mix, a childhood friend from Elizabeth's past who believes he is the right man for her and has garnered her father's support as well. Seeing that her mother is well, Elizabeth returns to Coal Valley only to learn some changes have taken place, and for one, a new town name, Hope Valley now. School is just ready to start again, and Jack can't wait to show Elizabeth the schoolhouse he has built for her along with the help from others in town.

Mr. Henry Gowen has now become the new mayor and is still up to his underhanded ways to control those in town who refuse to adhere to the way he wants to conduct business beginning with Abigail Stanton (Lori Loughlin), and now added to the mix is Lee Coulter who is trying to revive the town through opening a sawmill now that the mine is closed down. Only Mr. Gowen will stop at nothing to ensure that Lee's business is brought down at all cost gouging him with fees and paperwork. Rosemary is still giving Lee a run for his money as the harder he tries to garner her interest, she keeps him at bay. She is now taking on an advice column in the local paper, "Ask Mary Rose!" She believes the women in Hope Valley will take her advice because her life is filled with glamour and romance!

Just when you think it couldn't get any seedier, Bill Avery returns hoping to persuade Abigail of his true intentions despite the fact he remains married. He seems to be up to no good dealing with counterfeiters but assures Jack that he is merely working undercover to expose who the head of the operations really are. Abigail meanwhile begins to accept the help of her newly discovered daughter in law Clara, who is trying to find a fresh start in town by being courted by the young men of Hope Valley. But Abigail is still dealing with the loss of her husband and son, and believe it's too soon for Clara to date, but is it?

I received When Calls the Heart: Heart of the Family compliments of Hallmark Channel, Word Films, and Edify Media Inc for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review outside of a free copy of the DVD and the opinions contained are my honest and personal ones. The running time on this DVD is 88 minutes and includes exclusive behind the scenes interviews with your favorite characters. I love this series, because it takes us back to a much simpler time in history and I've always been a huge fan of westerns and historical romances. Just like in life, things aren't always each to work out, much like the relationships we see happening in Hope Valley. They offer us a chance to see the consequences played out when they make the choices they do. I only wish there were more television shows like this. For me this one rates a 5 out of 5 stars.

23 Blast - DVD Review and Giveaway

Growing up Travis Freeman was your typical boy who loved playing football. In fact between Travis and his best friend Jerry Baker, they were a true all American pair who could read each other like no one else. It was no surprise when in their senior year, Travis and Jerry would find themselves playing for the RedHounds in a small Kentucky town. Knowing this could simply be an unforgettable year for the team Travis is ready for scholarship opportunities during this season. Yet when a sinus infection invades his body, antibiotics refuse to work and subsequently lead Travis to losing his sight. How does a young man who has all his hopes and dreams laid out in front of him respond to having it all taken away?

That is the true story behind 23 Blast, a new inspirational movie from Ocean Avenue Entertainment, Toy Gun Films and Touchdown Productions. Travis will need to learn to be dependent on not only his parents, his mobility coach, his best friend and his former team to help him through this dark storm. It will take not only his athletic ability, but the courage and perseverance to digger deeper than he ever dreamed possible to find a way to play football again against all the odds and people who oppose the coach wanting him to play again.

This is truly a must see for fans of movies like Rudy and Facing the Giants, and teaches us the value of not letting anything define who God created us to be. .There truly is nothing we can't achieve with the love and support of our faith, friends and family. This movie is rated PG-13 due to the brief drinking of alcohol on school property). It runs for 98 minutes and comes loaded with some amazing special features like The Travis Freeman Story, Whatever Happens to Jerry Baker?, Bloopers, Behind the Scenes Featurette and more.

