The Legacy - Giveaway and Review

A horrible, deep, dark secret will hold a generation of women to Storton Manor. Not only bound by the memories but also what these secrets have done to the women who lived there.

Erica Calcott and her sister, Beth, have found themselves the fortunate heirs of Storton Manor in Whitshire, England, where they used to spend their summers. Now returning to the home, Beth remains withdrawn and depressed. Hoping that being back at the Manor might enable her sister to heal, Erica is bound and determine to uncover the mystery of what happened that fateful summer her cousin Henry disappeared from the estate.

Erica finds clues in her grandmother Caroline's items she comes across in the manor, but what she uncovers in the process will bring more than she bargained for to light.

In the novel, The Legacy by Katherine Webb, the reader is in for a literary mystery. The story takes place in two time periods, one in the early 1900's and the other in the present. While Erica tries to determine what happened to Henry as she searches through Storton Manor, the reader is taken back in time to what happened that lead to the event described in the prologue and the reasons behind the decision. This is a twist from most novels that either deal directly with a mystery but also tells of a story of betrayal and a heartbreaking legacy that is discovered in the process.

I received this book compliments of TLC Book Tours for my honest review and once I understood where the story was headed, it made it more enjoyable to read. It takes a few chapters to understand that the writer is toggling between the two time periods and where we find ourselves at the beginning of Chapter Two is the present day situation involving Erica and Beth. The story is well written to engage the reader to the point, you'll want to finish this just to see how it all turns out in the end, and Katherine Webb does not disappoint. I would rate this book a 4.5 out of 5 stars. For more information on this book, the author and where to pick up a copy of this book, please click on the links below:

  1. I love books that weave together the past and the present, especially if the author leaves a little mystery as to how these varying time periods really come together! This sounds like a stellar historical read and I am so excited to read it! Thanks for the opportunity to read a copy!
