Unshakable Trust

I've heard it stated that once trust is broken, it can be the hardest thing to repair. That is probably true because no one wants to deal with the "I told you so's!" when it happens again through no fault or perhaps fault of our own. In fact it was the first lesson I learned in my second marriage. I was hell bent on people having to earn my trust before I just gave it to them. However my future husband told me if I do that, you are treating everyone else that comes into your life as if they were the one's that broke your trust to begin with. Everyone has to be given a 100% in your life and you adjust accordingly. We all can agree that once trust has been violated, it is hard to mend those fences. In fact, it begs to ask the question is it even possible to do?

Well in Joyce Meyer's latest book. Unshakable Trust, she reminds readers in how to find the joy of trusting God at all times and in all things, because when we place our trust in man, it will be likely broken at some point because we are expecting perfection and no one can give us that perfection but God in our lives. Even I can agree that I am far from perfect so why would I anticipate that my trust would be an different. Trusting God is the best way to honor God and the benefits of doing so are countless and amazing. I could tell you story after story of putting my trust in God even when I didn't trust myself and have seen the incredible benefits in doing so. In fact God's ways almost defy human explanation. Trust is not an obligation we owe to God. It is a privilege that He makes available to us. When we do this, we open the door to a life of peace, joy and fruitfulness in our lives. It enables us to live without fear, worry, anxiety, fear, reasoning or debilitating stress. God wants us to lean on Him at all times and in all things, not just the ones we aren't getting our own way in.

Since we all have a tendency to be self-reliant and independent, it usually takes us quite a while to learn how to trust God. Part of that difficulty stems from our unpleasant experiences that often teach us that people cannot always be trusted. But God's ways are far above those of people, and His Word teaches us that His character is such that He cannot lie or deceive. In this book, Joyce will show you how to learn to trust without borders and have faith beyond reason. Total trust in God should be our goal. Hebrews 11:6 states, "without faith it is impossible to please Him." Faith and trust are so connected that we cannot separate them. It maintains His presence in our lives and connects us to Him in a very powerful way. Yet we also have an enemy, Satan, who continually seeks to prevent us from enjoying a relationship with God and the life He offers us. Satan tempts us with worry, fear, and anxiety, reasoning, stress, doubt and everything else that will get our mind off of God and cause us to lead self-absorbed lives in which we desperately try to take care of ourselves.

I received Unshakable Trust by Joyce Meyers compliments of Faith Words, a division of Hachette Book Groups. The only antidote for these miseries is complete trust in God. The best part of any of Joyce Meyer's books is that she shares her own personal struggles, often times laced with a bit of humor and gives you just the right advice as if your own Momma were dishing it out. It's straightforward, honest, and cuts right through the worlds own perverted self help ways to get us out of whatever we are going through. She can show you how to rebuild trust that is broken even if we can no longer converse with those that caused us to mistrust. She tears apart those world myths that too many of us fall for as well like 'don't assume that because you been hurt by someone that everyone will hurt you!' This was mine mantra for so long. God will not only heal you, but He will restore all those lost years of your life when you place your faith and trust in Him. For that reason, I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion and believe that we could all do with a dose of learning how to really TRUST again!

20 Ways to Make Every Day Better

"I'm just having a bad day."

Have you ever said that to yourself or perhaps a friend or family member in a way to excuse your behavior or attitude for the moment? Traffic is backed up, you spill your coffee before you even get a sip, the kids are driving you crazy, the kitchen faucet is dripping, your boss is in a mood, and the car is making that funny noise again. I'm just have a bad day!

While there aren't many days when all those things happen at once (thankfully), you and I both know that any one of those challenges can test our temperament, pollute our perspective, or hijack our joy. Far too often we write it off as a "bad day" and give up until tomorrow. Tomorrow will be better, we hope, while subconsciously waving the white flag of surrender on today.

But the problem with bad days is they tend to pile up - have you noticed that? A bad day becomes a bad week. A bad week becomes a bad month. And before you know it, a bad month becomes a bad year. Many of us spend the last week of every December saying the exact same thing: "I can't wait until this year is over!"