I received 23 Blast compliments of Propeller Consulting, LLC, for my honest review and did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review. The only flaw I found in the film was that it moved pretty fast in the beginning to get to Travis's blindness. At one point he has swelling in his eyelids and is diagnosed with a sinus infection and in the next scene he is being taken into surgery because the antibiotics aren't working. There is a scene in which the doctor comes out of surgery but the discussion he has is not heard in the movie. The parents are the ones to explain to Travis when he wakes from surgery what has happened. You learn through the Travis Freeman Story and subsequent information on the website that the infection destroyed his optic nerve which rendered him blind. That would have been helpful to understand in the movie. Overall a great film that teach how to move past obstacles and find the light at the end. I rate this one a 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Why Do We Call It Christmas? Giveaway and Review

From the makers of What's in the Bible and Veggie Tales, Phil Vischer created a unique one of a kind DVD for children that specifically addresses Christmas and its traditions. Buck Denver is sitting alone in his cabin in the woods and wants to know what all those things we do at Christmas mean to signify the celebration of Jesus' birth. He decides he will invite a few friends over to explore what it all means.

Instead of bouncing our kids between "Jesus Christmas" and "Santa Christmas," wouldn't it be great if they understood how all these traditions fit together? How they ALL point us to Jesus? We think THAT would be a holiday worth celebrating. Topics of cutting down trees, hanging stockings, Santa Claus, are all discussed from their points of origins to show how each of them points to Jesus Christ and His birthday. You might know the Christmas story, but do you know the story of Christmas? Don't miss he whimsical, educational, Christmical party to end all Christmas parties as Buck Denver Asks...Why Do We Call It Christmas?

Viewers will understand the significance of why we celebrate Christmas on December 25th, the meaning behind the Christmas Tree, St. Nicholas day celebrations, the meaning behind Santa's red suit, where did we get the word Christmas from, what is Hanukkah, and the story of the Upside Down Kingdom. As Buck learns more from his friends as they make their way to his cabin for a Christmas celebration, he begins to understand just how wonderful our Christmas traditions mean and how we can explain them to our friends and family as we celebrate the real meaning behind the season in terms that are easy for kids to understand.

I received Buck Denver Asks...Why Do We Call It Christmas? compliments of JellyTelly and Propeller LLC for my honest review of this DVD. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions contained here are strictly my own. If you love the What's in the Bible Series, then you will want to pick up this special Christmas addition, just in time for the holidays. The DVD is loaded with all kinds of fun extras from a coloring page, a note from Phil, a special question and answer section to help parents further discuss what they learned from the DVD as well as some incredible bonus features on this 60 minute DVD. There was even information I didn't know until I watched this and it is specifically geared to entertain and teach children about all the stuff we celebrate at Christmas time! Well worth all 5 out of 5 stars.

Now the very best part....thanks to the generosity of the folks at JellyTelly and Propeller LLC, they are offering a giveaway copy of this DVD to one lucky follower of my blog Reviews From The Heart. Here's all you need to do to enter:

When Calls the Heart: The Dance - DVD Review

If you are looking for an incredible family series that is appropriate for the entire family, then look no further than Hallmark Channel's When Calls The Heart! Based on the novels from best-selling author Janette Oke and combining the writing talents of Michael Landon Jr., you get an amazing story of life on the frontier for school teacher Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow) in the small mining town of Coal Valley. Even though viewers know the feelings between Miss Thatcher and Canadian Mounty, Jack Thorton (Daniel Lissing) has been sparking since the very beginning both of them maintain their proper boundaries from one another.

In the DVD release of When Calls the Heart: The Dance, we know see the small town coming back to familiar routines and one of them being the Miner games, which is hosting by the entire town for the miners and their families. As the mine ramps back up to full operation since the mining explosion that killed most of them men and their sons in Coal Valley, a new load of miners arrives at the mine. We now see, Billy Hamilton, a charismatic and handsome miner take interest in Miss Thatcher and he isn't afraid to let her know his is interested, even quoting romantic poetry he claims as his own. Even though Elizabeth has reservations about his methods, she isn't about to wait on Jack forever to make his feelings known. But Jack warns Elizabeth not to be so trusting, without him investigation Billy Hamilton more fully. Elizabeth just thinks Jack is jealous.

Some of the other women in town seem to be interested in the miners as well. But when a string of robberies begin to hit the town, Jack feels that he knows who the criminal is and sets up a trap to capture Billy Hamilton in the act. He attempts to show Elizabeth that the information he has on Billy proves his is hiding something and if she doesn't watch out she may lose more than just her heart. So who is hiding the biggest secret of all in Coal Valley? Viewers of When Calls The Heart: The Dance, will have to pick this one up to find out!

I received When Calls the Heart: The Dance compliments of Word Films and Edify Media Group for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for an honest review and the opinions contained here are strictly my own. Not since Little House on the Prairie has there been a series until When Calls the Heart and if you loved the Little House Series or simply love a great family series set in the Old West, then you will LOVE this one. I easily give this a 5 out of 5 stars and can't wait for the next season to air on the Hallmark Channel. Fans of Love Come Softly will absolutely LOVE this one as well. The chemistry between Elizabeth and Jack is so strong it won't take much to light these two on fire and that is part of the appeal as well as the love Elizabeth brings to school the children of Coal Valley in the town's saloon to teach them there is more to life than working in the mines. This is the third DVD in the series.

Iesodo: Faith

Not since Veggie Tales has there been a great series for parents to provide visual entertainment for their children with great lessons to encourage further communication with your kids. Now there is, with Iesodo, pronounced Yay-Sa-Doe, meaning The Way of Jesus, which is a white dove in the bird world that represent the persona of Jesus. As this series begins, we are introduced to the family of birds that reside in a place called Cypress World on the Sea of Gailee that share two episode in each DVD filled with amazing and beautiful animation and music geared just for your kids.

I was invited to review Iesodo: Faith where you introduced to Miracles are Everywhere. The Hopi's are traditionalists and have their own way of doing things sticking to their traditional way of life. When Finch the Snitch conveys that Iesodo and his followers are doing things differently by spreading the good news, they immediately spring into action to put a stop to things. They send the Finch into action trying to find a way to trap Iesodo but when they arrive to speak to a large flock, it seems there won't be enough to feed them all. What will happen? Will they have enough faith to believe in what Iesodo instructs them to do?

In the next episode, The Wind and The Rain, teaches your children what you can do when you are afraid and how having faith helps to know that you can come through things if you remain strong. When the birds venture out on the Sea and the storms begin to get worse, Maggie comes up with a song to help the birds initially but then the waves and wind toss them overboard. They begin to grow afraid until Iesodo reminds them to have faith. He encourages Rocky to step out on the water and come to him in a miraculous retelling of Paul's journey of faith in Jesus. Anything is possible if you just believe.

I received Iesodo: Faith DVD compliments of Zaya Toonz, Rollman Entertainment, Capital Christian Distribution and Edify Media Inc for my honest review. This is such a brilliant series that you will want to make sure you collect all three, Love, Faith and Believe in the series. Directors for the series include Brian E. Ray whose credits consist of Muppet Babies, My Little Pony Tales and Ed, Ed, and Eddy, as well as Colin Brady, whose credits include Toy Story, Toy Story 2 and A Bug's Life. Brady also served as the former animation supervisor for Pixar Animation Studios. Producer Eric S. Rollman, President/CEO of Rollman Entertainment, formerly served as President of Production for Fox Kids and Marvel, and writer/producer Rob Loos is an Emmy Nominee and writer/producer for McGee and Me! Christmas Lamb, Kids 10 Commandments and Touched by an Angel. The Iesodo series also features the voice of Erin Bethea (Fireproof, Amazing Love) as Maggie. So as you can see this is a collaborative effort utilizing some of the best talents to bring you something wonderful for teaching your child biblical concepts that they will LOVE. I easily give this series a 5 out of 5 stars. My only complaint is that I wish this was available when I was growing up! Run time is about 55 minutes and contains some great bonus features like Bible verses, music videos and much more. This has received the Dove Approved Seal.

Let God

"Nashville, TN - (January 15, 2014) –Word Films is set to release Breckenridge Film Festival’s 2013 “Best Feature” and “Best Actress” winner “Let God” on DVD on February 25. The faith-based film  follows  the story of young housewife, Amelia, who heads west with her husband during the 19th century gold rush and is left alone without resources in the harsh wilderness when her husband is killed in a savage attack. Battling winter, hunger and the unknown, Amelia must take life into her own hands as she struggles with a loss of faith and battles for her survival.