If you can relate to that, if you've ever given up on today, waiting on tomorrow, pick up Joyce Meyer's latest book. 20 Ways to Make Every Day Better! The book is divided into four equally important sections: "When You Awake," "New Steps to Take," " Patterns to Break,"  and "Before It's Too Late." These sections are meant to systematically take you through your day and show you what God's Word teaches about making that day and every day count. You can open any chapter at any time and apply the principle in that chapter to make your day immediately better. This book is full of biblical instruction, practical applications, stories to inspire, and helpful suggestions.

I received 20 Ways to Make Every Day Better by Joyce Meyer compliments of Faith Words, a division of Hachette Book Groups. In accordance with the new FTC Guidelines for blogging and endorsements, you should assume that every book reviewed here at Reviews From The Heart was provided to the reviewer by the publisher, media group or the author for free and were received, unless specified otherwise. What I love most about Joyce's books is that they drive home the point in a way that is both humorous and biblical. She just gives it to you straight like you need to hear things without candy-coating anything. As I was going through my own rough patch medically, this book enabled me to not chalk everything up to a "bad moment" in my life. That there were things I good glean from this time of suffering and trial and grow both spiritually and mentally in the process and most of all, make me a better person to be around.

There is also the 20 Ways to Make Every Day Better Study Guide which helps you through each stage of the book. I would recommend you getting them both so you can work through the points of the book in conjunction with your own personal struggle. This would also be perfect for a great small group Bible study. After all, who doesn't have a bad day from time to time? I give both of these resources a 5 out of 5 stars.

Seize The Day - Study Guide

Yesterday, I share with you a review on Seize the Day, Joyce Meyer's latest novel to encourage and motivate readers on how to learn to live your life with purpose and in making every single day count. What is so wonderful today, is that I am sharing with you a Study Guide that goes hand in hand with the book Seize the Day. You can either read through the entire book, Seize the Day and then follow up with the Study Guide or like I chose to do, after each chapter, I picked up the Study Guide and completed the corresponding chapter to help drive the points made from the book home for me.

There are 22 chapters in the book and thus, there are 22 individual studies you can complete on your own or in a small group Bible study. These books are designed to help you make the most of the days you have left on earth, and to help you life on purpose. Have you ever felt like life was ordering you around instead of you ordering your life? If so, like me, you know something is wrong in how we are choosing to manage our lives and even doing the important things we know need to be done. Most people live their lives day in and day out without accomplishing much of what they truly intended to. They are busy, but not sure what they are busy with. Do you ever feel that way?

I'm busy has become the standard excuse for all the things we should have done but didn't do. I truly wonder how many people at the end of their life feel they lived the life they were meant to love? How many have only regrets about the things they did or did not do during their life? You only have one life, and if it is not going in the direction that you want it to, now is the time to make changes. This Study Guide includes several parts to help you stay on track towards making those changes and to digest all the material in Seize the Day.

Get Ready prepares you for the subject matter in the chapter and reviews what was learned in the previous chapter.

Get Set digs into the heart of the chapter and gives you questions and activities to help you think more deeply about the subjects presented.

Go! Is designed to help you implement the new ideas and strategies learned in the chapter.

Remember captures the main points of the chapter as well as a scripture to remember.

I received Seize the Day: Study Guide by Joyce Meyer compliments of Faith Words, a division of Hachette Book Group for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation aside from a free copy of this study guide in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion of the product. This is such a great resource to help readers understand the way we are using our time, how to make the necessary changes to have a more productive and joy-filled life knowing you are using time wisely and how to ensure we are living our lives up to the potential God gave each one of us. I love that I am able to look back and analyze my own life at 52 and decide to take charge now on how I choose to live each day, and ensuring myself that I am stepping out in God's will and not my own for what I choose to do each day. I hope that when I get to the end of my life, I have a life of few regrets and know I lived my life up to the potential God created me to live. I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

Seize the Day

"I'm sorry I would have called or visited sooner, but I've been so busy!"

Face it, we have either heard this statement or used it ourselves. Yet when you really think about it can you honestly remember what you were doing that occupied so much of your time and kept you busy? We all start off each day with that proverbial "To Do List" and then deviate off of it at some point because we get to busy. But busy doing what? Tackling things that really don't add much to our day? Perhaps its sitting down for a moment to watch TV while you grab a quick bite to eat, and then sit back and before you know it a few hours have passed. Or you were going to clean and organize your house today, and then something popped up and we never get to it. Then that phrase about being busy once again passes our lips.