“There’s a gap between ritual and faith, and we explore that,” said “Let God” writer/director/producer William Parker. “The character of Amelia is very ritual oriented – she goes to church, she read the Bible…but through the movie she kind of gives up on it. Amelia struggles with loss of faith, feeling she’s been abandoned by God and is completely on her own.”  “In the end, she realizes that not only does she actually find her faith, she actually really believes, genuinely, ‘This is what I was looking for,’” adds Jasmin Jandreau who plays Amelia. “She realizes, through another connection in the film that comes along, that God was with her the whole time, and God was communicating with her the whole time.”

In addition to winning both “Best Feature” and “Best Actress” honors at the 2013 Breckenridge Film Festival, “Let God” was also an official selection at the 2013 Gideon Film Festival and has earned the Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for any age. “This is a terrific Story!” said the Dove Foundation. “The writer/director and leading actress Jasmine Jandreau, as Amelia, somehow manage to make this story of survival a powerful movie about trials and a faith that overcomes all odds…You will enjoy watching this one. Don’t miss it!” (Press Release)

My Review:

This is such a powerful movie by the time you get to the very end. The beginning is a bit off because it picks up after Amelia has suffered the loss of her husband and has been left alone to survive in the wilderness. You don't discover that til the movie gets going and it toggles back to where it all began. Amelia felt that this was something she didn't support when her husband made the decision to head west for a fresh new start. Yet despite all her instincts cautioning her against going, being married, she knew she had to stand by her husband. Eager to begin a new life, Levi wastes no time in making the arrangements to join another wagon train headed west. But when they spend too much time not traveling on the Sabbath, he grows impatient and suggests they head out anyway. What he fails to understand in his immaturity, is that there is safety in numbers.

As they are attacked by Indians, Amelia is told to stay in the wagon and hides when she realizes they are under attack. Now left alone to deal not only with her husband's death, but her own survival she clutches to the only thing that has been a comfort to her in her life, her faith in God. Yet despite all her prayers for help, Amelia doesn't believe God hears her and abandons God while struggling for survival being completely unprepared for trying to find her way to anyone who can help her. She has to face some of the harshest circumstances from extreme weather conditions, shelter and finding food but she perseveres on in spite of the odds against her.

I received Let God by Word Films compliments of Word Films and Edify Media for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for my review and the opinions expressed in this review are my own unless otherwise notated. This is such a wonderful reminder of when faced against challenging odds as long as we are willing to cry out to God, He will provide us the hope to continue when our own strength fades. Sometimes our faith is encouraged when faced with insurmountable odds and only through being challenged will we be strengthened. While the circumstances that Amelia faces seem a bit unrealistic at times, when others are found frozen to death, she manages to survive, shows how her faith alone in God enabled her to survive when others fell short. The message behind the movie is hope and faith and that comes across loud and clear. I rate this one a 4 out of 5 stars. This DVD is appropriate for all ages to enjoy! This DVD runs about 91 minutes.

King's Faith ~ DVD Review and Giveaway

18 is the magic number for Brendan King. It's not his age but the number of foster home's he's been in and he's hoping that he will finally find a place to call home, not just a temporary stop in life. Yet for Brendan, he's had to grow up fast and see things that many hope never to encounter in life. After losing his mother to drugs and alcohol and watching her die and never knowing who his father is, he goes with whatever family he can find. For Brendan, that would mean gangs. Gang members looked out for one another and were there for you when family wasn't. At least that is what he always believed.

Now after being released from prison after a drug raid that left his best friend dead, Brendan believes he discovered his new lease on life. It began when the only book he could have in prison was a Bible given to him from a pastor. Having nothing else to do and no hope for a future, Brendan discovered that there is someone who will never leave you and one that offers the life he always dreamed even if he never discovered it from his own family. Armed with trying a new path to life, he becomes a foster child to Mike and Vee who have suffered their own loss, their son who died as a police officer when a traffic stop resulted in being shot by gang members.

Now if Brendan can only convince his foster parent's that he has changed along with the kids in his new high school who wonder just how true the rumors are about him. However just as he's hoping for a positive change, the local sheriff keeps a close eye out believing no one can reform and eventually will fall back into their old ways. When Brendan's gang members are released from prison they come back around searching for a drug stash they believe that Brendan has hidden. Will he be able to hold fast to the faith he has found or will old habits call him back?