We know that our time is a priceless and precious commodity and one we are only given so much of, so where are we wasting it? For believers, our life here is to be used in large part to prepare for our heavenly eternal home. We can use our time wisely by putting it into the will of God. We should never behave as if time is a commodity that continues to multiply in our lives. It is, in fact, just the opposite. Every moment we use is one that we never get back again, so using it wisely is important. Many people put off being in right relationship with God until another time. Usually it is because they want to do thing they know God wouldn't approve of. so they think they will choose their own time. But what if they run out of time? How much of our time are we wasting living selfishly instead of loving and serving others and trusting God to take care of us?

"In his book, Making Today Count for Eternity, author Kent Crockett asks the reader to imagine a World War II soldier, wounded while selflessly rescuing his fellow servicemen. When he returned to the States, he was given the Medal of honor for his patriotic service. What was it that motivated him to put his life in jeopardy? When his life was at stake in battle, he wasn't thinking, I'm going to risk my life so I can receive a shiny medal. The reward was simply the nation's way of showing appreciation for his heroic actions. He risked his life to rescue his friends and defend his country. In much the same way, we don't serve God for a reward. We serve Him because we love Him and we love those around us." (pg 30).

When talking about seizing the day and living life ' on purpose,' it is important to live with an eternal mind-set. If our actions, our attitudes, and our ambitions are carried out with an eternal mind-set rather than a temporal one, we are certain to accomplish bigger and better things for God and the growth of His Kingdom. "Using the time you have left on this earth, then it begins with a decision to seize the day every day and be an individual who lives life "on purpose" for a purpose. Every moment of our lives does not have to be regimented and fit into a plan, but, on the hand, if a good portion of our time isn't put into something with purpose and meaning, it will be wasted." (pg 38).

I received Seize the Day by Joyce Meyer compliments of Faith Words, a division of Hachette Book Groups for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation aside for a free copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased and fair opinion. This latest book by Joyce Meyers helps readers understand how to prioritize their days in order to accomplish all they can not only for themselves but in giving God glory and honor. Too often it comes at the end of our lives where we look back with regrets on all the things we didn't accomplish in our life and wish we had more time, or that we had done it differently. Joyce encourages readers to "Seize the Day" and begin to make those changes today so when we get to the end, we don't have the regrets so many others do and we can enter into the heavenly gates hearing the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant." I would easily give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

Worry-Free Living

When you think about worry-free living, you might think that is simply impossible to achieve. If you are a non believer and put your faith in your job, your bank account, your marriage, and even what you can achieve, you are 100% correct. Some day something will happen that will shake things up. You lose your job, you get that dreaded phone call from your doctor, your marriage falls apart, your children run away, even your bank account dwindles. However when you place your faith in God, the Creator of everything in the heavens and the earth, nothing is impossible, but it will take faith to see that happen.

I'm not saying that by being a believer, you won't have difficulties and won't be subject to the same things are non believers are, but we do have someone we can turn to, just like when a young child faces a problem, they know who to run to without any second thoughts. That is what the Bible means when it says to have child-like faith. They know by taking their troubles to mom or dad, thing will be okay. They will handle it and then they skip off knowing it's being handled.

In her latest book, Worry-Free Living, Joyce Meyer teaches you how to have that child-like faith, what it means to cast your anxieties upon the Lord, and how to trade your anxiety for peace that only God can provide. In just under 135 pages, this simple and easy to use book guides you through things like understanding what it means "to seek God's kingdom first, is the key to living in the peace of the Lord. To seek God's kingdom simply means to seek the know God and His ways. We are to seek God's kingdom and His righteousness over all other things ,and then everything else we need will be given to us as well. In other words, one reason we worry and fret and live in fear and anxiety is that we simply have our priorities mixed up. We are seeking our security in the things of this world rather than in the God who created this world. God meets the needs of every created thing, including you and me. As believers, we are supposed to seek Him, not to seek the fulfillment of our needs. If we will seek Him first, He has promised to provide for us in every way, to open the doors of opportunity He has for us, and to give us the security we need." (pg. 16).