I received King's Faith by Provident Films and FlyBy Promotions for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed are strictly my own. While this is a Christian based film, the subject matter deals with gangs and drugs and may not be suitable for all members of your family. Parental discretion is strongly advised but it does open up conversations for parents of teens to have with their children regarding the circumstances surrounding the issues Brendan faces not only from peer pressure from his old life but also in dealing with defending his faith to people who don't believe he's changed for the better. In this DVD extra's are some clips that can be used for Bible Study purposes as well as a discussion guide link for more resources. My 14-year-old daughter watched this with us and found it worth watching because is deals with the very things happening within our high school and she got to see an positive alternative by the end of the film both in the way of second chances and in how God can come through when you least expect it. Well worth every 108 minutes and for that I give this one a 5 out of 5 stars.

Now for the best part, thanks to Provident Films and Fly By Promotions, they are offering a giveaway copy to one lucky follower of my blog. Here's all you need to do to enter:

1. Be a follower of my blog, Reviews From The Heart.

Season of a Lifetime - DVD Review

When faced with the challenge of having to face coming to terms with being diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, headcoach of the Greenville Patriots, Jeremy Williams chose a different path than looking at his life with a definitive end point ahead of him. His story is now being captured in the DVD release from Word Films, Season of a Lifetime, showcases how he uses his faith to pull through what would be the end for most of us when faced with a terminal illness at such a young age.

Jeremy was showcased on Extreme Home Makeover and the viewers get a glimpse of that season's show as well as how he inspired the cast and crew in their own walk of faith as they prepared a home that would enable him and his younger son Jacob, who is was diagnosed with spinal bifoda which keeps him confined to a wheelchair to enjoy life more.He shares his life with his teenage daughter as well as his high school sweetheart he married.

What this DVD captures is much more than Jeremy's final season as coach for the Greenville Patriots, it captures the resilience of a man faced with a difficult disease that will claim his life all too soon, and how he uses that faith to motivate the men he coaches on his football team. It's pretty inspirational to watch how Jeremy never sees what happened to him as a crutch but as a tool to motivate others to never give up. It's simply over, when it's over.

I received Season of a Lifetime compliments of Word Films and Edify Media Inc for my honest review and received no monetary compensation for a favorable one. This is not a fictional based movie but more along the lines of watching the last season in Jeremy's life as a coach and how he motivated his team not only to become a great football team but to become better people outside of the game. His goal is to inspire others and I think he does just that, not only with the members of his church family, but fellow coaches and players in rival teams. It truly does change your perspective in how will you face life when adversity comes your way. Hopefully we will all follow Jeremy's example and do it with grace, strength and dignity. I personally rate this one a 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Then I have the perfect movie for you that should help point you in the right direction or even be content with where you are at right now! Pure Flix presents This Is Our Time, a way to seize God's calling! Starring Erin Bethea (Fireproof) as Alè and her husband Luke (T.J. Dalrymple) who marry shortly after their graduation from college, and feel the calling of going to India as part of Embrace A Village ministry. This ministry cares for those afflicted with leprosy and their families. Their friends from college Catherine (Kate Cobb), an aspiring financier, who joins a prestigious financial institution determined to make an impact on corporate American; Ryder (Matthew Florida), who lands an impressive job in social media and can't wait to use the powerful medium for a greater good; and Ethan (Shawn-Caulin Young), seemingly the odd man out, who struggles to find his God-given purpose and feels sidelined by God.

"What they all come to learn is that it never really was their time, but always was, always is, God's time."

This movie is so powerful because there is a sense that we can all relate to a character in the movie. Even those that seem to have it all made, find themselves struggling with some of the business ethical choices in their jobs, so it's not always as green on the other side as some would see. I found myself relating to the character of Catherine because it sometimes means having to make hard choices in your job. I myself, found that leaving a job after ten years despite the prestige and salary that may it hard to give up, required me to simply walk away and never look back. At the time, the decision was a hard one and one I found myself questioning quite a bit during my first year, especially when my family just bought a new home and two incomes were almost required. However, I found with God's assurance, we were able to make it just fine and He paved the way in unpredictable ways, much like He does in all the characters in this movie. Sometimes we have to get to the end of the path before we can see clearly because the whole time we were simply too close to the situation.