I received Worry-Free Living by Joyce Meyers compliments of Faith Words, a division of Hachette Book Groups in exchange for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation aside from a free copy of this book in exchange for my personal and honest opinion. This little book is simply chalk full of great advice including a six step plan for God's peace in your life that anyone can follow. Combined with Scripture verses each of the 5 chapters focuses on specific things we can do to eliminate anxiety, manage stress and enjoy the present day that God intended us to do. One thing is true, the Bible is the perfect owner's manual to helping us enjoy every day of our life to the fullest. I'd rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars in my opinion.

Get Your Hopes Up

"Evaluating our hearts is an important exercise as we begin this journey of hope together, because hope in God and positive expectation are very closely related to faith. For the sake of discussion, we can easily say that the level of your expectation is the level of your faith. Show me a person with low expectations, and I'll show you a person using very little faith. But show me a person with big expectations, and I'll show you a person acting with bold faith." (pg 7).

In her latest book, Get Your Hopes Up, Joyce Meyer tackles the issue of hope. Finding it, understanding what it is, how to keep it and what does the Bible say about it. Like all good Joyce Meyer's book. Mama Joyce gives readers the bold and honest truth. Not something sugar coated to make you feel good, she preaches like the best of them. I love the many aspects of hope you will find in this book and perhaps my favorite is that of what Joyce called spiritual possums. Whenever a difficulty or storm comes into their life, they play possum. They stop moving as if they have hit an impenetrable wall and their faith and hope go right out the window.

Rather than getting active, they get passive. When times get tough, when they're dealing with pain or disappointment, they freeze. They just stop moving. Does this sound familiar? Have you ever found yourself in a holding pattern because of an unexpected trial or a crushing disappointment? I want to encourage you in the midst of your pain that sometimes the very best thing you can do is just keep moving. You may not have all the answers yet. You may still be shocked by the circumstances around you. You may even feel like the world is caving in around you. In the midst of those difficulties, if you'll just keep moving, it will help you not to become hopeless." (pg 87).

There is so much great advice to counter all the negative self talk we've become accustom to and the one huge take away for me, was that hope is a powerful thing, but it doesn't thrive in an atmosphere of can't! Joyce uses her own personal stories and that of others to help draw us to the conclusion that we can find hope in any situation if we are but willing to look and trust God to help us as our first resource not our last one as we are prone to do.

I received Get Your Hopes Up by Joyce Meyer compliments of Faith Words, a division of Hachette Book Groups for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation aside from a free copy of this book in exchange for my personal and honest evaluation. Like all of Joyce's books that are in my personal library, this will be a book I will consult quite often when I need a good dose of reality. Friends and family can mean well but often times, they don't make us feel any better when we need the God's honest truth, to get us back into the game of life again. Joyce's book does just that. For anyone facing a difficult time or situation, this is the perfect book to help them move past the situation for now and see what God has in store for them today. Well worth all of the 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion.

Overload

I don't believe that there is one person alive who has never dealt with or felt the effects of stress in their life. For a teen it might be a project or homework assignment that feels like more than they can handle especially when a deadline is looming and perhaps they have put it off thinking they'd have more time. For adults, the list is ever longer from work related stress issues, financial, health, marriage, parenting, you name it and at times it can seem like we simply have too much on our plate. We know it is something we must deal with, but how? Why can't we simply pull the plug when our lives feel like we have hit the "overload" level?

Joyce Meyers brilliantly tackles this subject with humor, grace, some motherly advice and of course, tempered with biblical scripture to guide us on this journey in her book, Overload: How to Unplug, Unwind, and Unleash Yourself from the Pressure of Stress. Most of us understand how stress can manifest in physically harmful ways from putting added pressure on our body and its vital organs. She offers some great advice in each section from understanding what stress is, how it impacts us, what we can do, what does the Bible offer and so much more. Some great take away's I found in this book are the Things to Remember that sums up each chapter like, "one of the biggest cause of stress is focusing on the negative things that are happening around us. What you think about - what you focus on - is going to affect how you see life. When we look at the positive things that God has placed in our lives, it gives us a sense of perspective, stability, thankfulness and balance. Psalm 103 instructs us to "forget not" God's benefits and then gives us an entire list of benefits that are ours as children of God." (pg 87).

Joyce uses her own stories of how she dealt with stress along with some great examples you are not likely to forget to change how we view what we choose to "stress about." We all understand that stress like worry is like a rocking chair, it moves us but we go nowhere. We simply need to remember that God is not going to let you sink. He is in control and He is going to see you safely to the other side. I forget how much like the apostles we are, when things in our life seem to spin out of control, we think God has somehow forgotten about us, like when they found themselves adrift in the sea and a storm came up unexpectedly, they panicked even though they had Jesus aboard and who was simply sleeping through it all. Ever wonder how He could sleep through a storm? Because He trusted in God, the Father, who would see Him safely to the other side. We simply fail to place all our trust in God to get us to the other side and often give up before we are almost there.

I received Overload: How to Unplug, Unwind, and Unleash Yourself from the Pressure of Stress by Joyce Meyer compliments of Faith Words, a division of Hachette Book Groups for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation, aside from a free copy of this book, in exchange for my personal and honest evaluation. This book arrived just when I was dealing with my own multi-level stresses of my own with my husband and I both enduring heart and health issues as well as trying to keep our family going and acting as a buffer through all of that. I only wish I picked it up and read through it before I had a complete meltdown because I would have realized how little we really do think we can control and the rest we simply have to trust God to get us the rest of the way through things. I believe my favorite quote from the entire book, and believe me, there are tons of them is, "If you'll do what you can do, God will do what you cannot." This one is truly a keeper for me and one I will be referring to quite a bit more but with more confidence in God when stress happens. I need to keep my eye off the storm and on God instead. Well worth all 5 out of 5 stars!

Good Health, Good Life

2015 always earmarks those who are hoping this will be the year that they can lose weight, get healthy and make better choices in their life when it comes to their physical and spiritual well being. I am one of those people this year. Best selling author Joyce Meyers makes it simple to manage in her latest book, Good Health, Good Life: 12 Keys to Enjoying Physical and Spiritual Wellness. It is exactly what you would want in a book, concise suggestions you can make in your life now that will have long term benefits.

Each of these 12 Keys she explained can be used in any order depending on what you are hoping to work on in your own life. She incorporates the use of prayer in helping to stay on the healthy path, because if your anything like me, you have made far too make excuses and reasoned away everything but sitting down and making a serious commitment not to fail. In order to make sure you're starting on the right path with God in your corner, you need to make sure you're grounded in your church and find a support group who can help you achieve your goals. Better yet, they can keep you accountable should you fall.

My best piece of advice in all of this is if you fall, and more than likely you will, don't stay there, simply jump back up and begin again where you left off. Joyce uses her own examples of all kinds of dieting fads and why some work initially but don't stay that way. The only smart way is to do the things you know are healthy. Eating right, laying off the processed and fast food choices, drinking at least half your weight in ounces of water, exercising at least 30 minutes a day, getting a great night's sleep and keeping your stress manageable.

What makes this short, but simple book work is that not everyone is starting off in the same place. Some exercise but don't necessarily eat great, some manage stress well, but have a difficult time with managing their personal life, and each of these are addressed in just the right dose, to the core of what it means to be serious about getting that temple of God's He gave you in order. Imagine if God entrusted you to the care of His church and you simply let it go! Well that is what we are doing to our bodies. Is it any wonder we are unhealthy, prone to more health concerns than ever before and grab whatever food is available because we are short on time?  This is just the resource to make you stop finding excuses and start getting healthy again.

I received Good Health, Good Life by Joyce Meyer compliments of Faith Words, a division of Hachette Book Groups for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions contained here are strictly my own. I love getting this to review just as I have started my own journey back to health and spiritual wellness and love the straight-forward, no nonsense approach one can expect in this easy to understand and use resource. For me, this one is a well-deserved 5 out of 5 stars.

You Can Begin Again

Too often in life, we wait til the end, to reflect back on all the chances we had to do things differently. Then we wonder why we are suddenly filled with regret for the choices we didn't act upon or roads we didn't take. Too often we fail to follow through with choices because we are being held back by the beliefs it's simply too late and we accept the hand in life we are dealt, instead of taking a step of faith and choosing something different. An opportunity to begin again before it's too late.