I received This Is Our Time by Pure Flix Entertainment compliments of Flyby Promotions for my honest review and received no compensation for a favorable review. This movie really hit home with me as a stay at home mom for the last ten years now wondering if I was sacrificing what God wanted me to do for something bigger and more impactful. However, after watching this one, I am content with where God has placed me and until such a time that He asks me to move in another direction, I will do my best with what I can. A great family movie with a profound moral message. For those wondering where God's at in your life in any situation, this is the movie for you. I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars. Now comes the best part.

Abel's Field - DVD Giveaway and Review

Sometimes it's harder to forgive ourselves than it is to seek God's forgiveness. Seth McArdle is about to learn that very lesson in the unlikeliest of places. Seeking to raise his twin younger sisters after the death of his mother and now the abandonment of his father who fails to returns phone calls or even come home to see how his family is managing. While trying to finish up high school, avoid the quarterback of the football team who seems to bully Seth whenever possible, and hold down three jobs just to put enough food on the table. Now when a man appears searching for his father, Seth learns that his father hasn't been paying the mortgage payments on the house and it's now going to be foreclosed upon if the payments are made current.

When those around Seth offer help, he seems too proud to take it or even to ask for it. He is trying to find a way to keep his family together even though it's falling apart all around him. Even his brother, Keith, seems to have abandoned the responsibility of helping out when he can and instead finds solace in drinking. When Seth pushes things a bit too far with the football team, he finds himself the only one facing punishment. The football coach assigns him the task of working with Abel (Kevin Sorbo) the janitor/groundskeeper of the high school to get the sprinkler system up and working before the big game. Abel attempts to find a way to reach inside Seth and help him find the path back to God and to keep him from making some foolish mistakes that may cost him everything in the end.

In the DVD, Abel's Field by Affirm Films, makers of such wonderful family films like Fireproof and Courageous, now bring you another great family film that deals with forgiveness and understanding the circumstances that life can bring about when our choices seems to much to deal with. The Woodcarver - DVD Giveaway and Review

When a young troubled boy named Matthew Stevenson decides to destroy the church because of an unanswered prayer, he is caught on video tape and has to be punished. He is ordered by the church deacons to spend his time repairing all the damage he did to avoid persecution. However a lot of the wood work that is destroyed was created by Ernest Otto (John Ratzenberger).

Since losing his wife of forty years to cancer, Ernest has lived a reclusive life and his woodcarving tools have sat unused since his creations at the church many years ago. Now called by the church once more to restore some of the unique carvings to the church, Ernest enlists the aid of Matthew to help him finish on time, otherwise the work will be bid out to competitor wood mill whom his father is forming a partnership with.

Feeling that God doesn't answer prayers, Matthew confesses to Ernest that he prayed for his parents to avoid getting divorced and now fighting and living separate lives, he believes that God has failed him. Yet because God answers prayers in unique and different ways from what we expect, this family will find that anything is possible if one is willing to work hard at it and offer their prayers to God.

I received the DVD, The Woodcarver, compliments of Propeller and Nasser Group North for my honest review and thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful family film. It shows that we need to enjoy what we have in the present more so than ever before because even the prayers we ask, may often times be answered by God in far different ways than we ever imagined. Our family really enjoyed the message of this movie and found it a great way to talk about prayer and how God will often times answer them. While the answers may be different than we expected, it does not mean God doesn't listen or doesn't care. My family rates this movie at 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommends it to anyone looking for great family entertainment.

So when his anger gets the best of him during a lacrosse game in which a recruiter from the top colleges are watching, Solomon has one of the worst accidents he could imagine. He is knocked unconscious on the field. When he awakens in the hospital, he finds that instead of just vertigo and the occasional double vision, he is know seeing his world, upside-down literally.

When his doctors tell him its a highly unique situation, Solomon is forced to see more than his life in a different way. All his possibilities that were in his reach are now up for grabs.