Best selling author Joyce Meyers invites us all to simply begin again in her latest book You Can Begin Again. Using real life examples of people who have faced challenges that would cause most of us to dig a hole and crawl into, these people chose to begin their lives again with the challenges they each faced. To a man who believed he want to learn to play the piano and did all he could to learn to play his best, who ultimately freezes when he faces his first competition; to a young model who had everything in life going her way, walks unexpectedly into the propeller of an airplane and leaves her with facing a life unlike any she ever had expected if she lived; to a sculpture who was given a gift through a dream that would forever change what he would do with his life after facing a life with no future in it.

Joyce couples each of these with biblical examples of people who too, have had to face insurmountable odds stacked against them. How using stories like Jonah and Job we can see that when choosing to follow what God has in store often times leads to blessings beyond our wildest dreams but more importantly how we can chose every day to take one simple action that will lead us in a path for a brighter future instead of falling down and staying down. There is simply too many examples to share with you but know that my copy of her book is filled with passages that I have highlighted to help me when I find myself overwhelmed by the circumstances life hands me unexpectedly.

We can learn that despite how we feel we can chose to live a life we dream instead of simply waiting to the end of our lives and wishing we had taken the opportunity to do it sooner rather than not at all. There is simply something in this book for everyone to gain some insight into what you are facing. Do you find yourself struggling with weight loss, finding a job, struggling with loss, health issues, perhaps just finding a reason to get out of bed each morning? Or perhaps you know someone who could use a bit of a motivational push in the right direction? Then pick up this book today and realize that it's simply never too late to begin again!

I received You Can Begin Again by Joyce Meyers compliments of Faith Words, a division of Hachette Book Groups for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed here are strictly my own. I have loved listening to Joyce's messages for years now and reading her motivational and truly life changing books because she gives it too you straight and doesn't sugar coat anything. She encourages you to leave your pity party of one and take a different path, to live your dream and make it a reality. To rise above the difficulty of life and embrace the blessings God has in store for you. You just never know, the life that you have always wanted, stands right in front of you, if you are willing to simply take a step in the right direction! I easily give this one a 5 out of 5 stars!

The Confident Mom

As a mom, have you ever wondered if maybe you could have done a better job at raising your kids or looked at someone else and questioned maybe where you are going wrong in your own life? Why do we second guess our efforts when God clearly isn't done with our kids yet? Why do we look at what is going on in other's lives when we don't know what they have had to go through to get to where they are? So how do we move forward and gain a better understanding on how to be a more confident mom based on the abilities and talents God has uniquely given each of us and our kids?

Joyce Meyers has written a book called The Confident Mom to guide your family with God's strength and wisdom. I've always found that sometimes our best resources of truth can be discovered within the Bible, but just where to find it becomes the challenge. Joyce does an exceptional job at incorporating her humor as a mom in relating to us exactly where we have all found ourselves sometimes wondering just what the point is in all of this child rearing from a mom's perspective using the wisdom found in the Bible.

"We can all relate to those idyllic dreams we once had about our soon-to-be-born little bundles of joy. We also remember when the reality of the situation set in. Little bundles of joy grew into teething toddlers who cried and threw up on us every time we got dressed up to go out. They threw temper tantrums and tried to drink out of the dog bowl. Soon, instead of feeling sure of ourselves, we started wondering if we really have what it takes to do this right. We started seeing our short comings, focusing on our failures, and feeling inadequate.

I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Every mom (no matter how awesomely competent she may appear to be) has lost her confidence at one time or another. But, thank God, there is a way to get your confidence back. It's actually possible for us as mothers, at any stage in our lives, to regain, not the false and fleeting kind of confidence but the real thing: the kind that keeps us looking forward with assurance even when things are going wrong - the kind that keeps us looking up instead of down, in spite of our mistakes. The kind that enables us to laugh at our imperfections and be positive about ourselves and what we can do instead of worrying about what we can't do." (excerpt page 7-8.)

Sound like something you'd want to know more about? Then trust me, when I say, you'll definitely want to pick up The Confident Mom by Joyce Meyers. There is something in this book for anyone even if we have kids who are grown and living outside of our homes. We all know that confidence in our abilities makes us stronger and able to gain insight to struggling moms everywhere who ask us how we seem to have it all together. We can sit back smile, and know we've all been there at one point in our lives and have arrived! "The difference between a good mom and a great mom is her supreme confidence in her supreme God!"

I received The Confident Mom by Joyce Meyers compliments of Faith Words, a division of Hachette Book Groups for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions expressed in this review are strictly my own unless otherwise noted. Joyce shows us not only how to rely on the advice God provides in His Word, but also how to make sure the children we raise remain confident in their own faith even though at times, some may fall away or stray, God will bring them back in His own timing and in His own way. We just have to have faith in the abilities we have instilled in them, God won't let them go too far! God doesn't expect us to be perfect, only trust in Him to help raise our children! I easily give this one a 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion.

God Is Not Mad At You

Is God angry with you?

So many people steer clear of a relationship with God simply because of past experiences in dealing with someone who has hurt you with their anger or their response to something you have done in the past. Most often times, the older we get the more likely we are to avoid those situations in dealing with people who are angry with us, thinking that is a better way to deal with life, rather than moving forward in that relationship. However avoidance does nothing to improve your relationships with people. If we don't work through our conflicts, we will find very little people in our lives we can relate to, and God is the biggest one most people run from.

I believe most people like to think of God as someone that truly would rather not deal with because of the consequences of our actions might lead us to believe that some form of discipline is required for not doing the right thing. Yet God is all powerful, He is also all loving and has demonstrated the need for restoration with the human race. When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, God was already at work building a plan to restore the relationship He had with the humans He created through the birth and death of His son, Jesus Christ. God developed the plan that when you do something wrong, you need to find a way to seek forgiveness and make it right. When we sin, we need to repent, or turn away from that, seek forgiveness from God, and try and go about not doing that again. God doesn't ask for us to earn our way into His heart through some deed or hard work. He simply seeks our heart and words of repentance to restore the right order in our lives.

He is the perfect example of what unconditional love truly means. He gave His ONLY Son, that we might once and for all have a sacrifice of love and blood that would resolve that relationship between us and our Creator through belief in what Jesus Christ accomplished. The day that Jesus Christ died on the cross was for all the sins of the world and its inhabitants, past, present and future, that simply through believing in what He did, that we could restore that relationship with God once again and be assured that when our lives are done here on Earth, we will live forever in eternity with God.

Joyce Meyer once more takes readers through the different situations in our lives that show us that God is Not Mad At You so you don't have to avoid Him in your life. He isn't trying to control you, He's simply trying to love you, the way any father would their own child. But perhaps you don't have a great example of a loving father in your life to see that kind of relationship. Joyce addresses those as well using her own example of her father's abusive relationship to show readers how you can use these skills in every relationship you have and most importantly, how to restore the relationship with God in your life. Some may think that God will never accept them as they are; that they are not good enough for God, that God couldn't possibly forgive them or that even God is punishing them. All these issues and more are dealt with in Joyce Meyer style and one you can easily relate to in her book, God Is Not Mad At You.

I received God Is Not Mad At You by Joyce Meyer compliments of Faith Words, a division of Hachette Book Groups for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review. If you find yourself struggling with issues from your past that are hindering your relationships with God and others, I would encourage you to pick up a copy of this book today. It will completely restore the issues that are holding you back and keeping you from building right relationships with people in your life. You too, can experience real love, acceptance and guilt-free living! I rate this book a perfect 5 out of 5 stars and LOVE every book I've read of Joyce Meyers mostly because she relates to us right where we are at in our lives!

Change Your Words, Change Your Life

I know you've heard the saying before, "you are what you say!" Yet how often do we take the time really to consider just what we are saying most of the time. It reminds me of another saying when dealing with others, I used to hear from my mom, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say it at all!" How true those sayings really are.

Just the other day a great friend of mine got some incredible news that would mean the world to her family that was facing huge financial difficulties as well as some health issues for her husband. When God came through for them in a very powerful way, I was the first person she called. I was super excited for her because I knew what a burden had been lifted off their shoulders. Then she told me something interesting. She said she was also having doubts that perhaps the reason these things were happening was because the health issue facing her husband was going to turn out well and that's God's way of preparing her for the worst. How funny the enemy is when in the midst of God's glory he is still trying to plant seeds of doubt when we should be celebrating the joys. I reminded her to simply trust God and take it one day at a time. I also reminded her that the words that we speak because the water for the seeds we plant in ourselves. So what you want to grow will become the words you speak, we in fact are watering those seeds of doubt instead of the seeds of joy in this particular situation.

These are just a handful of the insights you will glean from Joyce Meyer's new book, Change Your Words, Change Your Life. There is actually an entire chapter devoted to just what my friend was encountering and so the advice and words of wisdom I shared with her, really hit home. It changed her perspective and really made her think about what she was saying. Joyce reminds you that what you think becomes what we often say. Instead of speaking those negative thoughts which we know don't come from God, we are breathing life into the lies the enemy is planting. This book will really help change your life. It always begins in our minds, our thoughts which eventually become our words, so which seeds will you begin planting today? What kind of fruit are you looking to harvest for God's kingdom and glory?

I received Change Your Words, Change Your Life by Joyce Meyer, compliments of Faith Words, a division of Hachette Book Groups for my honest review. There is so much to help you on the path that will literally change your life in this wonderful hardcover book. Some of the chapters deal with "How to Be Happy," "When to Talk and When Not to Talk," "Speaking Faith and Not Fear," "Do you Really Have to Give Your Opinion?" The Corrosion of Complaints," and so much much more. We all know how hard it is sometimes to hold our tongue when someone offends us or we get upset in fact the Bible is clear we are instructed to do just that. With this book as your guide, and Joyce's straight to the point message, you are bound to find improvement with reading this and applying it to your daily life. I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars and will be referring to this one A LOT!!!

Living Beyond Your Feelings

A constant struggle of mine is controlling my feelings. You know, the times when you wish you could just get away from all that life throws at you? We have on average about 70,000 thoughts every day, each one triggering a different emotion. No wonder why it’s such a struggle! I feel like I am, the majority of the time, controlled by my emotions and I wasn’t sure what to do with all the negativity I felt was surrounding me. In Joyce Meyer’s “Living Beyond Your Feelings” I found solace in her empowering words of encouragement and faith.

Joyce examines the majority of human feelings and discusses the way the brain processes and stores memories and thoughts. In great detail, she explains how we can easily manage our reactions to those feelings, and in doing so, teaches her readers how to efficiently manage the gamut of feelings that wreak havoc on our lives.

I recommend this book to people of all ages, from preteens to the elderly. Joyce’s advice pulled me out of my pit of despair and has forever altered the way I view the world, how I handle my emotions, how I regulate my thoughts and feelings, and how I am in social environments. "It gave me the tools to set the ball in motion for my life outside of high school, helped me to make proactive choices and helped me regain control of my life." from my 18-year-old daughter who read the book before I got a chance to read it first. It made that much of an impact for her.

I received this book Living Beyond Your Feelings by Joyce Meyer, compliments of Faith Words, a division of Hachette Book Group for my honest review and would rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars! A MUST READ! For more information about this book, the author, and where to purchase a copy, you are welcome to click and follow the links I have provide below:

Power Thoughts - Giveaway and Review

Two words...Joyce Meyer! Enough said.

If you know me you know how much I feel that Joyce Meyer's adds to my spiritual walk. In having the chance to meet her just weeks after my surgery was amazing. In her latest book, Power Thoughts, 12 strategies to Win the Battle of the Mind, came at a perfect time for me.

I am what you would call your classic worrier. I worry more when it deals with a situation I am personally involved with but can handle others problems so much better than I can my own. In her latest book, Joyce shows how these little, nagging destructive thoughts can do us more harm than good in both the physical, emotional and spiritual areas of our life.

Joyce teaches you how you can "daily" take up the battle and begin to replace all those thoughts that plague our lives and keep us from the true potential God knows is possible in us. There are chapters designed to help you with worry, fear, walking victoriously through any situation, pursuing peace, meeting our needs abundantly and even how to be content and emotionally stable. Oh where to start for me?

The first part of the book is for learning how to implement the change of thinking that has been going on since we were able to put thoughts together and allow us to shape our lives based on what we have thought. Joyce teaches us how to change all that bad thinking and put it into cans. After all miracles really do come in "Cans!!!" It's believing we can, and then repeating it and praying over the thoughts until we can become victorious over them.

I received this book, compliments of Faith Words a division of Hachette Book Groups for my honest review and think everyone should get a copy of this for their home. Who doesn't ever have those thoughts that plague us when life hands us lemons? I would easily rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars.
